"We're going back tomorrow. Are you guys up for another trip?"

Nick and Derby both answered the bank robber with firm "Yes."

"Great, let's meet at the interstate bridge. Say eight o'clock. Maybe we can get two trips in."

On the ride back to the farm Joker brought up the subject of survivors. "I wonder how many are out there. Hiding in some building. They probably barely made it through the end of the last winter. I doubt many will make it through another."

"Anyone left won't be in a city or town of any size. A lot that didn't get eaten, starved or got sick and died. Those college kids didn't want to come in. I bet quite a few either saw us and hid or couldn't get our attention in time" Trey replied .

The digging went quickly with fresh workers to switch out with. Inside the house, Derby was amazed at the radio equipment. Trey broke the bad news that the front door was nailed shut. Getting the corpse outside was difficult. With more room, each man grabbed a stiff appendage and juggled the load through the wooden gate.

It was awkward putting poor Abel in the ground at an angle, not having considered his frozen limbs while digging. Filling the hole went much quicker than the digging had. The others looked at Trey to say something about the deceased. "Abel, we're sorry you decided it was time to go. We'll miss your skill."
The group nodded following the bank robber back inside. He found what he was looking for in a hall closet and was sure Abel would understand. He was wearing the tanker holster and carrying the old rifle when they firmly closed the back door.

Nick and Derby came back from their scout of the interstate. "There was one dead head way down the road to the east" Derby informed the criminals. "It might get here by the time we come back. Maybe I can borrow your rifle again" he added with a smile.

"Just say the word brother" Trey answered
