It has been said that technology has already taken over, just not in the way we expected it to. Instead of mind-controlling microwaves and appliances that turn into robots, we are slaves to our computers. This led me to think about a calm, clear night this year where this was most apparent.
It was dark over Shawano Lake. The moon shone on the water, bright and glittering as diamonds. My feet were hanging off the edge of the dock, barely skimming the cold, murky water. Music was spilling softly from my phone. CREAK. THUMP. CREAK. This was not part of the song. I turned to see my brother, Evan, coming up behind me.
“You know they started the campfire, right?”
“Yeah, I could see it.” The orange light was spilling out over the water.
“Well, are you gonna come back anytime soon?”
“Maybe.” Or maybe not. It was peaceful out here. I heard Evan’s noisy footsteps fade away, leaving me alone once more. After my brother’s return to shore, I gazed out at the surreal scene before me again. The bright white luna orb that was the moon flooded its light over the lively, rippling water. It almost looked like a pathway going all the way across the lake. It seemed so solid, so

Get off your phone, your computer, stop watching Youtube videos of spinning water bottles, pull your head out of your medieval battle app, and appreciate the beauty of our Earth. Find a waterfall, a forest, the one thing that touches your heart, the way moonlight on a lake touched mine, and spend some time alone there. Maybe it will be hard for you at first. You’d rather snap a picture of such a thing, put it on Instagram, and move on. But, if it is truly a special place, it will speak to you. You will stop looking at it through your screen, and start to study it with your own eyes. You will see beyond the meaningless pixels into your heart. Explore your world. Get out there.
SeaWorld is a United States based park with live aquatic animals. SeaWorld has been under some scrutiny lately with the treatment of their Orcas as well as their living conditions. Some people believe what SeaWorld is doing is okay whereas others do not. Some think keeping animals in captivity is acceptable, and others think taking them away from their families is uncalled for. Washington Post believes what SeaWorld doing is perfectly acceptable. PBS a typically children’s network is completely for SeaWorld and keeping animals in captivity. SeaWorld is strongly debated on keeping animals in captivity, their living conditions, and taking orcas away from their families.
I hand him the anchor and he tosses it into the lake causing a splash of water to explode up and splash the side of the boat. With the boat off the music on, it was peaceful sitting back with Mark and Karen enjoying each other’s company while the kids were up on shore. Engaged in conversations and laughter time seemed to have gotten away from us, looking around I can now see more and more boats as they show up. The darkness from the night sky had now consumed the lake, the soft glow of lights from the boats settling in around us was our only lighting.
Emerald Bay is located on the right side of Catalina Island. Catalina Island is 46.9 miles from the city of Los Angeles. The climate is warm. Some of the native plants are aleppo pine, brickle bush, and the fire poppy. Some of the native animals are bison, feral cat, and the black buck. There are many things to do at this wonderful camp.
I will be done with my finals this Monday and then will start preparing to get back to Hawaii. I am all for going to the Kombucha bar as I haven't had kombucha since I left Hawaii. 1 or 2pm on Friday sounds good. I am not sure if I will have a vehicle though to pick you up if it starts raining but we will figure out something. I left my Mercedes with Mieko but she had a really bad luck with that car I don't know why. It started breaking down and she also had a small accident. She wasn't hurt because the front end collision prompted the safely air-bag to release, but the vehicle was a total loss. I am glad she wasn't hurt and now she has bought a used vehicle which is being fixed for some minor problems. Hopefully by the time I get back we will have a car to tool in around.
