There is so much that continues to happen in the media that affect all of us especially our kids. The information that the media pours out has social responsibility. Music, clothing, behaviors all have been and can be influenced by the media. You have teenagers that base their clothing on what a lot of these celebrity’s wear. I personally try to stay out of the habit of following trends but it does get hard.
Political opinions are the absolute worst in my opinion especially this past election year social media blew up over the presidential elections and I found out a lot about how people truly felt on issues. A lot of race came up throughout social media

Television has been influential in United States presidential elections since the 1960’s. But just what is this influence, and how has it affected who is elected? Has it made elections fairer and more accessible, or has it moved candidates from pursuing issues to pursuing image? The media only impacts the American Society, especially for the presidential election as it increases the talks in politics and gives the president a higher role to follow. The television race captures more popularity than what a citizen is actually voting for.
The candidates, especially Donald Trump, said nasty, childish, and very unpresidential things on social media to one another. The tweets and posts that the candidates posted created many arguments between voters as well. Sanders goes on to explain that when people argued about politics on social media, the topics very rarely had to do with the policies that the candidates promoted. The conversation topics are always about the scandals of each candidate, not their beliefs. The CEO of Talkwalker which is a social media analytics company said that, “‘Social media may have played a role in creating a kind of scandal-driven, as opposed to issue-driven, campaign…” (Sanders). The three most common political conversations on social media, according to Talkwalker, were regarding Trump’s comments about women, Clinton’s emails, and Trump not releasing his tax returns. Sanders states that we, as a society, are much more concerned with the scandals of our candidates rather than their political ideas and opinions. That combined with the overwhelming presence of candidates like Trump on social media made for an overpowering election
When it comes to election time the media has a way of showing what each candidate stands for and their view on certain topics. In the 1964, 1972, 1980, and 1988 the Democratic Party had the same main views throughout the four elections; however election-by-election, piece-by-piece, little things began to change. The Democratic Party began to evolve over the twenty-four year period. As well as the campaign videos used by the media to depict the candidates also evolved.
The media are the founder of Trump presidency. I don't think Trump would have been elected to be our next president, if the media had never gave him the free coverage in the beginning; they planted a seed for Trump to grow in the general election, and I'm sicken by all of the media coverage he has gotten. The media seemed to have normalized Trump, and didn't do enough of good job to stop Trump, from being elected.
On September 26, 1960 the presidential debate was televised for the first time. Kennedy was charismatic and confident, while Nixon seemed flustered. This made Nixon seem like a bad choice for president. For Obamas's election, he used social media in his favor with the most shared thread ever. Social media is important to presidential election because it keeps people up-to-date, makes some candidates more popular, and has influenced past elections.

Yet television has had a negative impact on presidential elections due to an image over ideals mindset, nationwide consensus, and thirst of ratings from broadcasters. These changes has led to television creating a false image upon which the presidency projects itself towards the American public.

Television is a form of communication that can be used to transfer information to the general public, and its full value and effects can be seen at all times, especially during election seasons. To some extent, this medium has helped people make informed decisions on which candidate is suitable to be president. However, this positive influence could distract people from focusing on policy and turn the election into a popularity contest.
The media has always had a powerful impact on public opinion in Britain. With several different types and means of communication, such as TV, newspapers, social networking and radio, it is difficult for the public to not be even slightly impacted by the opinion of thousands that surrounds them every day. However, with newspapers spinning stories to promote the party they favour (such as the Daily Mail in favour of Conservatives or the Mirror in favour of Labour ) or to disparage the opposition, is it clear there is any obvious influence from the media towards the public in relation to reporting on British Politics?
Media is known as the “king maker” for many reasons, such as shaping candidates in audience’s perspective. Television has been a big influence in shaping voters choice and labeling political parties, even though some believe media information can be scant in regards to candidates. Media can be anything from television to social media networks and how many people think that media is a great influence, some also think it can be a problem. “It only takes 140 characters to damage a political campaign” in which Smith is referring to social media as being a problem. The media is a huge part in everyone's lives and they have a great influence on the actions we partake in on a daily basis. Though adults don't usualy fall into the pressure of the media, young children and teenagers ae highly sussestable to what the media is telling them to do and what's 'cool'. A major action glorified by the media is smoking and it pressures minors to take up the horrible habit as an attempt to be happy or some how be like their favorite celebrity. Media and holly wood especially have both contributed to an era of people smoking and are a direct cause for the increase of youth smoking today.
When the White House felt a retraction was not enough because so much harm had already been done, the media got extremely upset with the White House, due to the pressure they were putting on the publication (52-53). Begala agrees with Hewitt that the media has a bias, but argues that it is a liberal bias. He cites the media's obsession with the Clinton and Monica Lewinsky scandal and how, "Even when Clinton was leaving office, he was hounded and pounded by the press" (199). He argues the news coverage was unfair, brutal and unethical in the way both Bill and Hillary Clinton were treated during the scandal (200). Begala also says Al Gore was treated very poorly by the press during the election, by being misquoted. Gore made major contributions during the early phases of the internet and made a comment on CNN saying he "took the initiative in creating the Internet." Begala argues this was blown out of proportion and more than a thousand articles have been written quoting Gore saying he said he "invented the internet" (202). The people's perception that certain publications are bias can have a negative affect on journalists as a whole. While the public demands that the press question politicians, Robinson says there is public discontent when bad news is reported due to the publics distrust in news and a "kill the messenger syndrome." Media such as the internet, broadcasting, and publishing is a way to express opinions and keep up to date with the latest fashion trends. While these trends continue to go on, new trends are thought of, the trends may be a little tricky to keep up with even for celebrities. While the thought of being perfect for society, cause many adolescents to breakdown for following the false beliefs of society. Some people may use the media to be updated on important news. On the other hand, others believe the media is a horrible setting, resulting in adolescent to do whatever it takes to become just like them, poisoning their minds to become something they are not. The media produces bad influences for body image and messes with adolescents’ minds.
Media influence is the force by which ideas are injected into people’s lives shaping the very culture of society. This influence is masqueraded through hidden media message, resulting in a change in its audience which can be positive or negative, abrupt or gradual, short term or long term. Although mass media’s influential effect can reach a wide ranged audience as an agent of socialization the responsibility to contain what it releases has not been of importance. “The media’s socially significant obligations are formally ignored.” (A.S. Zapesotskii, 2011, p 9).
