Contemporary SUVs are not much different from minivans, but there are a handful of models including the Land Rover LR4 designed for rugged off-road duty. The LR4 has a safari-like design, but brings in all the creature comforts customers demand in a modern 5- or 7-passenger midsize SUV.
The 2016 Land Rover LR4 is a midsize SUV available in three trims: base, HSE, and HSE Luxury. A 3.0-liter, supercharged V-6 engine is standard and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
A permanent 4x4 system is standard and is controlled by a panel located at the base of the center console. An available two-speed transfer gearbox provides shift-on-the-fly capability. The current edition is the fourth generation of an SUV series previously marketed as the Discovery, LR2, and the LR3.

A square profile and tall roof pillars are among the more notable features of the Land Rover LR4. This 4x4 SUV seems like it would be just as familiar with plying the grasslands of the Masai Mara National Reserve as it would navigating the teeming streets of Manhattan. That seems like a contradiction for most SUVs, but not so for Land Rover.
The boxy lines of the LR4 demonstrate the heft of this near three-ton SUV. Aerodynamics were hardly a concern when its designers crafted a model that seems closer to the original 1948 Land Rover than any other vehicle offered by this British brand today.
The front fascia is marked by a broad grille with traditional headlamps present. The lower
The auto show model was the Lexus LF-FC flagship concept, what the company describes as “a visionary new vehicle that offers a peek into the design and technology direction of the brand’s future flagship sedan.” The style is unlike anything Lexus has offered before, but the same can be said for its technology as it is a fuel cell car. More about that later.
Regarding consumer perceptions of major SUV brands, the Land Rover Discovery shared the highest score on quality of 7.4 with the Ford Explorer and Toyota 4Runner. Additionally, the Discovery enjoyed the highest rating of 7.6 on safety. Having the highest score on the two most important factors in the SUV purchase helped position the Discovery very strongly despite its lack of awareness.

Reinventing oneself is always challenging and a bit scary, which qualities to keep and which ones to change or discard. The same is true for a car manufacturer, and now Lexus is taking on a similar challenge with the reinvention of its luxury crossover of the 2016 RX 350. The first major change is the sleeker body, and then its large spindle grille in front that almost resembles a Star Wars mask. Subtle it's not. That combined with a sharply angled windshield and sculptured sides make this luxury crossover SUV more carlike, and that's good. The high beams, low beams, and taillights are LEDs, and the power liftgate can be opened with the wave of a hand, or an foot, at the Lexus logo on the hatch. Yet all this uber style doesn't take away from some other significant changes. Once inside, the cabin is spacious with plenty of light and air, even though it looks low from the outside. It’s almost five inches longer and
The rear park assist system comes as standard equipment; it uses the navigation system which links to a rear facing camera to assist drivers when they are trying to park this large SUV. Other options are a remote start function that is able to either heat or cool the interior of Escalade to your desired setting making it all the more comfortable in hot or very cold weather.

Style-wise, the HR-V offers a tidy, if not quirky package. We like some of the individual parts, such as the grille and profile, but put it all together and the exterior seems busy, even disjointed. That said, give Honda big marks for standard alloy wheels and the tucked-in rear door handles. We’re just not sure what Honda had in mind when tying various and discordant design elements together.
