American Author, F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote The Great Gatsby in 1922, to which he called the Jazz Age. Fitzgerald uses this book to symbolize what it was like during the Jazz Age, and to bring out major themes that plagued the 1920's. One of these themes that is present both within the book and in the 1920's is money and status. Fitzgerald in The Great Gatsby portrays the difference between new and old money, whilst also bringing out themes about money and materialism, along with the pursuit of wealth.
