You should take a stand against losing Net Neutrality, you should learn for yourself from an unbiased source about Net Neutrality, and you should and can contact the FCC and cause a change, it’s been done before. I personally hate jumping on the bandwagon of ‘This is the big thing we must take a stand against’ only to later find out that wasn’t quite the case and people were getting too enthusiastic and accomplished nothing. This is not one of those cases.
Despite generating a huge public outcry in 2014/15 and protecting Net Neutrality for the time being, it has somehow again become an option considered in 2017. I’d recommend watching these two videos below before continuing, and reading the materials and additional videos below afterwards.

Utilities are not things that we agree upon are required for human life, they are necessities needed to live as a citizen of the United States. Phone calls and electricity are not required to exist as a human, but they are requirements to effectively live as an American, and are thus utilities. The Internet is also something that you need to properly live and interact in the United States, to the same level as electricity and telephone lines are, and should be considered and protected as a utility.
Erasing net neutrality would stifle innovation, and allows large ISPs to piggyback off of the prosperity that a previously neutral Internet had. If these rules were in place before Alphabet or Facebook or Netflix or Amazon existed, it is hard to believe those companies would have been able to secure the funds to get through the paywall to consumers, which demonstrates that these attempts to destroy Net Neutrality are little more than an excuse to ask successful companies to pay more and disregard the ramifications to any possible future companies or the history that made certain companies
In the IEEE CTN issue of June 2014, It was noted that “evolution and technological innovation in communication systems, digital media, and user behavior may challenge Net Neutrality principles and question if or how Net Neutrality can be sustained in a new word of data-hungry applications such as on-demand video, online gaming, and music streaming” (IEEE, 2014). In the same CTN issue, specific Net Neutrality principles included, among others, no connection blocking, bandwidth transparency, universal connectivity, and best effort
1. How would you describe Boeing’s approach to project management? What are its strengths and weaknesses?
Many people don’t know or care about net neutrality, but the reality is that it’s actually a big deal than you think. net neutrality first became a thing in the 1990s, but became noticeable in the 2003. The reason why net neutrality became something is because there were inequality connection speed between the provider and the consumer. Now in 2018, net neutrality will officially end in April, 23, 2018 if there are not enough votes. The definition of net neutrality is when a consumer can go through any website without facing any restriction from the provider.
Without net neutrality, companies can charge the customer for how much data they use rather than a flat price. Most every other business practice is like this. If someone goes to get fast food and only wants a sandwich but has no other choice but to get the full meal, that is the same concept. This is very appealing to lots of people who may not use as much data as most internet users and feel that they are paying too much. Internet Service Providers are very against net neutrality because it costs them more money.
Attention Getter: When you go online you have certain expectations. You expect to be connected to whatever website you want. You expect that your cable or phone company isn’t messing with the data and is connecting you to all websites, applications and content you choose. You expect to be in control of your internet experience. When you use the internet you expect Net Neutrality.
I Love Lucy Through Socialist Feminist Lens Today we will talk about the episode "Job Switching" the 1st episode of season 2. Lucy and Ethel, in their never-ending quest to prove their worth beyond the confines of domesticity, decide to swap roles with their husbands. Ricky and Fred take over the household duties while Lucy and Ethel go out to work in a candy factory. This episode may be a beloved sitcom staple, but underneath the laughs lies a glaring critique of gender roles, social norms, and the unequal division of labor.
