Bravery has been an act that can set a person far apart from the rest of the people. One way of showing bravery is by protecting one another from harm. Another way of showing bravery is to stand up for one another. Finally, another method is doing an act without being asked to do it. To sum up, bravery is an important theme that is significant to all of us. A way of showing bravery can be by protecting one another from harm. An example of this specific example of bravery is in the novel : Number the Stars, where the Johansen’s hide their really close friend from the Nazi’s. Another act of bravery comes from a part in the story when Annemarie has to go through the woods to deliver a letter to her uncle. On the way through the woods, she encounters a couple of soldiers with dogs, and she was brave enough to play them off. So in the book Number the Stars, several characters have performed acts of bravery throughout the story. …show more content…
Then in the story, the woods in the story that Annemarie runs through and encounters the soldiers, that scene symbolizes Annemarie’s own way of discovering adulthood. Again , in the beginning of the story, Ellen and Annemarie get stopped by soldiers, but luckily they were brave enough to play the soldiers off. To end off, there are quotes in the novel that support bravery like : “Now I think that all of Denmark must be bodyguards for the Jews” - Annemarie (PG.25). As you can see, these are a couple of main examples of symbols and quotes of bravery in the novel: Number the Stars, that can also reflect real world problems in real
Annemarie is really brave, she stood up to the German soldiers that stopped her in the woods when she was taking the package to Uncle Henrick. “I will take it” she said, “I know the way, and it’s almost light now. I can run like the wind.” This quote shows that she’s brave; she knows she will probably get stopped by the German soldiers, but she takes it anyway. She knows that the package is really important to Uncle Henrick.
Bravery is demonstrated by the desire for lawfulness. Atticus Finch tries to teach his children that throughout the book To Kill a Mockingbird. He leads by the example of himself, and others in the sleepy country town of Maycomb.
The characters in this book show a lot of courage but the most courageous is Charlie. Charlie shows courage by staying strong throughout
Bravery can lead people to great things. If people are able to use their bravery, it is able to get them through hard times in their lives. In NightJohn by Gary Paulsen NightJohn uses his bravery to teach other. His bravery leads to him helping others accomplish great things. To begin with, when people stay brave they are able to accomplish great things.
Courage is defined in many ways and even little acts of bravery could leave the lingering label of being
It impacted the theme of courage by her standing up for herself by not doing something that she knew wasn’t right.
The first example that is when scout goes and helps face down the mob. When Atticus is outside protecting Tom there is a big mob that shows up that is going to try and execute tom because of supposedly raping a white woman. Scout shows up and even though she is a little girl she isn’t scared and she protects Tom. Who knows what could have happened to her but she wasn’t scared. Next, Miss Dubose shows courage when she is facing her morphine addiction. It is very tough to get away from an addiction and Miss Dubose works very hard at it.
Bravery means being loyal to your beliefs, being fearless in the face of danger and valiant at heart. Our society values the ability to be heroic. Firefighters and policeman are the epitome of bravery, but, occasionally, an ordinary person dares to be just as courageous. In Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, three innocent children face the tribulations of a town engulfed in racism while their father, Atticus, confronts the issue with a trail that could revolutionize the future for African Americans.
In the book To “Kill A Mockingbird” three characters that exemplify courage are Scout, Jem, and Atticus. The book “To Kill A Mockingbird” begin with two kids one was named Scout and one named Jem and their dad named Atticus. Scout was seven, and Jem was twelve and a half. The three of them lived in a small house in a little old town called Maycomb. In that town there were problems that were going on in their family for example Jem and Scout’s dad Atticus had to defend a black man in court because he was accused of raping a white woman which caused people to pick on him and his kids and judge them because he choose to defend the man.
“He leaped into the lake, wouldn’t wait for anyone’s answer,” (Anonymous 57.) Bravery is shown in today’s world also. Firefighters shows bravery by going into buildings thats are on fire and/or falling down to find people to save. In the story Canterbury Tales Chivalry is shown in the form of honor.
Many characters from Number The Stars by Lois Lowry showed bravery like Annemarie, Mama, and Peter. My first example of bravery is tied in with Annemarie’s bravery. Annemarie offered to bring the handkerchief that Mr. Rosen dropped to Uncle Henrik. Annemarie rushed into the kitchen and grabbed a basket, and put the handkerchief at the bottom. On top of it, she put an apple, a loaf of bread and some cheese.
Bravery resembles in each of the characters of the novel. Especially we see this main ethic in Annemarie, Ellen, Henrik, Peter and Annemarie’s parents. Heroism is in the city of Denmark; it shows that ordinary people can be brave. Annemarie helps Ellen and her parents’ escape from Denmark, risking her life many times. Johansen’s ignore the dangers and do what is necessary to protect Ellen. Annemarie’s parents showed bravery while being confronted by the Nazi soldiers in the apartment, Train and funeral. The biggest example is shown when Annemarie hides a package and goes through the woods to deliver it to her uncle Henrik’s boat. She was encountered with the Nazi soldiers and their dogs. “Ellen was brave when she had to leave her parents and worry about them. Also, when Ellen was in the Johansen’s apartment, and had to meet with the soldiers” (Lowry 21). This package was of big importance because it had a special ingredient that kept the dogs from finding the people hidden on Henrik’s boat. Due to this package the boat traveled safely to Sweden and Ellen, her family and other people got there safe. Fear can be a manipulative feeling that can oppress our actions. But, how do we overcome this fear? How did this fear really treat the individuals in Number the Stars? The fear in Number the Stars was unaffected because they kept doing their plan for survival. Annemarie was unable to know the threat of the
The main character, Isabel, shows courage in the book when she risks her own freedom and independence to save her friend Curzon. He was a slave but then became a soldier and had a run in with the Red Coats. While the slave
Annemarie showed numerous examples of conflict throughout the book, but the most important scenes were when the soldiers stopped Annemarie and Ellen around the corner, when the German soldiers came to the apartment, and right before she went on the dark path. Early in the text, Annemarie was running along the paths in Copenhagen when two soldiers stopped them. The German soldiers shouted the frightening word, “HALTE.”(p.2) For example, Annemarie was extremely frightened but still she, “looked into the face of the soldier who had ordered her to halt.” (p.2)
My definition of bravery would be someone who is willing to help someone,or risk their life to save someone else’s. An example of bravery would be the people who helped on the day of 9/11 when the twin tower was on fire the firefighters, and the police officers who ran into the building and tried to save people whether the saved anyone or passed way trying to save someone. The people who ran into the building had bravery ,because the could have died and that didn’t stop them even though some did pass away.what showed lots of bravery would be the regular people who helped save lives to because they didn’t have to help ,but still chose to. Another example of bravery would be when my father and i went to Nuevo Laredo and we saw a man laying down
