2. Every three months different workers from different departments will be selected to brainstorm ideas that would make convenience easier for our customers. Information we would gather is our forms format, how we conduct our telephone conversation, and how many sales representatives are on the floor assisting customers. Department heads will research those information and will present it in our meetings with a quick presentation reviewing what we could adjust for our customers and servicing them with a system that is effective.

In this next part we will talk about a software management plan, and why that is important as far as a Linux based server. The importance of the software management plan is and will always be because of the dependencies of the application software, and the OS security dependence of the updates. For this I would recommend using yum to make sure that things are up to date. Yum is an open source command line that allows you to manage packages on the Linux operating system. I would also use Apache throughout a lot of the processes, because within Apache you can decide what gets installed along with setting the security for what the YUM application can go out and update. Along with the use of Apache we will also be using SSH which is secure shell.

As a manager the three motivational methods that should be used would be to provide monetary incentives, employee recognition, and training incentives. Monetary incentives are one method that can be used by a leader or a manager in his or her workplace, these incentives is to reward an employee for his or her outrageous work-related performance. These incentives may include such as profit-sharing within the company, stock options, performance bonuses, and scheduled bonuses. These different types of monetary incentives can increase the motivation of its workers and can lead to more productive, less absenteeism, and may improve one’s quality of service. Monetary incentives when awarded to one employee may also be a morale booster can also encourage other workers to improve his or her work performance, and maintain a healthy, friendly, positive work environment. A healthy workplace is a product of a successful and productive work environment. Working in this kind of economy, monetary incentives is the excellent method to use. However, these incentives may persuade others and may not to some; the result will be the same, increased quality work

In today’s business world, it seems that the major pitfall is in employees’ lack of motivation and engagement in their positions. This results in decreased productivity and satisfaction, and overall diminished views of the establishment. The relationships between employers and employees also suffer from poor morale in the workplace. According to an article by Chris Musselwhite, Creating a Culture of Motivation, the first place to start in correcting this problem, is to educate managers on the benefits of an empowered workforce, and how to effectively inspire them.

Recognizing employees for accomplishments such as finishing a major project, reaching sales targets or providing excellent customer service can be an important motivating factor. Set goals for workers to strive for and offer rewards for reaching them. This could be in the form of an employee of the month scheme, a bonus, or a promotion. Some companies conduct meetings where employees are recognised for good work in front of their colleagues. This can help motivate all the workers in the business to strive for success.

All employees analyze their environment and strive to be recognized and rewarded for their hard work and dedication they put into the company, in a word they are seeking justice. Justice can be defined as a person receiving what they feel they are entitled to and if they do not receive what they deserve the situation may board on injustice. Unfortunately in today’s society justice and appreciation are not given out to all those deserving (Pinder, 1998). A major problem to address is how to keep the motivation level high in a company when the employees do not feel appreciated.

The central idea of this whole process is to create organizational surroundings that is not necessarily based on employee control but based on their participation and dedication (Tomer, 2001). Keeping employees motivated in addition to creating incentives and/or additional ways for employees to receive more compensation will create better performance overall within an organization. Contrary if company B gives their employees incentives to perform, without any motivational tactics they probably will not have as many top performances as company A, in addition the company may only seek short term rewards verses have long term success. Lack of motivation for employees within an organization, can cause long term damage for the company’s success. Different things motivate everyone; therefore there should be a system in place to keep employees motivated for the long term success of the company. In the MBM textbook under the concept of incentives, compensation, and motivation, there are a couple of different views of how it should be applied within an organization. We will discuss The Social Role of Profit, Personal Profit and Losses, and the way Market-Based Management view how incentives, compensation, and motivation should be applied and the things that effectively drive employees’ actions while at work.

Motivating individuals and groups at work often times can be a challenging task. Individuals must have the desire to want to be motivated. This challenge is difficult as individuals have different types of goals that motivate them. Motivation is typically driven by some sort of recognition. In today’s economic hardship businesses are having to do more with less. Businesses are downsizing, which causes them not to re-hire for open positions or eliminate unnecessary positions completely.
