My Personal Values Our ideas, ethics, and perceptions of what is important mold our values. “Values come about through a combination of experiences and learning: exposure to situations and information, and interpretation of those experiences. Interaction and socialization, which help to form common values, also play important roles.” (Hollinger, 2010). Personally, my values dramatically changed after my complete surrender to Jesus Christ. This transformation established my values on the firm Christian foundation. “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (I Corinthians 3:11). Let’s explore my fundamental

“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” (Hebrews 11: 1, 6). God’s presence is everywhere and our faith connects us to him. Faith allows expansion of our belief from the natural to the supernatural. Faith is knowing that despite all the odds stacked against one, God will provide. Losing everything due to illness and facing the prospects of being homeless, this writer knew that God would not abandon her. Luke 5:16 states, “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” Jesus set an example for all to follow in spending time with our Father. One cannot adequately function without time in word and prayer daily. “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8). Serenity is extremely valuable to this one. While being bombarded with information every day and chaos on every corner, it’s necessary to unplug from life and spend a little time with God. Think about it, how can one hear Him above the noise? He has only spoken to this one while still and quiet. Many times, in spending my mornings with God, this writer has become overwhelmed by the intoxicating aroma of Frankincense. What comfort to receive the message that He is near. What joy to get lost in His companionship alone in the woods, sitting on the bank of a lake, or on the sandy beach. Just me and
Faith is a state of mind through which goals, desires, plans and purposes are interpreted into spiritual equivalent and transferred it to infinity intelligence. Everything can be achieved if you believe in yourself.
People are seen and judged by their actions and beliefs. When people see a person through their eyes, one’s actions determine who they are. Values are in every person’s core and are everyone’s moral compass. A person’s decisions and actions run from their principles and because of this, one’s values help to define a person’s identity.
Values mean different things to different people as they have differing beliefs and values. After this book was published, people’s values may have changed as they realized they have had the wrong values and priorities, and needed a change.
Values relate to our personal principles, morals, and ideals—that is, what we consider to be important. Each person is unique, with their own personal values and beliefs shaped by a number of factors that include culture, religion, and personal experiences. We value each person as an individual, respect their aspirations and commitments in life, and seek to understand their priorities, needs, abilities and limits.
Many people would agree that without faith, the world would be in chaos. The book Christian Foundation by Kathleen Fischer and Thomas Hart gives an interpretation on faith in our time. Many people would question the definition of faith. Faith is a gift, which is given by God to have trust in him and belief in him. This book is a great entry in anyone's life that has speculation on his or her own faith. The book has many ways into understanding ones own religion. It discusses the Bible, Jesus, Church, God's existence and Images of God. All of these chapters helped me get a better interpretation of what my religion entailed.
One of the most important characteristics of faith that Kallistos Ware highlights is the idea that much, if not all, of one’s relationship with God, is based off of instinctive feelings as opposed to other feasible elements. As Ware states, “Faith is not the supposition that something might be true, but the assurance that someone is there.” Faith in God, as Ware explains in this quotation, is not merely believing in God due to elements of scripture or teaching, but is instead something that occurs after personal experiences that provide a basis for the presence of God in one’s life. Additionally, these personal experiences not only need to occur, but also need to be interpreted and attributed to God. However, this can be difficult for many,
Life can be many things, it can be a box of chocolates or it can be a big trial and error, over time some of our values change, become eroded, or become forgotten. Our actions can say more than our talking and our beliefs guide us in life. Over the years, my values have greatly influenced my character and helped me reach my point in life right now. Unfortunately, not every one is lucky, they forget their values and become overwhelmed.
Values: I believe my values “that are most important” (Christians, 2013, p.1) apply to this situation are as follows:
What is faith? Scripture tells us in Hebrews 11:1 that “Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (NIV) Faith means trusting that various situations will provide results best suited to help us in some way during our life. I’m sure others may have a different opinion; however, throughout my life, that has been the most accurate description.
Faith is a concept used throughout all aspects of life, in ways of life and spiritual growth. Faith is considering a way to see things without the natural appearance of it. Faith is an essential tool used in everyday life. Consider the process of using faith in order to gain growth in life and spirituality. Faith is a belief that is assured by a conviction that the thing hope (expected) for in the present, will be manifested in the future.
I thought about each one for quite some time, and came to realize that these first five values were the most personal of the value topics. The list reflects my self-schema, which is influenced greatly by my personal beliefs, and the self-awareness and my self-perception, “what I know and believe about myself.” (Myers, 2013, p. 37) I consider faith and salvation the top of the list, because I am a Christian, and my perceptions of the world and ideas about human nature, life after death, and ultimately our purpose in life are deeply rooted in my
Values are those things that are important, meaningful and valued by an individual, a group of people, or an organization. Whether we are aware of them or not, every individual has his or her core set of values, which consist of many different kinds of values. Each individual’s value system is different from one another because individual’s values are built up through one’s life experience, environment, and family background. Values are important to us because they reflect our personal moral standards, shape our behavior, and guide us through long life journeys. Since we live in a highly connected society, each person’s value system does not only affect one’s own life, but also affects many other people and the
Values are intangible things that are important to us, and that guide us, individually, to make decisions. Each person has a different set of values, morals, and ethics, which is the reason that each person handles a situation differently. Here, I will discuss my top 5 values, and why they are important to me.
Over the course of my life my values have changed based on circumstance. Currently if I had to list out my top five values in descending order they would be: religion, family, education, country, and culture. I value religion first and foremost because of my beliefs system that has been instilled in me since I was a child. " If you place God first in your life, then everything else will work itself out", is something my Grandfather has always told me. Family is something that doesn 't necessarily come first, but is a very high value to me. I identify as being a very caring father and husband, the protector, and head of my household. My family has always been supportive of my decisions. They have influenced me to always give my best at everything and to persevere when I fail. Education is the new value that has began to take a precedence in my life. Education is the bridge to success that I am striving to succeed at. Without education I cannot properly attend to my family 's needs. The time demand of education also puts it very high on my values list because it warrants the majority of my attention.
What is faith? Faith is something different to everyone. If you asked a hundred different people, it is possible that you would get many diverse answers. Religious faith and non-religious faith are two very distinct terms. Faith holds an extremely complex meaning when discussing it in the context of religion. Faith is a belief. That holds true to every religious and non-religious person. Every faith involves a decision. It is not about what we claim to believe, but what we actually do believe, that is true faith. Throughout this paper, I am going to discuss Christian faith, how it pertains to daily life and Christianity as a whole. I also intend to delve into George W. Forell's discussion of Christian faith and analyze and
