I have played in the Elite Club National league in Arizona for 4 years which implies a lot of traveling most weekends. ECNL is a step above State league, allowing us to play the hardest teams in the Nation. Each week we practice a minimum of 3 times a week for 2 to 3 hours a day and play 2 games each weekend. Many of our games however require us to go out of State. Taking away hours of our time for driving and eating out. Before moving to Arizona I played on a state team which gave me the opportunity to try out for the Olympic Development Program and I made the regional team 2 times. ODP is a program that is used to identify players for international competition by holding tryouts and training's. In High school I have made Varsity
Traveling has opened my eyes about my surroundings, and how competitive this sport is, especially on the western side of the country. As the game gets harder, the more energetic I get, and adrenalin races through me. It has made me more competitive not only as a player, but as a student as well. I compete in every aspect in my life, and strive to do the best I
I excited that teaching in the DPP is about to become reality. Daniel and I have enjoyed meeting everyone over the past 3 months. I know Ms. Yates preferred Monday or Tuesday evening. I am going to contact Morgan Kirkland today about April’s Class zero or setting up another meeting time. I will send any updates I get from Ms. Kirkland.
This week I had the opportunity to purchase my EDAD 701 Education Studies Textbook for class. I felt very relieved to make this purchase because it was the last book on the shelf. During the previous weeks I made several attempts to purchase it on line but I fell short because the book would have had to been shipped from overseas and I couldn’t possible wait that long for a purchase. After I received the book I began interpreting Chapter 6 the citizenship education on black and minority communities. I haven’t concluded the chapter yet or discussed it with my partner but that process will soon be completed. From scanning the chapter I did have the opportunity to discover that this particular chapter was extremely stimulating because I could
When playing sports at a young age, there is not a whole lot of organization. Often times it just looks like a bunch of kids running around aimlessly. At the age of 8, I decided to take my game and tryout for my first travel team. My first real baseball experience started in 2001 when I joined the Royalton Raptors, a local travel baseball team in my city.
This is Brielle (Junghyun) Black. I'm writing this e-mail to ask you an add code for your PLSI 200 American Politics course.
After reading chapter 4 of Suze Orman my perpective towards student loans totally changed. I have always been told that getting student loans is a bad thing, but in this chapter I learned that comparing the monetary earnings with a degree versus someone who doesn't is a big difference. Most students who continue with their studies and Persue a masters or doctorate are most likely to be in a need of a student loan. I have always Been afraid of student loans; however, comparing the student loan debt versus the difference in an income of someone who has a masters or doctorate changes my perspective completely. I am interested in law enforcement, and I also learned that my student loan debt might be forgiven or reduced. I'm not planning on getting
At DePauw, I want to study english literature in hopes of one day working as an editor at a book publishing company. One might think that this means that reading and writing are naturally easy for me, but in truth I often struggle to get my thoughts gathered and cohesively written on paper. That is why I want to pursue work as an editor rather than a writer. I’m much better at tweaking and critiquing another’s work than producing my own. Much to my displeasure, I also find that I write some of my best work under the pressure of a time crunch. I realize I need to work to get out of that habit this year.
I am the founder and president of the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Chapter at my school, and I've helped create SADD chapters at other middle and high schools in multiple school districts. Currently, there are about 40 students in my SADD chapter. I started my SADD group my freshman year, so I have been involved with my SADD group for almost three years now.
LD is a thirteen year-old Haitian -American seventh grader who is enrolled in the 7th grade General Education program at Middle School 500. She lives in a large household that is comprised of her paternal grandmother, her father, younger brother, aunt, the aunt’s boyfriend, along with her aunt’s two children ages 2 and 4. LD was referred for counseling by her Guidance Counselor due to conflicts in the home with her grandmother and aunt. The source of LD’s problem stems from her grandmother’s strong ties to Haitian culture and traditions. Although LD was initially referred for family problems, the dynamics of LD’s situation changed when her grandmother died suddenly before the holidays. As a result, the focus of LD’s sessions was changed
Many parents get their kids on travel teams, so they will turn into a better sports player. In comparison to recreational leagues, travel teams tend to have superior completion. I have played in both recreational and travel soccer leagues. From my own experience and observations, the completion and skill difference is huge. Players is travel teams are more skilled and more serious. Like iron sharpening iron, players get better by playing with and competing
For my cooperative practice in AHS 393, I interned at Indiana State University’s Student Health Promotion (SHP). SHP operates under Student Affairs as a part of the Student Counseling Center to create and promote a healthy college community. They focus on encouraging students to identify the benefits of, need for, healthy lifestyle choices through the promotion of comprehensive mind/body wellness, timely marketing, ongoing direct interactions and by supporting a community that enables these choices. My supervisor was Janet Weatherly, the associate director of SHP. My main duty and favorite part of my co-op was running their Motivational Monday programs. Each Monday we tabled in HMSU to talk to the student walking by about a different health topics and resources. Overall, I really enjoyed my co-op. I loved interacting and making a difference right here in my local community. No two days were ever the same! My only wish was if we could have stayed and done more programs.
Throughout the quarter in UWP 1, I have learned that good writing takes time and multiple drafts to develop. In all of my assignments, I have revised and made at least 3 drafts before submitting the final. With each draft, I noticed improvement in focusing on one main topic. For example, in my literacy narrative, I was confused with the prompt at first, so my first draft was confusing where I talked about multiple experiences in high school. However, after going through peer reviews and edits, I decided on a single event that affected my writing the most, which was my Sophomore year of high school. The college literacy project focused on presenting information towards an audience. Before this class, I thought the best way of presenting information would be in the form of a text or essay, but after using a PowerPoint for my college literacy assignment, I was proven wrong. Giving advice to students is best presented in a clear, and straightforward manner, and PowerPoint
The VSP, essential role within their agency is serving residents of the District of Columbia who have been victims of domestic violence, sexual offenses, traffic or alcohol related crimes, or property crimes. The VSP overall goal is to be committed to responding to victims of crime with compassion, respect, and understanding. Over the few months that I have interned with the VSP I had the ability to tackle tasks that I assumed would be above my criteria or potential, but I mastered each duty that was given to me. During my time there I observed and learn they way VSP works with Community Supervision Officers (CSOs) to decrease the incidence of recidivism and re-victimization and partners with victim service agencies to identify crime victims,
burgeoning career. I have also participated in appeals committees, further demonstrating the importance of established assessment and evaluation strategies.
Sometimes the experiences that help to improve and grow people the most, can also be the most difficult. In my Advanced Oral Interpretation class, I was given the assignment of choosing an event in which I would like to perform. For the past couple of years, I have chosen to create a Program of Oral Interpretation; this a ten minute speech that is read from a small binder. In POI, as the event is referred to, a person picks a topic, and then finds different types and pieces of literature to combine in order to create a story. For my POI this year, I choose the topic of emotional abuse.
