Throughout human history there have been many wars that caused chaos for the people that lived around the battlefields. Loved ones can die, property can be destroyed, and all order can be lost. In the past few years, war in the Middle East has caused a massive amount of refugees to seek a place to live in Europe. The effect that the migrants have had on European countries (mostly syrian refugees) is negative because of their impact on the daily lives of the locals, the countless amount of funds that countries have spent to try to integrate them into society, and the increased risk of terrorism in countries that harbor a large amount of migrants.
The Middle-Eastern migrants have negatively affected the daily lives of Europeans. They should not be integrated into European society because they are just shoved in the cities carelessly creating lawless areas. In Berlin, Germany there are more than 40 “no-go zones” which are areas that are mainly inhabited by the migrants (O’Brien). A lot of times when emergency services and personnel enter the area to help the people living there, they are attacked by the migrants. “German locals fear foreigners because they do not think like Europeans” (Welle). The migrants have a negative effect because if emergency personnel and civilians can’t even go around parts of the city comfortably without thinking they could get assaulted or have their property destroyed while the migrants receive no repercussions, then those parts of the city are
Nicole Gelinas voices her opinion on how Europe should focus their immigration policies towards those who are in war zones and not those who leave on their own accord. I disagree. This policy should be focused on those who are making this dangerous trek and risking their lives to do so. Many of these people aren’t near a war zone but still face the same dangers as if they were. These refugees make this dangerous trek either by choice or force. Forced refugees leave because of the harsh laws, like Sharia, in their home countries that bind them to strict codes that are cruel.
In the final draft I will expand on each of the issues, by looking into more specific examples of both what different European countries are doing policy wise, as well as what the sentiment is among the refugees in the different areas of Europe. To fully be able to understand the conditions the refugees are facing I will be using other scholars ethnography work; One of those works being Katerina Rozakou’s piece regarding the management of refugees in Greece. As a result of that knowledge I will be able to come to an accurate conclusion as to what course of action should be taken in Europe as a whole, to deal with this ongoing
Trump is going to lose and he is going to lose badly. Many Republicans are of the belief that the polls are wrong, that the race is much closer than we think. The truth is Donald J. Trump will not be President; he will not even get close. From the second he accepted the nomination this was a foregone conclusion. Trump has failed to establish the necessary infrastructure in key swing states and has done everything in his power to alienate independents and conservative Republicans like me.
Millions of people are influential in a million different ways. For example, helping people choose the right path in life, or discovering something new. Specifically, Dolly Parton is influential in the way of giving. Dolly Parton is influential because of her accomplishments, her belief in the rights of others, and her remarkable acts of charity. Dolly Parton is influential because of her accomplishments.
Refugees are people who crossed borders, fleeing due to problems related to race religion and nationality. While fleeing, refugees unknowingly carry many diseases due to lack of mental help and attention. When coming to a new country, refugees have no self-esteem to get jobs due to the language barrier. Refugees who flee their country and sacrifice everything are confident and strong willed with all the obstacles that come through their journey to start a new life. The long-term effects that a refugee experiences due to forced migration is Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression. Forced migration has a negative mental and physical affect on refugees.
I am interested in becoming a Community Assistant for the 2016-2017 academic year. I heard about this opportunity by being encouraged by others to apply, and from within the Kenna community itself.
The European migrant crisis began in 2015 when there was an influx of refugees coming into the European Union through southern European countries and by way of the Mediterranean Sea. An extremely large portion of these refugees came from Syria and Iraq. One of the leading causes of the mass migration was war and unrest and the consequent rise of insurgency groups such as ISIS within these people’s home countries. As their homes and cities have become unfit to live in any longer, people have been driven to seek asylum in European countries. Greece and other southern European countries like
The Immigration crisis in Europe captured the world attention. Last year there was almost one million refugee flow to Europe. The increase of political crises in the whole world has made from immigration is the only way to survive from death or an unpredictable future. Therefore the emigrants from all over the world seek to asylum in European counters because they assume it's well the gate of their dreams to have a stable future for them and for their children. Consequently, with increasing of the political crisis in the world has made from immigration is the only solution to escape from political, demographic, religious conflicts unsolved problems as in Iraq and Afghanistan. The citizens in Arab communities were the victims
Thousands and thousands of migrants have begun to flood into the European countries. With immigration numbers higher than ever, these countries have begun to search for solutions. Some countries have considered closing their borders , many are beginning to show violence to keep people out. As always, there is a much better solution other than using violence. The Europe Migration Policy needs to be adjusted to current needs and these countries need to work together to create better opportunities for the immigrants and refugees seeking safety.
