It's the year 1983, and the students are protesting. Each one of those students are deprived of their beloved sugary cereal, Cap'n Crunch. The cry for Cap'n Crunch united the students of different backgrounds because they all had a common goal: to enjoy the well known breakfast cereal. Eventually, their supply meets the demand and the student achieved their goal; victory has never tasted as so sweet! This embodiment of student activism is what excites me the the most about attending Notre Dame. Not only am I challenged academically taking rigorous courses in the Gothic playground, but I will also be exercising my rights. Notre Dame offers so many academic opportunities that I will proudly take advantage of like child in a toy store. I will
We are warning you now, this apple pie will make your taste buds fall off.
On a dark stormy afternoon, an insubortenent and unruly 23 year old chemisty student named Billy Bob ( Also known as the Big Boom), sealed the official school document, banning cheez-its for life. It's thanks to this boy that we no longer have Cheez-Its at San Jacinto College. If he would just think before acting, and obey his chemistry teacher, these cheesy crackers would still be munched on by students all over the school all day and night
Reductio Ad Absurdum is an argumentative strategy that reduces an idea expressed to the absurd. In the film Bowling For Columbine, there are multiple examples of arguments being presented as absolutely ridiculous. The first example of this is the cartoon skit narrated by the talking bullet. This skit was a satire of the idea that guns have done nothing but help Americans with things such as settling in America, the Revolutionary War, slavery, and fighting against the civil rights movement (Moore). The second example of Reductio Ad Absurdum is when Michael Moore talked about how bowling may have inspired Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold to carry out the mass shooting (Moore).
You will grow closer to God. Throughout the high school years, you can see how apparent God is in your daily life. Notre Dame recognizes God and helps people grow in a
How Do You Like Spring Break? Are You for It or Against It? By Kirsten Stewart, Mar 4, 2024, Lubbock Texas “Do you like spring break,” I ask student Payton, “Yes, because we get a week off from school,” replies Payton. I agree with Payton because well for one, we do get a week off from school, freedom at last!
“Mom, come on!” I yell while I’m already rushing to the car. Soon enough, she comes out the garage and sits in front of me in the driver’s seat. I listen excitedly as her keys jingle and feel so much relief as the air vents come on, putting me out of my misery in the the dry, 95 degree heat. The radio plays in the background while I look out the window at the scenery I see everyday on my way to school.

According to Pollock (2017), when faced with moral judgment, one should look at four elements. The first element is Act. The concept of an act is more concerns with the intention and motive of the behavior. In this case, it would be necessary to know the intent of the action to judge whether the act is moral or immoral. The second element is Only Human Acts which only apply to humans because humans are believed to be the only animals that have the capability to judge whether something is moral or immoral. The third element is Free Will, which states that moral responsibility is not assigned to a person who is not aware of what is going on around them to be capable of deciding on whether something is right or wrong. The fourth element is Affects Others, which proclaimed that behavior is judged when such behavior affects others.
Currently in the University of Missouri there are hundreds of black students protesting over what they believe is right. The university of Missouri has shown some sketchy behavior towards their students of color, which is causing racial tensions on campus. This sparked students into action; they have been protesting incidents that they believe were not handled correctly. These students took it in their own hands to speak out on the social injustice they have noticed in their school. It shows how university students are working with each other to work for the same cause that can benefit the whole school. The students are leading with integrity because they are fighting for something they believe for. They are speaking up for what they want to
So what have you given up for Lent? That is a normal question that we hear this time of year. Are you sacrificing and giving up your favorite food, letting go of a bad habit or “taking on something” that will give you a better understanding of what our Savior did on the cross for each of us. The idea of “taking on something” is a new way of looking at this penitential season. It helps us think of how we might do something for others or ourselves as a way of sharing who we are with one another, reminding us of God’s grace and what our Savior is calling us to do and be in this world.
Mike Nichols' 1967 film The Graduate entertained American audiences with its stark portrayal of seduction, betrayal, and inter-generational conflict, ultimately winning Nichols the Academy Award for Best Director. The film seemed to speak to the political and social events of the era, and its message of youthful escape from the dictates of the old guard resonated with a generation of young people growing up in the midst of "The Greatest Generation's" stunning failure to live up to the ideas that supposedly defined their generation. However, a close look at the film's plot alongside the mis-en-scene of dramatic final scene reveals that far from offering a message of rebellion or escape, The Graduate just reinforces conservative ideology by celebrating the concept of marriage and chastity. Ultimately, The Graduate turns out to be nothing more than a slickly produced piece of conservative propaganda, using the themes of the 1960s' emerging sub-cultures in order to mask its own destructive message.
Now, to sum up your theory... In our remote future will emerge a small, almost scale-less entity...
The cereal industry is very adamant on using a differentiation strategy to make one’s brand stand out in the minds of certain people. The companies break down the public into different target markets; and then make products that will be attractive to their target markets. Companies make different brands for young kids, teenagers, adults, and people who are health conscience. Currently, there are 387 different brands of cereal sold in the United States and each family is estimated to purchase 17 different brands per year. (O’Connor, Amy) Companies continue to brainstorm for new product ideas to attract the various market segmentations.
The revolution lead to a revolt as well as the rebirth of the old classic coke. Two new campaigns were introduced after the consumer crisis in 1985: the most popular Red White and You, pathetic appeal for Coca-Cola classic and the Catch the Wave for the new taste of coke (“The Real Story of New Coke”). During the summer, Coca- Cola announced the taste variance; frantic consumers purchased coke in bulk hoarding the remains in their homes while others formed protest bands with claims to having brought back the original formula. Coke’s prior history is significant because they used their short fall as a comeback. For instance if you fail a test but then study harder for the next one and receive a passing grade, you have redeemed yourself. Same with failing in an area of life there is still a chance reclaim the past downfall to enrich the future.
Some scientists and engineers figure out that a better way to fight against the climate change and reduce the greenhouse gas emission is supporting “nuclear energy” (“Climate Change”). Nuclear generation is also one of the energy that is able to supply the world’s electricity. Additionally, the nuclear generation currently avoids the emission “over two billion tons of carbon dioxide each year” (“Climate Change”). It is an economic development and greenhouse gas emission reductions. Currently, many countries are planning to use nuclear generation because it is helpful to meet their emission reduction.
