When you start to second look the things you first viewed as ugly and out of your life's story context, you start to see new things. To see using the eyes of faith breeds new perspectives. Then from asking “Why...?” You start to utter... “Ahah, that is why!” So, don’t give up! Cheer up! And help someone to once again, get
Throughout the essay “New Perspective” by: Janice E. Fein, she explores in immense detail how she suffered as a child who grew up with a mother that was very ill. She explains the hardships she underwent and expressed how she felt “cheated in life”. As a small child she could only remember her mother walking her to kindergarten once, as she describes in the essay, but after that she could only remember her mother laying in a “massive” and “ugly” hospital bed. As a child, its difficult sometimes to understand and grasp complicated situations like this. Most of the time children only hold one perspective of things, their own. Fein discusses the impact her mother’s illness had on her childhood and how it taught her later on in life when she became
However, as we continue to grow in the faith, we must look beyond the obvious to understand
As the golden sun cast the last of its rays on the upon the the Nebraskan lake, the two eldest Omaha princesses sat together. Aiyana, meaning “ever-blossoming”, and Aponi, meaning “butterfly”, belonged to Gaehage, the chief, and Donoma, meaning “sight of the sun”.
Every year I anticipate our vacation to visit the Quartapella’s beach house. Bouncing in my seat, we ride the ferry taking us out to Bald Head Island. Michael and Nicholas’ faces show as we approach the shore. Their arms wave wildly, their hands flapping in the air. Every year, since we moved from Charlotte to DC, we visit them. My sister Anna is two years older than me and went to play group with Mike and Nick., For me it’s a little tough fitting in with the older kids. For me to truly participate in the games, I have to push a little harder to be accepted. Most years we do the same activities, the games only differ a little as we get older. Over time, Michael has been teaching me to surf, we also go
Livingston's documentary Paris is Burning inspired an awareness of being that I had not previously experienced. The film urges the spectator to reevaluate not only one's breadth of knowledge of the black gay culture in the 80's, but also the perspectives from which one views the film. Personally speaking, the easiest evaluation of the latter topic would be the perspective of a privileged white straight female born into a sheltered and socially traditional household. This background would thus color my reaction to the film: one of intense sadness for the featured interviewees who yearned for an existence which was mostly unobtainable except in the case of extreme sacrifice and typically led to social ostracizing
The world today faces many problems in the world. Like for example, there is poverty, disease, and violence around the globe. There are many individuals and communities who are trying to help stop this. There is also the government who will sometimes try to help out too. But many people have perspectives in this matter on who can actually help out with what’s going on in the world. There are people who believe that the governments are the only one that will help out out the suffering people in the world and there are people who believe that governments are too selfish and that individuals and organizations are the only ones that will help change the world. There are people who even believe that both of them can work together. All three perspectives can be evaluated and seen on how much they can help the people around the world.
Ultimately, if we see faith as a “relationship with” what we believe, we can begin to unpack and deepen our understandings of ourselves and others, and the ways in which we are called to move in the world, and shape our surroundings.
growing in the eyes of faith will see problems around us in the world, and the greatest issue with the world is struggling with become within our eyes the greatest opportunity to demonstrate the resurrection of the power of Christ, it’s all set under his lordship.
“Perspective gives us the ability to accurately contrast the large with the small, and the important with the less important. Without it we are lost in a world where all ideas, news, and information look the same. We cannot differentiate, we cannot prioritize, and we cannot make good choices.” - John Sununu. Perspective is a big part of what we all share with each other, and it’s more than intricate than particles and atoms, our minds. Our minds are made p of our recollections, emotional states, thoughts and our despairs. This will become our lively hood, as we live beneath our own persona. Our altering persona, constantly changing, who will we be in a week, a month or even years from now? Most people can’t answer these questions with a firm response. Sarah couldn’t and neither could Brent, two misguided teens in high school, until they gained a wider outlook on life.
Change. It is a concept often discussed as being an inevitable part of human life, something people has experienced numerous of times, and will continue to experience throughout their lives. Change comes in many forms and has a range of effects, which are either negative or positive on those who experience it and respond to it. Change, particularly in relation to the topic ¡°Changing perspective creates awakening¡±, is a view that is repeatedly explored and been written in poem/film by thousands of composers.
From a young age, society teaches people to always tell the truth, as lies can bring themselves, or other people harm. However, experience teaches people that telling lies is a lot easier than telling the truth, especially when those lies seem to be insignificant. The short stories, “Like the Sun” and “The Open Window” exemplify situations in which the truth is detrimental to others’ feelings, and a situation in which lying is damaging to one’s life. Although both telling the truth and telling lies can be harmful to one’s life or feelings to a certain degree, lying causes more damage than telling the truth. Sekhar from, “Like the Sun” and Vera from, “The Open Window” both prompt somewhat of a negative impact on other
While the rest of the team had fallen asleep, I still laid awake lost in thought. We have already been on this plane for nineteen hours and thirty minutes. Which means we only have 20 minutes left on this horrible flight. I started to consider if we should've chosen a different airline, but then I realized I only dislike the 20 hours on this plane. I probably would've enjoyed this plane more if it wasn’t 20 hours. I don’t really know why, because I do enjoy the peacefulness I find on all planes.
When going through a difficult time and struggles it is shown that we judge our faith.
Throughout our lives, from birth to death, we will be inspired by people, places, stories, values and religion which will create opportunities for success and personal satisfaction. Poet James T. Adair wrote in his poem Faith Breeds Hope:” Faith breeds hope, hope breeds dreams, follow those dreams, act upon them and you will likely find your happiness” (Adair). One’s belief and faith in God and his Kingdom opens up one’s mind to think well beyond walls and borders to promise and opportunity and most importantly, hope and peace in our lives and our future.
Through the lens of conformity, one blinded by worldly desires, it is incredible how much we cannot see, and surprising how much we can see. But when we open our hearts and put on a lens of faith we can slowly begin to see what has been in front of us all along. For me, this was a world full of light, peace, and pure joy.
