A book is like a door, without stepping through the door, you will never know what's on the other side. It is a mystery that can only be unveiled if you open it and look through it. Dana Gioia wants us to take that mystery and open it up, as many young adults have lost interest in the action of reading itself.

Every author has their own way of making the elements of fiction work the best in the best interest of their narrative. One of the most important elements of fiction is the character. The character brings the story to life and gives one narrative something another narrative may not have, even if the stories are the same. The character in Elizabeth Tallent’s "No One's a Mystery" in contrast to the character in Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour" has a different outlook on the future even though both women are in a similar situation. The narratives are about young women in love and in relationships. However, one woman is content in staying in her unstable relationship, while the other is dying to escape her unhappy relationship. Their objectives are completely different as far as their futures are concerned, but both women seem to share the uncertainty of the current situation they find themselves in.

Someone once said; “When we acknowledge the value in every human life and witness such, we thrive and succeed and protect one another”. The value in life is a prospect that should not be suppressed, even in times of hardship. Conveying this message through literary elements can be tough at times, consequently leaving the message unclear. Neal Shusterman’s “Unwind” demonstrates the opposite and conveys the theme thoroughly, leaving no room for uncertainty. His characters, one of the most important elements of an amazing story, all adapt realistically to a situation where the safety of their life comes first. Additionally, the conflict in “Unwind” is a central point of interest and engages the reader in the motives behind the battle faced by the characters. Finally, the narrative perspective further expresses a sense of meaningfulness when dealing with the topic of life significance. Evidently, Shusterman emphasizes the worth in human life through his character development, the conflicts and the theme.

Lastly, one of the best stories from this book "The story of an hour" by Kate Chopin, which narrates a couple marriage who loves very much each other. One day, Mrs. Ballard got informed from her sister, Josephine that her husband just passes away in a railroad accident. Mrs. Ballard suffer from heart problems and these news made her depresses and completely destroyed. This story takes only one hour and is very short which is why the title is named like that. At the end of the story, Mr. Brently Ballard returns from work and opens the door and they see each other. Mrs. Ballard who can't believed that her husband is alive, and she dies instantaneously. The impact of seeing him alive was so hard that heart couldn't resist and unfortunately, she died.. We can obtain a really good message from these story, which is that don't say things without being completely sure otherwise you can hurt very sadly and brutally people that you love so much.

Kate however, focuses on all the joy and happiness that Mrs.Mallard is feeling due to her husband's death.

You’d expect a coach to be some hard-headed, always mad, get in your face type of person, but then you take a good look at Coach Plane and it’s a geeky, family-oriented, leader figure.

As she isolates herself from her family, she sees “the delicious breath of rain was in the air”. “There were patches of blue sky showing here and there through the clouds that had met and piled one above the other in the west facing her window.”

Soon Mason started laughing at a memory from the future where he tried asking a girl out and got rejected. The memories seemed to now be when he was 38. He had seen himself getting married to the same girl that rejected him as well.

Departure time is a short story written by Tessa Green, who is also a painter and solicitor. It was published in 2013 in the collection Once Upon a Time There Was a Traveller. All of the stories in the collection revolve around the theme of travelling, and so does this one.
