In times of distress the good will come out in people and show who they really are and reveling their identity. People will fight for people and fight for what Is right. Just like in the holocaust when the Jews never stopped fighting to survive. People will support others if they are in a very bad situation. As seen in the book Night By Elie Wesel, when the Jews were held captive in the concentration camps, the adult prisoners were helping the children to survive. This just shows how individuals will stand up for one another in times of distress. Another part of this is looking in the eyes of the enemy. ‘’Please, Sir… I’d like to be near my father says Elie, ‘’ Alright. Your father will work here next to you replies the German soldier. This
It was midnight, while he sat there nearly asleep, contemplating on something that made him dismal, and sorrowful, he heard someone knocking on his door.

This is a memoir called Night. Night is about a survivors view of the Holocaust. This survivor is Elie Wiesel. He is a Jewish-American professor at Boston University. He has written 57 books, including Night, based on his experiences as a prisoner in the Auschwitz, Buna, and Buchenwald concentration camps. Night starts out in his hometown Sighet, Transylvania. They started out as a happy family and Elie was studying more about his faith to become more with it. Then came the Germans. They gathered all of the Jews and put them into a ghetto. “New edicts were already being used. we no longer had the right to frequent restaurants or cafe, to travel by rail, to attend synagogue, to be on the streets after six o’clock in the evening. Then came the ghettos.” -Night ,page 11. They all were eventually put into cattle cars and then shipped off to the concentration camps.
Title: The title Night refers to the consistent night metaphor Elie Wiesel employs throughout the book. "Night" refers to the darkness of life, mind, and soul experienced by all who suffered in Nazi concentration camps during World War II. Elie and his family are taken away on a dark night, which is why I think that Elie referred to the title Night as a terrible time because of all the bad things that happened to him and his family during the night-time and to the many other Jews.
In the memoir Night, the author, Elie Wiesel, uses vividly descriptive diction to establish the theme that one should never let go of their goals. After Elie and his family were forced to leave their home, they were loaded into a box car. Elie recalls that, “After two days of traveling [on the train], [ they] began to be tortured by thirst.” (Wiesel 21). Elie Wiesel’s choice of the word torture, instantly brings to mind a picture of people going through unbearable suffering. His vivid descriptions easily bring to mind instant images of what the text is depicting. Through Elie’s ride in the box car, he never let go of his goal of survival. His vivid description of the box car show you what Elie had to withstand while never letting go of his
Night by Elie Wiesel describes his experiences as a Jew in the concentration camps during World War II. Wiesel and other Jews survived, but many others did not. One of the key components to the Jews’ survival was faith or hope.
The book, Night, is a memoir written by Elie Wiesel, which tells a story of Elie and his terrifying experience during the Holocaust. Elie was a 15-year-old Jewish teenager when he and his family got deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp. First, when he arrives at the camp, he gets separated from his mother and sisters. Moreover, his only hope becomes to stay with his old father and be with him as they transfer from one camp to the next. There he perceives the destruction of humanity and also faces extreme cruelty. Elie talks about the death of his family members and therefore how he changes as an individual. Throughout various experiences and in extreme situations, humans can persevere. People survive when they have a desire to live and someone along their journey. They do not lose hope in life and keep their faith. Most importantly, they show courage and do not relinquish in difficult situations. Humans can endure extreme suffering by having companionship, remaining faithful in life, and being valiant in the situation.
Night is a novel by Elie Wiesel. In the beginning, Elie’s faith was strong and one of the main parts of his life. He strives to study Kabbalah and finds someone named Moishe the Beadle to teach him. Moishe is then deported and somehow makes his way back. He tries to warn the town of the Nazis and explains what happened to him.
Circumstances change a person’s perspective. Those who seem to be caring can change under the radar. Those who change see it as the only way out of dire situations. It then becomes a game of survival of the fittest, or life and death. What may make humans change or become cruel can be political reasons, the theory of abstract, and personal issues. Politics can trap people in a cruel mindset of humanity.
When a person has the strength to survive, even though they are going through such a hard time, usually have something that helps them keep going. In the Novel Night, written by Elie Wiesel, tells the story of how a young boy survived the Holocaust while many others perished. By examining the novel Night, we can see that hope is the key to survival, which is important because those who do not have hope often lose themselves along the way with nothing to look forward to.
An important nonfiction book that I think everyone should read is Night by Elie Wiesel. This book was published in 1960 by Hill and Wang. It has 116 pages and it is told by a man who survived the Holocaust. This was a very important moment in history that everyone needs knowledge on.

Dr. Steve Maraboli, a behavioral scientist, once said, “Every single time you help somebody stand up, you are helping humanity rise” (“goodreads” n.pag.). People’s positive view on society is dependent on someone stepping up and helping out someone that could use a boost. In troublesome situations, people do not always have a positive figure to stand up for them, but when they do, this can affect people’s positive outlook on the world.
In 1939, while the the world was still reeling from World War I, a man named Adolf Hitler led Nazi Germany into a second world war. This man became the figurehead at the helm of an operation that ruthlessly murdered countless human beings in concentration camps, brutal prisons that came to be known as hell on earth. Together with those persecuted and killed were over six million Jewish people. This attempted annihilation and genocide became known as the Holocaust. Elie Wiesel describes his experience at the infamous concentration camp, Auschwitz, in his chilling memoir, Night. As he struggles to survive the brutal conditions of the camp, he often describes the eyes of himself, of his father, of his oppressors, and of his fellow prisoners. The eyes appear as a powerful symbol and is used to demonstrate and emphasize the change in actions, thoughts, or perspectives of various characters throughout the book, especially the loss of hope, the loss of innocence, and the loss of humanity.
