There are many differences and similarities between the book “Of Mice and Men” and the film. Usually, when you read a book and a director makes a movie out of it, the story is not the same. Hollywood directors probably cut scenes, change events, or add new ones to the film version of the book. These can make the film exciting, even thrilling for viewers who have not read the book. But can disappoint the viewers who read it because the film left out some juicy details or just changed the whole story, all together. In “Of Mice and Men” there are some changes in the film that are expressed differently, in the book. The differences between the book and the film would be how the story’s begin, how the story’s end and how the story’s layout their events.
The movie and the book, “Of Mice and Men,” both open differently. In the movie, it opens with the lady in the red dress running away from Lennie in the field. Then goes on to, Lennie and George running away from Weed on a train at night. The movie mainly goes in a chronological order, since it starts at when they leave Weed. The book ends with Lennie running away from the ranch and trying to find where the clearing was. Lennie is at the clearing and George finds him there and shoots him in an unpainful spot. When George shot Lennie, after a while everyone arrived to the clearing and saw that Lennie was dead. The film, ends similar since Lennie does end up killing Curley’s wife and running away to the clearing to wait for George. The film compared to book does kill Lennie with George shooting him in an unpainful spot and ending Lennie life as he thinks of how their dream ranch house would be.