It was a harmonious and tranquil summer day in San Diego, California. 18 year old Maggie was a shorter girl with chestnut colored hair and startling blue eyes. In addition, she was fascinated with Marine Biology. She had discovered a few years back, that there was a certain feeling that would arise within her when she was studying or reading about marine life. Carelessness, was what she had defined it as; seeing that there were no finals to worry about or college applications or job interviews. Currently, Maggie was devising a plan to convince her father to let her take the car so she could go to SeaWorld, for the billionth time. However, she had a predicament, all she could come up with was a puppy dog face and practically begging her father to let her venture off, at least it was
The family sprinted over to the dock, just as its last crew member was preparing to
One cold, early morning a steamboat named The Atlantis, set out with a load of timber on a long journey. The hold of the ship was packed with large blocks of wood for a building project. The captain and crew were well prepared and knew the course the vessel was to sail by heart, having traveled to this same destination many times. They loved the gentle rolling waves, the cool ocean breezes, and watching sea gulls and other sea creatures play in the sparkling water. It was nice to spend a couple of weeks sailing on the calm, glassy ocean water.
“Scarlette, Scarlette, come here. You won’t believe what I’ve found,” My little sister, North comes bounding over to me, holding something in her tiny hand. She opens her hand to show me what she’s found. A tiny gray watch lies in her open palm, the worn out steel shows traces of dried blood, the arms of the clock no longer work, and the band is shredded.
Once upon a time, there was a lake behind my house. Everyone always went to the lake and sat down on brown benches and fished. They always went home with big bags or buckets. I haven’t seen one person go home with a small bag or bucket!
The season is autumn, and the temperature is modest. I clean my 7mm rifle in a gentle and pre cautious way. I start at the stock of the gun, and work my way towards the barrel. The grain of the wooden butt comes from the finest trees. I run my fingers across the gun getting to know every detail there is, treating it like a newborn baby. As I pack my items away for my adventurous hunt, excitement overwhelms my mind like a vigorous hurricane striking the coast. I place items in my pack; such as, a knife, food, water, and a compass. In just a couple of hours I’ll have the opportunity of shooting a mule deer, which is one of nature’s greatest gifts. I store my rifle and other necessities for the hunt in my truck. By the time I hit the road and make my way towards the ranch the morning had almost reached an end. The fire from beyond makes its appearance when I arrive. The gracious first moments of the sunrise are breathtaking. I sat in awe taking in every moment I could of this astounding area that surrounded me.
Nevertheless, the comforting white clouds began to stretch and darken swirling themselves into a silvery metallic vortex. Majestic and alive a giant eye looked down upon me, with a menacing gleam, like it wanted to toy with me then changed its mind due to mere insignificance within its domain, and more important business for itself. My tiny body amid this vast strange universe, staring at the gunmetal clouds, overcome with motion sickness that I had never experienced before. Otherworldly, the impossible spinning waves tunneled through my cells, and with it this time – the smell of death. It hit like a copper truck slamming into me creating a hole to dump its load of rotten eggs, human waste, cheap perfume, and rotting meat forcing my cells to explode from the inside out. It ignited a force of nausea in me so strong my head jerked and I blew out blood, vomit, and a silvery black ooze into my regulator. I kept purging the exhaust valve of excess blood, vomit, and liquid metal. The distinct smell of death became a taste I couldn’t expel. An unholy taste of metallic death. The opposite spinning double waves kept moving through me, shattering my core with its opposing directions.
She looks out at the rough blanket of waves and sees a dark shadow pass over the water as a large cloud blocks the sun rays from the earth. Her mind begins to wander through her memories and it takes her back to the day she saw a shadow gliding through the water.
Action with a little bit extra is about right for describing new online slots release 7 Oceans from Microgaming. This slot has clear old schools intentions and it strives to be as deep and fast moving as the ocean waves when a storm is kicking up. I opened an eye to see Mom pulling back the curtain across the window in my bedroom. Outside, an oval moon hung low in a midnight blue sky. Almost full, I thought automatically. We’d been learning about the moon’s cycles at school.
Terror screamed through, veins and pounded at my heart. I stumbled backwards. I tripped and fell down into the sand. My weight shattered the thin layer of water scattering droplets into an airborne constellation of salty tears. They shimmered red against the moon held briefly before cascading back down upon me. The beads of liquid viciously tore icy wet streaks across my skin. Pain
