Heartbreak and time travel make for a powerful mix in NO TIME TO SAY GOODBYE by Bill Adler Jr.
Verdict: In NO TIME TO SAY GOODBYE, Bill Adler Jr. mixes time travel and romance to a great effect. Constrained by its novella form though, the story can't explore all the potential of its rich premise. 4 out of 5 stars.

In NO TIME TO SAY GOODBYE Bill Adler Jr. comes up with a fascinating premise, bringing a sci-fi twist to a story about a loving couple trying to cope with a terminal disease. However, due to the story being so short, a good deal of this potentially powerful drama is left unexplored as the story rushes forward along with its protagonist.
Tanner travels further and further away from his own time, all the while struggling with a crushing sense of loneliness and powerlessness. As he arrives in future New York, NO TIME TO SAY GOODBYE offers tantalizing glimpses of societal changes and advancements in technology. And yet, for the most part, this future remains largely unexplored even after Tanner briefly meets beautiful Leah, a New York resident and his guide to the world of the year 2300.
To the story's credit, NO TIME TO SAY GOODBYE comes up with a satisfying ending as well as with a fairly interesting - if somewhat rushed - explanation for the true nature of Dennis Tanner's predicament. There's even a humorous epilogue to the story.
NO TIME TO SAY GOODBYE is a soft sci-fi story focusing on characters instead of science. Too bad then, that we don't get to see more of his characters and the way they're changed by their extraordinary experiences. Bill Adler Jr. wrote a decent if flawed novella. Hopefully, one day we might get to see it expanded into a full
A book is like a door, without stepping through the door, you will never know what's on the other side. It is a mystery that can only be unveiled if you open it and look through it. Dana Gioia wants us to take that mystery and open it up, as many young adults have lost interest in the action of reading itself.
Every author has their own way of making the elements of fiction work the best in the best interest of their narrative. One of the most important elements of fiction is the character. The character brings the story to life and gives one narrative something another narrative may not have, even if the stories are the same. The character in Elizabeth Tallent’s "No One's a Mystery" in contrast to the character in Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour" has a different outlook on the future even though both women are in a similar situation. The narratives are about young women in love and in relationships. However, one woman is content in staying in her unstable relationship, while the other is dying to escape her unhappy relationship. Their objectives are completely different as far as their futures are concerned, but both women seem to share the uncertainty of the current situation they find themselves in.
Someone once said; “When we acknowledge the value in every human life and witness such, we thrive and succeed and protect one another”. The value in life is a prospect that should not be suppressed, even in times of hardship. Conveying this message through literary elements can be tough at times, consequently leaving the message unclear. Neal Shusterman’s “Unwind” demonstrates the opposite and conveys the theme thoroughly, leaving no room for uncertainty. His characters, one of the most important elements of an amazing story, all adapt realistically to a situation where the safety of their life comes first. Additionally, the conflict in “Unwind” is a central point of interest and engages the reader in the motives behind the battle faced by the characters. Finally, the narrative perspective further expresses a sense of meaningfulness when dealing with the topic of life significance. Evidently, Shusterman emphasizes the worth in human life through his character development, the conflicts and the theme.
Lastly, one of the best stories from this book "The story of an hour" by Kate Chopin, which narrates a couple marriage who loves very much each other. One day, Mrs. Ballard got informed from her sister, Josephine that her husband just passes away in a railroad accident. Mrs. Ballard suffer from heart problems and these news made her depresses and completely destroyed. This story takes only one hour and is very short which is why the title is named like that. At the end of the story, Mr. Brently Ballard returns from work and opens the door and they see each other. Mrs. Ballard who can't believed that her husband is alive, and she dies instantaneously. The impact of seeing him alive was so hard that heart couldn't resist and unfortunately, she died.. We can obtain a really good message from these story, which is that don't say things without being completely sure otherwise you can hurt very sadly and brutally people that you love so much.
but now he has no idea what his future might hold. “Story of an Hour” by Kate Chopin and “A & P” by
Thesis statement: The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin has a unique and intelligent concept, but is defeated by lack of story building and a rushed, badly constructed ending. The Interlopers by Saki has a much more basic premise, but uses natural storytelling elements to create seamless story progression and a more powerful message.

You never called, you never wrote, you never even told me you were leaving. I just woke up one morning and my best friend had abandoned me."
Kate Chopin, the author of “The Story of An Hour” is a very optimistic writer. With the short story being about the death of Mr.Mallard’s husband dying, it would most likely be viewed as a sad event. Kate however, focuses on all the joy and happiness that Mrs.Mallard is feeling due to her husband's death.
To begin with, Anne Helen Petersen’s article That Teenage Feeling: Twilight, Fantasy, and Feminist Readers, explores the submissive power role through representation of intimate relationships. Petersen focuses on the Twilight series, mainly highlighting Bella’s actions and her choice to engage in submissive/dangerous situations. Within the text of Twilight, Bella is “free” to “choose” to give up her human life, including going to college, having a job and independence, for eternity with Edward (Petersen 344). Bella is the fictional personification of the male-controlled woman, and her fantasy through the stories and media overthrows the view of female independence. Fantasies create pleasure through the representation of a wish, but also by

“Please, don’t go.” My best friend since middle school was asking me to do the one thing I couldn’t. “If you leave now, you won’t be captain of the tennis and debate teams. Come on man, we’ve been dreaming about this for years,” he pleaded. “Sorry, I can’t miss this. Besides, we’ll always keep in touch,” I replied while trying not let my voice catch.
“The Story of an Hour” written by Kate Chopin, depicts an emotionally imprisoned widow that finds freedom in her husband’s death through the use of imagery that describes the present, her future, and grief. Louise learns of her husband’s death from her sister. As she isolates herself from her family, she sees “the delicious breath of rain was in the air”. “There were patches of blue sky showing here and there through the clouds that had met and piled one above the other in the west facing her window.”
