The New School Personal Statement The New School has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve been a part of the community for a while since my mom has been working there for years. The amount of visits and classes I've taken there just makes me feel more and more like I'm already part of the welcoming and sophisticated community The New School radiates. I chose The New School because of it’s unique combination of liberal arts, performing arts, and design in the heart of New York City. The variety of programs offered in each school is vital to me because it makes me feel like I have a choice. I don't feel cornered or trapped into making one decision. I can write

Whether it's creative writing, analysis essays or just research papers, finding new ways to express my thoughts with colorful language is exciting to me. Your Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts school offers me the opportunity to combine all those writing types into one major. The Culture and Media major appeals to me most due to its broad topics of study. I can be trained in all the topics that interest me at once without having to go through the troubles of double majoring. The small and concentrated aura around this college is perfect for me because I have always worked better in calmer environments. The fact that this program is more student led and independent is also ideal for me, being someone who prefers to be in charge of my education and my work proves this. Not only is writing a big part of my life, I've been playing music since I was six years old. Piano specifically. I was trained classically since the start of my musical career and have done a few recitals showcasing my talent. Since the start of freshman year I have picked up on trombone and I love it. I always thought music would be my first choice for everything. It was only recently where I realized that practically, writing is the way to go. I think I am better at writing, it comes naturally for me. Even though music stays a very prominent part of my life, I’ve decided to minor in Music Composition so I can still have that part of me present without completely throwing it
After transferring to Hope College, I realized just how much writing and music have in
I have always had an interest in improving the community around us, and would like to be involved in this role by helping out in the community. By joining NHS, I aspire to enhance some of my skills, such as ambition, collaboration, and leadership. I hope to increase my initiative to provide service in the community and to take chances out of my comfort zone. By helping out in the community more with service projects I hope to improve my collaborative, management and people skills. In addition, I hope to improve my leadership skills through public service projects. These projects will not only give me more experience with leadership, but they will also motivate me to help my community and my peers with their endeavors. I believe that joining the National Honor Society at River Hill will teach me essential skills for my future, and improve my community.
The personal statement is very important to applicants who intend to be admitted to an undergraduate or graduate school. The role of a personal statement is to make applicants be different from other applicants. It mainly serves the purposes of persuading the admission committee of applicants’ great passion for the study field, explaining their experience that shaped their personality, demonstrating their longtime desire and commitment for the degree, and showing their life goals. What the admission committee is looking for in a personal statement varies from school to school, major to major. Art and Design is a unique program requiring its prospective students to be different in every aspect. The Art and Design Admission Committee is looking for a student who has creative potential in all respects. Hence, for those who want to apply to the School of Art and Design, they should understand how to present their stories, experiences, practice, goals, philosophy, inspirations, and aspirations in a creative way.
I am majoring in liberal arts right now and I am looking into a few different majors for when I transfer to my next school. My thoughts have been narrowed down to a few subjects in the same field, journalism, creative writing, or general writing. English was always my favorite subject in school and it was great to be able to take college english courses while still in high school. In the jumpstart class, I took English 151 and creative writing during the course of the year, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It led me to take Introduction to Poetry in my first semester at college and a world literature class in my second semester. Now that I’ve taken a media writing course, all my options are up in the air for me to choose. All the classes I have been taking feel like a step in the right direction, even if I can’t find a career in writing right out of college. All I can ask is that you consider me for a scholarship and I will do my best to earn
The decision to go to Converse College was protracted. It took over a year to decide that this would be my home for four or more years. I chose Converse for a number of reasons; the music department, the music professors, the tuition, and the campus.
One of the most unique traits of Central High School is its commitment to provide a well- rounded education in a variety of academic fields. As a student with a wide range of interests in both the sciences and arts, I see this institution as one that has the potential to give me the most forward-focused experience as a high school student. Not only does it offer all the resources and support expected of an exemplary establishment, it also exposes one to impressively diverse academics, individuals, and extracurricular activities. After much deliberation, I have decided Central to be one of the top high schools I will consider in my application.
My purpose for entering the school counseling program is because of the passion I have for our future generation to grow into successful adults. My desire is to represent students by being their voice by providing resources for their academic, social, emotional, and career needs. Volunteering at the San Bernardino Probation Department for juveniles exposed me to a group of youth struggling to get back on track to school and trying to abstain from delinquency. The need to reach students before they left school or moved toward delinquency inspired me to be a school counselor. I came to understand the crucial job educators had to the students’ future.
A significant moment in my life is the day I had the good fortune of meeting with Temple University, Japan Campus representative, Nathan Crowne at Santa Monica College’s College Fair last year. I was immediately connected to Nathan and his enthusiastic introduction of TUJ. TUJ’s affordability is most remarkable to me because as a low-income student it will support my financial situation and allow for me to pursue my goals to travel the world, become multilingual and become an attorney. Ever since I met with Nathan, TUJ has become my number one choice for transfer. I am writing in hopes that you will favorably consider my application.
There is no other part of your application that you can control as much as your law school personal statement. Phenomenal personal statement writing will isolate you from the ocean of hopefuls with comparative scholarly capabilities. Practically equivalent to a meeting, law school personal statement writing ought to present the qualities and achievements that make you a person. Try not to compose a rundown of your resume or transcript, yet rather use this chance to develop what is remarkable about you, your backgrounds, and your objectives
When I imagine myself going to college I envision myself being captivated by learning and being devoted to my studies. I would collaborate with others to discuss social issues in our society and take the needed actions to make others more aware. New York University embodies all the aspects that I look for in a college. Attending New York University would allow me to achieve higher education as an English major. I would like to attend New York University for its excellent English curriculum and the social opportunities that it would provide me.
This graduate program offered at NYU is right for me right now in my life because
I have been a student at California State University Channel Islands (CI) for 5 semesters, and over the course of my stay I have grown and learned more that I thought possible. I came to this school from Moorpark Community College already knowing that I wanted to be an English teacher; I had taken numerous English courses and though I knew exactly what I was headed for-was I ever wrong. Going through the English program has taught me so much more than stuff about literature and language, it has taught me how to be me. I have learned here how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to find the answers to the things that I don't know. Most importantly I have learned how important literature and language are.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I am writing this letter because I look forward to attending the school, however there are some circumstances that may prevent me from doing so. I have a younger brother who is also interested in attending college, and many family members coming from India who we will have to support and provide for. We would also have to assist them in paying for their higher education. My parents will have to pay for several family members' college tuitions, and they will not be able to afford to pay for the full amount I am being asked for.
Born to farm life in upstate New York. Moved to rural Connecticut for my father to begin his career. Moved again to suburban central Massachusetts for more career changes. Next shifted a couple dozen miles north, then forty miles east, and then back again to central Massachusetts. I moved six times before college, but these were all mundane moves from the rural to the suburban and back. In this time, I learned to play trombone. I learned to rap. I learned to mix butter, eggs, flour, and sugar together in the correct proportions to craft a cake. I would be remiss if I neglected to mention my unusually strong interest in Herman Melville, whose works I have read in their entirety. But most vital to my life’s path, I learned that I love creative writing. Creative writing is the passion that has given me clarity and direction. A Fulbright grant allows me to turn my passion into a degree, in a new setting, to boot.
"Counseling" didn’t exist in my childhood. Mental wellness is hardly a primary concern in Chinese society. People usually ignore its influence, school curricula avoid it, and most Chinese are ashamed to confess their psychological issues. When individuals are unwell they struggle with how to cope and where to seek advice. I was one of these despondent in China. When I fell ill in my teens, it was like being errant in a dark tunnel with no torch to enlighten and guide me out.
