In the design, the topology used is a star topology. The computers in every office or classroom are linked to the central device known as the switch. The star topology leads to the expansion of the network without any disruption. This defines the use of a hub, a router or a switch to interconnect various computers together. All the workstations in this topology are connected with a connection of point-to-point to the central device. The data is first passed through the primary device before reaching the planned destination. Hub controls and manages the whole network. The hubs connect several nodes that are present in the star system. The hub acts as the signal booster (Elhakeem, 2010). The fault of one computer will not bring the impact …show more content…
The patch panel offers the network with the link spot between the equipment of the system and the ports where PCs are connected. Wireless access point can be located in the library. The WAP is used to give wireless accessibility to the internet through the router to where it’s needed. Router is a device for networking that sends packets of data between the networks of a computer. The packet of data is forwarded to routers of the networks that contain the internetwork until the packet is at the destination node. A router can be linked to several data lines from various systems. The router reads the address information in the packet to establish the ultimate destination when the data packet is in any data lines (Liu, 2012). Repeaters are devices for amplifying signals and retransmit at higher power on the area of an obstruction for the indication to cover longer detachments. They are used to in the transmission of structures to generate digital indicators distorted by the loss of the transmission. Hubs function as repeaters by transmitting messages to the related computers. The repeater does intellectual routing that can be acted upon by routers and bridges (Vachhani,
Questions will be out of order. How does measurements of SI help with business and commerce? Companies need the exact amount and ingredients of what to put in their product. Such as a can of soda. A can of soda normally contains 12 fluid ounces. 12 fluid ounces is approximately 354 grams. These companies are using some sort of measurement system. We use something called "imperial system" where as most countries use metric system. Governments don't want confusion to be amongst them, so they only adopt on system of measurement. Why do scientists only prefer one system of measurement? I think this is simply due to them not wanting to convert all their units into a whole other dimension. Besides the fact that people are lazy. One interesting feature
The teacher first explains to the class that they will be opening their reading notebook and will be working on their book holes. She grabs her own notebook to show the student how to make the notes page for the class. She explains first to find a new blank page in the notebook and then one it is found to fold the page in half (while demonstrating) and then to fold the other side in half (while demonstrating). When one student is finished she calls on him to hold the page up and show his classmates. Then she tells the students to turn back to that blank page and write “Holes” because that is the title of the book. Then she hands out an organizer to all students that is a character characteristics chart. This chart is used to help students
HUB - An Ethernet hub, active hub, network hub, repeater hub, multiport repeater or hub is a device for connecting multiple Ethernet devices together and making them act as a single network segment.
It provides the hardware means of sending and receiving data on a carrier, including defining cables, cards and physical aspects.
I am suddenly awaken, my dog Rangers is nosing me in my neck with her cold wet nose. I pretend that she did not wake me; she then persists and begins to lick my face. Get up she says, I got to potty. I look over and it is 0525, five minutes before my alarm sounds off. I think to myself I just want to lie there for a few more minutes but Ranger is pining to go outside, I can tell she is about to get boisterous and wake the entire house. Today is Wednesday, 18 August 2015; this is how my day begins.
This connection point allows all devices that are housed in a building to connect and communicate at an efficient rate. Therefore the employees and students who are able to connect to the network are more productive and but also do not have any cross-talking issues, loss of Internet speed or connectivity issues with other devices like printers and scanners within the network(Cisco).
The main objective of this lab is to design a network with and without switches and examine the network’s parameters in both the scenarios. Two such scenarios were created: 1) Only hub (where one hub is connected to 16 work stations) 2) Hub and Switch (where 8 work stations are connected for two hubs and a switch connecting them). Here, a hub is a device which
a.) The Graph for HubAndSwitch is almost identical to the OnlyHub scenario as observed in the following Graph for the Traffic Sent (Packets/sec):
Star topology is one of the most common network setups. In this arrangement, every node connects to a central hub, switch or computer; the hub acting as a server and the peripheral devices as clients. A major disadvantage of this network topology is that if the central hub fails, all of the connected devices are disconnected. In a star network layout, each workstation is connected by its own cable directly to the server. Star networks are usually the layout of choice in schools and offices because they tend to be the most reliable of the topologies. The visual example shows how this setup gets its name as it is shaped very much like a star.
In simple words, it can be explained as a method used for transmitting information over the lines between electronic devices. The device asks the information is called the Modbus Master and the devices supply information is Modbus Slaves. In a standard Modbus network, there is one Master and up to 247 Slaves, each with a unique Slave Address from 1 to 247. The Master can also write information to the
A hub and spoke infrastructure starts with a wireless controller that is connected to all access points on the network by wired connections. All of the changes and data are processed on the controller and then pushed to the access points as the
In a star network, all cables or nodes are connected to one central core which is the hub. This tends to be the most reliable topology.
Star network – client server architecture each workstation is connected by its own cable straight to the server. They are usually used in places like a school and office as they are the most reliable topology. They are most reliable because if one connection fails for a user it does not affect others. Data collisions is a rare thing. It also has good security no workstation can interact without going through the server first. Topology for a LAN all nodes are linked alone to a central connection point such as a hub.
In a full switched network, hubs are not used. Instead, switches are used with a dedicated segment for every node. In this type of network the switch picks up every transmission before it reaches another node. Since any segment only reaches a single node, the frame only reaches the intended recipient. This allows many conversations to happen at the same time. Switching also allows a network to maintain full-duplex Ethernet, which allows information to travel from node to switch and switch to node at the same time. Most networks do not exclusively use switches because of the costs involved with replacing all hubs. A combination of switches and hubs are typically used to create an efficient and less costly network (Tyson 2001).