Federal Communications Commission, otherwise known as the FCC, voted two-to-one in May of 2017, to begin the tearing down of the net neutrality law (Rushe), that which protected individuals from companies that purposefully slowed down service lanes so as to regulate what was being broadcasted across computers. Chief internet official Ajit Pai at the FCC stated that he believed that the dismantling of the net neutrality laws could pave the way for a more competitive marketplace, that which would “lift ‘heavy-handed’ internet regulations that overly restricted internet providers” (White). The repealing of net neutrality seems to mainly garner approval from big companies, such as Verizon, and more recently, Comcast, companies that would do well by the repealing of such a law. With net neutrality gone companies such as those listed above would be able to, legally, regulate and control what people saw on the internet by slowing down or speeding up lanes depending on the affiliation the company has with that specific website (Finley). However, even with Title II in effect, some companies have found a way to circumvent those rules in order to ‘play favorites’ as it were. For instance, when AT&T customers access the Direct TV’s streaming service they may find that the data extrapolated from the service used did not count towards their current data limit’s (Finley). It is also believed that with no regulations in place regarding net neutrality, companies have the potential of becoming dictators and blocking
Network Neutrality is a controversial topic that speaks about free, and open internet. Net Neutrality enables access and transparency of internet offerings and free access to services to applications, and content. Some I.S.P. companies and internet sites want to gain profit for the information they release. However, the other side of the issue focuses on title one and two of the communications act of 1994, this prohibits I.S.P. companies from showing certain websites and not at an equal speed, while having to pay for the access to information(Net Neutrality). This whole issue started in 1996, when The Telecommunications Act of 1996 inverted the original Telecommunications Act, this new act allowed for anyone to enter the communications business
The internet is an immense part of everyone’s lives, whether it’s used for work, school, or entertainment and it’s at risk. The federal communications commission (FCC) is planning to end net neutrality, which is a big deal. Net neutrality or open internet is the principle of having free, equal access to the internet, without having to pay or have internet service providers blocking and slowing down websites. For many years, people have been fighting to keep the internet free, and big companies and the FCC have been fighting back. Fighting to keep net neutrality has never been more important than now because the vote to end net neutrality is on December. 14. Fighting to keep net neutrality is important because it allows free access to information, free speech and thought, and it helps businesses.
Why fix a system that isn't broken? We always have been free to browse anything on the internet(no extra packages to pay to view extra things), so why it change now? It only will benefit large companies and the majority of people are middle class, so there'll be a major difference of opinions. Ultimately, more than half of the nation would like to keep net neutrality in play.
Throughout the last decade, the idea of Net Neutrality has been the topic of many debates. Net Neutrality is the idea that Internet service providers should not be allowed to block their users from any content regardless of its source. The Debate is still continuing in 2017 with the F.C.C planning to repeal Net Neutrality and allow internet providers to completely regulate what their users can see and charge the users extra for “luxuries” such as social media, messaging, email, and music. There are two sides of this argument, one side believes that Net Neutrality should be taken away, while others believe that it is unfair for the Internet providers to have the right to take away the access to any content. Internet providers should not be allowed to control what content one can view when surfing the internet.
With an internet that does not practice net neutrality, the internet service providers can swindle other’s websites by throttling people’s connection to them unless they pay a premium price. People are more likely to go to the website that takes one second to load, not twenty. This problem would be incredibly relevant for streaming websites such as YouTube and Netflix. Nobody wants to wait what seems like an hour for a single
Net Neutrality is essential to our everyday lives, and it is perilously close to being repealed on December 14th by the FCC; but if more people take a stand in support of Net Neutrality, we can preserve the free internet. Net Neutrality needs to be saved because it protects free speech, free trade of information and services, and the privacy of our data. This is an issue that concerns all citizens regardless of political affiliation, but lawmakers have made it a fight between the two parties. Most people did not care about Net Neutrality or even know what it is until fairly recently, but recent events regarding it's likely repeal have turned the public’s attention towards it.
The emergence of the Internet and the World Wide Web brought upon a medium of communication with a range of opportunities for the world. However, this medium is, in due course, subject to the control of a few major companies. The enigma of information flow is the central concern of net neutrality. Consumers, competition and network owners would benefit directly from the regulation of network neutrality because it would provide a positive impact to those parties as well as provide equality.
The concept of network neutrality (more commonly referred to as net neutrality) has been a fixture of debates over United States telecommunications policy throughout the first decade of the twenty-first century. Based upon the principle that internet access should not be altered or restricted by the Internet Service Provider (ISP) one chooses to use, it has come to represent the hopes of those who believe that the internet still has the potential to radically transform the way in which we interact with both people and information, in the face of the commercial interests of ISPs, who argue that in order to sustain a competitive marketplace for internet provision, they must be allowed to differentiate their services. Whilst this debate has
