Nikola Tesla was an inventor and engineer who made many things we us now. Tesla was born on July 10, 1856 in Smiljan, Croatia. And died in New York at the age of 86 on January 7, 1943. He was a tall man at the height of 6 feet and 2 inches. He contributed to the discovery of the AC system and also made the Tesla Coil which are both still used today around the world. Some would even call him a “mad scientist”. He was one of five children his siblings were Marica, Dane, Milka, and Angelina Tesla. His his father was Milutin Tesla mother was Djuka Mandic.His father was an orthodox priest and writer, he was pushing for Nikola to follow in his footsteps and go into priesthood. He studied at the Polytechnic Institute, the University of Prague, Austria, Karlstadt, and Realschule. Then Nikola moved to Budapest, while he was there he worked at the Central Telephone Exchange. Eventually he removed himself from polytechnic school and started working for the Continental Edison Company. Hoping to meet Edison himself he came to America in 1884 and eventually did work with Edison.

He then briefly worked with Thomas Edison, helping him with his DC- based electrical works. The only records they have for Tesla working for Edison is his employment list and his salary documents as an Electrical Engineer. His salary was $100 while working for Edison. Months later the two parted ways. Along his way to being a famed inventor he had many obstacles, for example some of his projects and laboratories have been in devastating fires or blown out from power outages.

He's said that he has photographic memory which helped him with memorizing his plans, diagrams, inventions, etc. This also helped him memorize and be fluent in eight different languages. These including English, Serbo-Croatian, German, French, Czech, Latin, Italian, and
