Nelson Mandela became a very revered man after his fight for social struggle in Africa. Mandela was surrounded by leadership from an early age by family members and ancestors. From a young age, Nelson Mandela was interested in being a leader for his people and fighting the apartheid. As Mandela began his battle with the social struggle in South Africa, he started to experience the corruptness of the government and social hierarchy. Mandela's fight against the apartheid resulted in a 27 year imprisonment in the nations highest security prison. After the imprisonment, Nelson Mandela came out with plans for South Africa and led the country to a new era of social equality. Nelson Mandela's crucial leadership role in fighting apartheid and the social hierarchy of South Africa resulted in the complete reorganization of its political and social system. …show more content…

Mandela was born on July 18, 1918 to his mother, Noqaphi Nosekeni and father, Henry Mgadla Mandela. From a young age Mandela was taught to lead by example from his father "the principal councilor to the Acting Paramount Chief of the Thembu royal house" (Biography of Nelson Mandela). Nelson Mandela had numerous opportunities to learn from his father's leadership, and the leadership of the Thembu royal house. After many years of being councilor to the paramount chief, and example to his son Nelson, Henry Mgadla Mandela died in 1927. Upon his death, Nelson "became the ward of Jongintaba Dalindyebo, the paramount chief, to be groomed to be assumed high office" (Biography of Nelson Mandela).
