The College of Education at Northeastern Illinois University service framework provides principles that govern both its internal as well as external initiatives (NEIU 1). The framework provides both the theoretical constructs as well as philosophical underpinnings that define the courses, teaching, student and staff at performance. The framework is based on three pillars; to adequately prepare “teaching scholars, the education leaders and developers of human resources” (NEIU 3). The philosophy is diversity-orientated in the sense that it accommodates individuals with diverse needs, cultural orientations, personal and religious affiliations. This diversity approach shapes a university that is motivated by collaborative democracy (NEIU 2).
