The research professor at the University of Houston Brene Brown once said “ There is no innovation and creativity without failure. Period.” If one does not fail, then one can never innovate. Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor in the nineteen hundreds. He was born in Smiljan Croatia, but soon moved to Shoreham, Long Island, New York where he discovered the alternating current. (“Nikola Tesla,” 2018). Nikola Tesla created the alternating current, and innovated the field of inventing, and illuminated the world by changing the way currents move.
Nikola Tesla created various mechanisms that related to electricity, but the invention he is known for the most is the alternating current. He worked with bounteous people, including Thomas Edison. In 1885 It was a war of currents between Tesla’s alternating current and Edison’s direct current. Eventually, Tesla’s alternating current caught the attention of George Westinghouse. George Westinghouse was a businessman and an engineer. George Westinghouse was trying to find a way to supply the nation with long distance power. One of his discoveries was that he proved that electricity could be transferred without using wires. He found this out when he designed the Tesla coil. During his lifetime his parents died, which was incredibly devastating to him. When his parents died, he almost quit science forever. When Tesla was younger, he always wanted to be a scientist. Tesla predicted that his older brother would take on his dad’s role as a priest. This left Tesla with an opportunity to become a scientist. However, Tesla’s brother died at an early age so he had to become a priest. He refused to become a priest because he had a passion for science.
