They don't believe in each other or their religions. There religions were hatred that people are starting to kill each other because of their religious hatred of each other. They were not happy with each other and started to kill Christians or Muslims. It was bad for the crusade for them.Document 1 states that in sentence they were also left a bitter legacy of religious hatred behind them. …show more content…
Then they started to kill people because their hatred.Document 4 states that the negative impact on the Christians were that the buildings were burn. The library, churches, and more. The crusaders and the Venetians is the ones who destroyed thing on the christian land and they don’t know what to do with the crusaders and the Venetians who destroyed the land of the Christians. This is (important/interesting/relevant) because they were going to destroyed they building and tried to stop it.They were angry at the Venetians because they destroyed the buildings. The christians were mad at the things they did. They did there best at stopping the persons that destroyed their
In the DBQ historical context, it states that “Between the end of the eleventh century and into the thirteenth century, European Christians, at the urging of the church, conducted a series of nine wars that have come to be known as the Crusades. Many people have wondered were the results of the Crusades more positive or negative? The results of the Crusades were more negative because they would massacre communities and empires, and they had very low patience.
_Besides the economic footprint of the Crusades, the whole thing was horrible, they killed innocent people, lies were told to make men risk their lives, and there was a huge feud between 2 religions that is still partially alive today, a feud that cost thousands of lives and starts bias politically, emotionally, and especially
First of all, the Crusades caused trade to expand, helping get the trading system we have today. In Document Eight, it said that after the Crusades, Europeans liked the goods that they got from it, so they were willing to trade what they had for these products. This is important because it caused the goods from the Crusades to travel across the world, therefore expanding trade. Also, in Document Two it says that in the English language, we have adopted some words from Arabic that they used in the Crusades. This is relevant because it shows that we got goods from the Crusades that we wouldn’t have if not for the Crusades. The Crusades helped us get the trading system we have
Besides having the Crusades being negative based on dying and losing their main objective, another example as to why the Crusades ended so negatively, is that many lands were demolished and robbed. In addition, in document 4 it indicates “ … the crusaders and the Venetians stormed Constantinople,, sacked the city, destroying its magnificent library, and grabbed thousands of relics that were later sold in Europe. From destruction, the Byzantine Empire as a political unit never recovered.” This is pertinent because it is clearly stated that they had destroyed buildings and when things are destroyed it’s rarely a good thing. Another thing that shows negativity is that after the Byzantine Empire was sacked, it never repaired. When something is damaged, it’s really bad for the people who have a relation to it. So when they had destroyed the Byzantine Empire, it must’ve hurt many people to see their city ruined. Furthermore in document B is states “Jerusalem was taken from the north on the morning of July 15, 1099. The population was put to the sword by the Franks, who pillaged the area for a week.
In the Middle Ages there were three cultures, one gained, one suffered, and one started the Crusades because of greed, fear and intolerance.
Document 5 states that, In addition to the feudal states that the crusaders set up along the Syrian and Palestinian coasts, which managed to survive for about two centuries before the Muslims reconquered them, the crusaders left in the Middle East two legacies that continue to resonate. First, the long struggle between Islam and Christendom and the example of persecution set by Christian kings and prelates (bishops) left an inheritance of deep bitterness; relations between Muslims and their Christians and Jews subjects worsened. This is interesting because wars are really serious
In another worksheet, students are asked to identify a “negative effect of the Crusades that has continued to the present.” The answer, which is written on the worksheet, is Christians’ harsh treatment of Muslims which still goes on until the present.
These Crusades were happening more on the east the thing was that they were trying to capture Jerusalem which happen on 1099, but Saladin recaptured it during 1187. This affected the West civilization for their so purpose to was to take back Jerusalem and even though they failed in the third Crusade they were not giving up, and were ready to strike back again against Islam. This is when the fourth Crusade occurred from1202 to 1204 and only lasted two years, and it affected Nicetas Choniates because he saw it happen right in front of him when they were invading the Byzantine Empire. He was a historian during that time and saw what happen to the empire which was conquered, and the target in the attack was on Jerusalem, but they saw the weakness of Byzantine Empire and attacked Constantinople. They attacked the area on April, 12 1204, and captured it within a day. It was the start of the Latin Empire of Constantinople which lasted from 1204 to 1264 which crusaders settled a state, and were supposed to replace the empire and be the successor of the Roman Empire, but the Byzantine Empire recaptured it. But the Byzantine Empire was never the same when they were first in power. During the attack the “pervious day, after bloody and bitter fighting, the crusaders had managed to penetrate the walls of the city.” The people of the Byzantine Empire could not sleep they did not know what to do because the
The crusades are often referred to as a blemish on Christianity’s record, as an unprecedented and unrepeated bloodshed in the name of their god. These violent campaigns were done with the intent to recapture the Holy Land of Jerusalem. Those whom the crusaders deemed to be the enemy were cut down, without
In 1095, Pope Urban II called for an army to go to the Holy Land, Jerusalem. This was what was later known as the ‘First Crusade’. A crusade is a religious war or a war mainly motivated by religion. The first crusade consisted of 10’s of thousands of European Christians on a medieval military expedition to recover the Holy Land from the Muslims. This doesn’t mean that the first crusade was just motivated by religion. Throughout this essay, I will be suggesting the main reasons of why people went on crusades and which different people went for specific reasons and why.
What where the major group that effect? The major group effect of the crusade is Jews, Christian, Muslim. Where do the crusader take over? When? The Crusader come the Jews served them and they take over Jerusalem in 1099. But some times they turn the Jews to Christian and get back their holy land. How does it effect to the population? The Jews populations suffering. And they also lost money and land because the Christian take them a way.
The Effect on Christianity is either bad and good. The crusade brought many economic change to Europe. They make monarch grew more powerful and weakened feudalism. It weakened feudalism because it reduce the economic power in the church and increase the power of middle and lower classes. Peasant get more money because they get required more on their products
The Crusades were a set of wars between the Catholic Church and Muslims. These wars lasted from 1096 A.D. to 1291. The Crusades are known as “successful failures” because two of the nine crusades were successful, the First and Third.
There were several effects of the Crusades on the European continent. To summary, the European continent was mainly affect by the in ideology in religion and king’s power. From the Crusader’s point of view, Islam and Judaism should be replaces by Christianity totally even with the help of violence. In this way, the Crusaders began their persecution against the Jews throughout the European continent. When Jerusalem was finally caught, the Muslim and Jewish people were killed in bulk.
Going against modern day religious beliefs, in 1095AD the Christians went to war to claim the holy city of Jerusalem, massacring the Muslims in a bloody attempt to worship their God. Pope Urban II’s speech at Clermont inspired by claims made by the Byzantium Emperor encouraged the Christians to partake in the First Crusade in an attempt to liberate Jerusalem. The religious and economic factors were the most relevant to cause this crusade, with some influence from desired political gain and little from social factors unrelated to religion. The immediate consequences were positive for the Christians and negative for the Muslims, but the First Crusade launched an ongoing conflict between the Christians and Muslims which had positive and negative consequences for both sides. There are a number of relevant modern sources which examine the causes and consequences of the First Crusade, but, while there are many medieval sources, they do not explicitly discuss the causes and consequences of the war. In order to fully comprehend the First Crusade, it is necessary to analyse the religious, economic, and political factors, as well as the short-term, long-term, and modern consequences.