The refugee crisis is a hotly debated and controversial topic all over the globe relevant to today. The rising number of refugees arriving in the European Union has significantly increased throughout the past few years. The controversy comes from not the refugees themselves, but from where they are emigrating from. Coming from extremely hostile and dangerous countries operated by the Islamic State militants, there is a sense of hysteria from the opposing side saying that there are risks that need to be factored in when accepting such a large amount of people from places where there are high concentrations of terrorism into their home countries. On the other side of the argument, the advocates for refugees are proclaiming that as humans we have moral obligations to give the quintessential helping hand to humans whenever one is in need, regardless of their situation or circumstances. Through social activism these proponents are seeking to
With all the conflict in the Middle East that is currently making the front page, we tend to forget about the people who used to live there and have been forced to flee the area. Thousands upon thousands of migrants are fleeing every day from conflicts in the Middle East and Africa to Europe in search of a better life. Many of them, trying to settle as far north as possible, live in temporary migrant camps until they can travel further north to claim asylum in their prefered country.
The European refugee crisis began in 2015, when a rising number of refugees and migrants made the journey to the European Union (EU) to seek asylum. Refugees are people who have been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. According to the data that was shown in Business Standard and also confirmed by BBC News, the top ten nations which account for 90% of the sea arrivals in 2015 were: Syria (49%), Afghanistan (21%), Iraq (8%), Eritrea (4%), Pakistan, Nigeria and Somalia (2 %), Sudan, Gambia and Mali (1%). Also the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees confirms that the top three nationalities of refugees are Syrian, Afghan and Iraqi. Of the refugees and migrants arriving in Europe by sea in 2015, 58% were men, 17% women and 25% children. (Wright, 2015). According to Eurostat, EU member states received over 1.2 million first time asylum applications in 2015, 4 countries (Germany, Hungary, Sweden, and Austria) received around two-thirds, while Latvia received a very small part of them.
Refugees have been an issue for the international community as they have fled to many countries around the world, such as Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan (Almontaser & Baumann, 2017). The definition of refugees is people who are forced to leave their home country because of war race, religion, nationality political or persecution (Beumar, 2009). In particular, after the civil war in Syria the number of refugees is rising rapidly; more than 4.8 million Syrians fled to abroad since 2011 (UNHCR, 2016 cited in Almontaser & Baumann, 2017). For host nations, the influx of refugees has caused some negative effect on security and economy. Some people claim that refugees are not a major reason of security problems and refugees can bring labour forces to the host nation and increase government tax revenue. Although many people argue that refugees have several benefits to host nations, refugees continue to have negative effects on host nations including the increase of security problems and government spending.
Refugee issue is a global issue mainly due to wars, conflicts or environmental, political, religious and racial reasons (Gibney & Gil, 2010). In recent years, the turmoil triggered by the "Arab Spring" in many countries in West Asia and North Africa causing numerous refugees, so it has once again attracted the attention of people(Grossman, 2017). People forced to relocate their homes and even renounce their nationality by war or natural disasters are defined as refugee(UNHCR,2017).The influx of refugees brings cheap labor forces reducing the cost of productions ,and causes the promotion of economic development. In addition, the increasing population leads to an increase in demand which can increase the income of the host countries and the state tax. It can be argued that refugees are unable to benefit the host nations because refugees increase unemployment rate and occupy resources in education. Although it may be true that there are some negative effects caused by refugees, refugees can benefit the host nation in terms of economy and social advancement.
Europe today struggles with immigration and making decisions on immigration policies and acceptance. Each country has different opinions on immigration because of varying beliefs and cultures. In the Netherlands, people flee from different parts of the world to gain refuge and safety from war, famine, scarcity, and fear. These people are making the decision to leave their home, and sometimes their families, because they want to be safe and find a better life for themselves. Unfortunately, some of these European countries don’t believe they deserve to be a part of their society. The people are resisting immigrants because they believe that there won’t be enough jobs, enough space, and the immigrants won’t conform to the new country’s culture. However, there are some countries who take in immigrants and provide them with a safe place to live. Most of these people fleeing their country are the same age as you and I, seeking a future in a place away from their family, friends, and home. To deny these people a safe space almost ensures their death either in their homeland or during their struggle to get away.
