While he does not have a direct role in production, he still has an impact by reviewing each episode. Hillenburg wanted the film to be the finalization of the show to make sure, "[the show] wouldn't jump the shark." However, Nickelodeon demanded more episodes, so Hillenburg appointed Paul Tibbitt to take over as showrunner and develop further seasons. Tibbit had a high demanding position as he previously served as a writer, director, and storyboard artist for the series. He would now be the one instructing those positions, which he knew how to do already. Hillenburg trusted Tibbitt and even considered him as one of his favorite members of the crew. To this day, Tibbitt still holds the showrunner position. He has also functioned as both a supervising producer since 2005 and an executive producer since 2008. On December 13, 2014, it was announced that Hillenburg would come back to hold an unspecified position among the shows’ crew. Claire was a popular girl, Andrew was a wrestler (jock), Brian was intellectually gifted, Allison was a basket case, and John Bender was a rebel. Recent studies have shown that at Woodberry about 97% of shows have been directed by faculty members. Which often isn’t a bad thing at all, but what if a student were to take on this task? Well, the great thing about One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest is that we are going to see this opportunity happen before our very eyes. With Jared Thalwitz leading the way, we get to see firsthand how this Experiment will take shape.

To produce an episode, you first need a yeti who writes a screenplay, then draws a storyboard, then acts and records all character voices, then creates an animatic then designs all characters and props, then draws layouts for every scene, then draws and colours the backgrounds, then animates all scenes (25 frames per second), then corrects little mistakes, then cleans the animation, then colours the animation, then creates sound effects, writes and records music, adds visual special effects, composes everything, checks for mistakes again, fixes the mistakes, and exports the finished episode.
