Puff the magic dragon? Obama says no, do you? Dr. Bernadine Healy’s article: “Legalize Marijuana? Obama Was Right to Say No” goes extensively into the effects marijuana has on our health. Healy’s entire career has been involved with health. Highly intelligent Bernadine Healy, a cardiologist who formerly was the head of The National Institutes of Health, and president of The American Red Cross. She is currently the health editor and columnist for U.S. News and World Report. One of Healy’s main points in this article comes from her passionate advocacy for the health of the United States. Bernadine successfully uses her experience with health, scientific research about the drug, President Obamas opinion of the matter, and even hits home with some emotion to support her cause that marijuana should never be legalized. …show more content…

Healy wrote this article stating her negative opinion on marijuana, and in addition explaining why she agrees with the research. The National Institute of Drug Abuse agrees with her that marijuana is harmful to our brains and hearts, particularly younger ones. This statement tells all of her opinions on the matter, “But as I see it, in an age of responsibility, protecting our young people’s health is the stronger imperative and should rightfully keep policymakers from cozying up to this brain-toxic drug” (Healy 10).
