NU 413 Week 1 Discussion Board response to student Heidi Felt by Kathryn Moultrie
Good day Heidi,
I found you post interesting, and as to your question I have not seen, a facility that the nurses [OB] have such a huge responsibility. Labor room or birthing rooms on the unit yes but the other no “…a hospital which contain their own operating rooms, with each primary nurse serving the role of patient advocate, circulating nurse, scrub technician at times, PACU nurse along with being able to provide bedside care for their patients throughout labor”. It reminds me of a very similar situation in a facility where I was night supervisor where the “30 minuet rule for decision to incision” standard often occurred, and with less supporting staff,

“All the cells take in and use nutrients and other substances from their surroundings. Cells of the intestine and the kidney are specialized to carry out absorption. Cells of the kidney tubules reabsorb fluids and synthesize proteins. Intestinal epithelial cells reabsorb fluids and synthesize protein enzymes” (McCance & Huether, pg. 2).
The common gateway interface (CGI) is a standard way for a Web server to pass a Web user's request to an application program and to receive data back to forward to the user. It is part of the Web's Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). A disadvantage of a CGI application (or "executable file," as it is sometimes called) is that each time it is run, it runs as a separate process with its own address space, resulting in extra instructions that have to be performed, especially if many instances of it are running on behalf of users The improper use of CGI scripts affords users a number of vulnerabilities in system security.

Complete the outline following the instructions above. Use the example as a guide, using complete sentences for all subpoints.
The research problem can be developed from many sources. What is a source of nursing research? Identify a potential research study example from that source.
1.2 Explain circumstances when it is necessary to seek specialist expertise in relation to recruitment and selection.
“People are always selling the idea that people with mental illness are suffering. I think madness can be an escape. If things are not so good you might want to imagine something better” (John Porbes Nash, Jr). Studville season 1 began breaking down all the bad things that happened towards the end. It told a story of four studs dating four crazy fems. To break down my argument, I believe that people with mental illness may seem crazy, but you can’t judge a book by its cover.

1.1 Explain the importance of a holistic approach to assessment and planning of care or support.
Watching a medical show like, Gray’s Anatomy, the population get a dramatic and believable glimpse of life in an operating room (OR), but is it real? Today’s OR is a busy, bustling place for care of nervous, scared, and acutely ill members of society. The OR requires dedicated staffing and scope of service practices for care of these fragile patients trusting the staff to care for them during the operation. The author of this paper will explore the scope of service for all OR’s and determine staffing models necessary for safety of patients and employees alike. Many individuals see the OR as highly expensive area within the hospital due to equipment needs, instruments, supplies, suture, dressings, and everything in between; but, what does a typical day cost the hospital to staff and maintain the OR? How do long hours affect workplace and patient safety? The author will provide knowledge of staffing costs for an OR. Nursing in the OR takes a village of healthcare professionals working to achieve team work, effective communication, and collaboration, requiring diligent delegation for successful delivery of care for each patient. The OR is a fast paced area to work and patient safety is the most important skill to possess.

2. Working according to the agreed ways means following the organisation’s policy and procedures in relation to pressure areas. It also means following the individual care plans and respecting the instructions in place. For example making sure a resident is turned every two hours, applying Cavilon cream on areas; fill in turning charts, prompt fluid intake. Under the duty of care a care assistant must always be aware of and raise concerns regarding possible pressure areas. Always record information in care plans accurately and in confidentiality.
There are several reasons for the rapid increase in cesarean births. The relationships between maternal patients, nursing staff levels and nurse-sensitive outcomes have a direct correlation on the rapid increase of cesarean births. It is recognized that hospitals carry a significant burden in the prevention of adverse outcomes that range from nurse staffing levels to the internal process and infrastructure of the hospital setting (Wilson & Blegen, 2010). Nurses are expected to monitor and measure patient outcomes and the processes that are in place to achieve a high level of care. Nurse staffing is a significant part in the provision of care. Hospitals with better nurse staffing have better clinical outcomes, and higher staffing levels are associated with a 2% to 25% reduction in adverse events, which includes cesarean births (Wilson & Blegen, 2010).
