Nese,
Thank you for sharing the information. I would like also to share the information about the relationship between dying hair and cancer. Hair dyes are very popular among teenage and adults in order to maintain beauty or cover the gray hair. However, most people did not know the hair dyes may increase the incidence of cancer. According to National Cancer Institue(NIH) (2016), companies use over 5000 different chemicals in hair dye products and some of the chemicals are reported as carcinogens in animals. In NIH report (2016), the evidence indicates the hair dyes increase the risk of leukemia and bladder cancer.
Nowadays, most products are made with chemical composition, such as soft drink and canned food. When these non-natural foods
In the essay “What's Natural about Our Natural Products?”, Sarah Federman claims that although many people believe that the word natural on a food label means that a product is healthier than others, natural doesn't actually mean anything, because is an unregulated word. The author describes how marketers use the word “natural” to bait people in to buying a certain product thinking that is better than another “unnatural” product. She says that the word is most prevalent at the grocery store, and gives examples of different products with the word “natural” on their label. Federman explains the difference between the products that don't have “natural” on the label and the ones that do. She states that, often, the “natural” food products are more
Spam is a brand name for a canned meat product containing ham, pork, salt, flavourings, and preservatives that are mixed and cooked under vacuum pressure. The product was made in 1937 and it became popular around WWII where it was recognized by the United States and Russian soldiers. After the war, the product became popular and well known around the world. Over the years consumers wondered about the product, and if it was healthy because of the simple ingredients. This issue made a big difference on the popularly of the product. In today’s society, canned food has become a big issue whether it is healthy or not because of the chemicals and preparation. There are many reasons why Spam is not healthy, and some main reasons are the
One of the detrimental consequences of chemotherapy’s treatment is losing hair. It is the most common effect that caused by cancer treatment. Unfortunately, chemotherapy’s work is to kill cancer cells, but it also destroys healthy cells that helps the hair to grow in the human’s body. When the patient starts the treatment, hair roots will become dryer and thinner. As a negative result, it will start falling seven to ten days when the treatment begins, and after two months, hair loss occurs completely (“Cancer Net”, n.d.). Sometimes therapies cause hair loss only in the head, but it often appears in all the body organs such as, eyebrows, eyelashes, underarms and legs. There are thousands of different flavor additives, but they are all split into two different categories known as natural flavors and artificial flavors. Natural and artificial flavor are both used to add flavor, color, and texture for food. According to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), natural ingredients are derived from natural sources. The ingredients of natural flavoring such as beet powder, lecithin, garlic powder, black pepper, spices, or vitamin C; all of which have been extracted from plants (Shereen Jegtvig). On the other hand, artificial ingredients are created in laboratories, such as food colorings and artificial sweeteners. The FDA defines, a flavoring adjuvant is a substance added to impart or help impart a taste or aroma in food, and flavor enhancers are substances added to supplement, enhance, or modify the
Food additives are eatable chemicals which make food appetizing and keep it fresh. The final goal to utilize these chemicals is to save production cost. For instance, strawberry gummies people eat are usually flavored with food additives to mimic “strawberrish” smell, taste, and color. Manufacturers paint gummies with red, orange, blue, and green dye because the cost of food dyes is incredibly cheaper than the cost of real fruit to flavor the same amount of gummies. Alternatively, orange juice is another typical example of food products with food additives. The amount of juice squeezed from one orange is really small. It cannot fill even a small cup. Therefore, juice
Consumers commonly perceive “natural” claims as “clean,” “pure,” and “healthy,” sometimes creating the false sense that a product has health benefits (National Consumers League 2012; Rozin et al. 2004). However, no scientific definitions or regulations of natural claims currently exist to reduce confusion and ambiguity for consumers. The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has not regulated natural claims and only briefly defined the term “natural” as not containing “added color, artificial flavors, or synthetic substances” (FDA 2016). The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) defined “natural” as “no artificial ingredients, coloring ingredients, or chemical preservatives” and “no more than minimally processed” (USDA 1999). However, this guideline only pertains to meat and poultry products, and the claims do not have to be certified. Consequently, many food companies make natural claims about their products, regardless of consumer conceptions of natural and regardless of the

One of the essential needs necessary for the survival of organisms is the need of nutrients. Nutrients are able to be consumed depending on the biological kingdom of the organisms. Plants receive the nutrients from the soil and the sun because of their ability to produce nutrients from sun light using their chlorophyll .However, Animals and specifically human beings gain nutrients in a different form. Nutrients are consumed using various substances that have the ability to provide nutrients for the body. The foods that human beings consume contain nutrients such as oils and protein. However as the modern age progressed, the foods that are consume are added with a variety of other products that perform many other actions such as alter flavor or preserve food that result in affecting the human body usually, in harmful manner. However, the addition of harmful products is one of the problems that Clear Labs Inc. attempt to solve.
“Foods containing natural flavors, sweeteners, and other plant-derived substances can be labeled natural… Foods containing High Fructose Corn Syrup and genetically engineered ingredients can also be labeled natural… Many other other synthetic materials can be used to process natural foods as long as they aren’t in the final product.” (Hansen)

In this paper, I will give my findings about non-organic and organic chicken production and also the production of non-organic and organic apples and if chemical fertilizers or pesticides are use in the production of these foods, and how they affect human nutrition, health, and the environment, and lastly some changes I would when buying foods the store after researching.
The use of food additives is an emotional topic which continues to provoke consumer concern. Despite modern-day associations food additives have been used for centuries. Food preservation began when man first learned to safeguard food from one harvest to the next and by the salting and smoking of meat and fish. The Egyptians used colors and flavorings, and the Romans used saltpeter (potassium nitrate), spices and colors for preservation and to improve the appearance of foods. Cooks regularly used baking powder as a raising agent, thickeners for sauces and gravies, and colors, such as cochineal, to transform good-quality raw materials into foods that were safe, wholesome and enjoyable to eat.
