Nature and Nurture Discussion
Nature verses nurture is an age old subject debated by psychologist. As of today, there does not appear to be clear cut evidence that nature or nurture alone is the predominated factor in how a person develops or behaves. It is believed among researchers that “nature and nurture work together”. According to David Myers (2014), “Research reveals that nature and nurture together shape our development—every step of the way” (p. 130). Mr. Myers uses the example of identical twins that had been separated from one another for thirty-eight years and after being tested sill exhibited remarkable similarities.
The Bible tells me that “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23 KJV). Mankind in
Nature or Nurture. Nature may be all of the genes and hereditary factors with which influence them to become who they are such as physical appearances and personality characteristics. Nurturing impacts people’s lives as well as how they are raised and all the environmental factors. In combination, these qualities can be the true identity of oneself. Many people may argue that nurture appears to a play huge factor in the two, but others may think otherwise. Not having both as a characteristic can have a negative effect on a person physically and mentally. The debate of nature versus nurture appears to be the oldest argument known to man, and it still remains to be unanswered. In the old-age argument nature versus nurture, nature may play a huge role in determining a person’s true identity.

Specially I will show that people can actually create a positive reaction by breaking the law. I will explain that Socrates argument and show how depends on how what the unjust causes. Then I will argue that this assumption is to be questioned under the fact that citizens are not necessarily affected by the law breakers, and that by doing something unjust can be moral.
America: Land of the free and home of the brave. That was the idea that the people had hundreds of years ago. How they would feel now that we are a country that is enslaved to profit and not the least bit brave when it comes to speaking truth. Mark Shield, author of the article “Missing: Any Challenge for the Common Good,” brings to the attention of how todays tactic of running things has become more than a little undermining. The presidential campaign of 2016 has been no more than a bumbling mess for the past few months. Republican front-runner and celebrity, Donald Trump, has led his campaign with racist remarks and the promise of a wall he will not pay for, to separate borders. While the popular vote of the Democratic Party,
The long-lived “Nature vs. Nurture” debate within the field of psychology is concerned with the extent to which behaviour of any human being is a result of inherited or learned characteristics. The “Nature” of the debate focuses on how genetic factors affect the personality, thought process, and other characteristics of any given person. On the other hand, the “Nurture” side of this debate believes that early childhood experiences, how one is raised, social relations, and surrounding culture affect their psychological development and the actions they take later on in life. Throughout the history of psychology, however, this debate has continued to stir up controversy. For example; is the academic success of a child a result of genetics and

Why do people act a certain way? Some people are aggressive and others aren’t. Nature and nurture play a role in this. Is it because of the genes passed down from their parents or is it because of the environment where they live in? The reason I picked this topic is because in some areas of my life and other people’s lives, environmental aspects plays a role which affects their behavior and actions, but genes play a role too. I am curious about the topic and why scientists have not found an answer to whether it is nature or nurture. How can a topic have evidence explaining why it is both environmentally and genes. Why isn’t there one answer? Do the aspects intelligence, aggressive behaviors and Mental disorders contribute to the environment where people live in and their genes pasted down?
How is the nature vs nurture debate related to a consideration of the mental disorder, schizophrenia?
Nature vs Nurture is something that has been researched for many years especially when it comes to finding the reason for someone committing a crime. When talking about nature, I am talking about how you are born. The genes that you are born with that make you who you are. When referring to nurture I am talking about how someone is raised. Such as the environment you live in and what is taught to you. As humans we cannot control our nature it is simply what you are born with. When you are born you have all your genes that will decide what you look like, how tall or short you will be, so why do we not believe that our behavioral tendencies, and personality attributes come from our genes too. Psychological theories such as the biological approach, and psychoanalysis have helped to show us how are genetics predetermine our behavior. Researchers have found multiple facts that support each side and for years no one has been able to decide which one influences us over the other one. I believe that our nature has a greater impact on us then our nurture especially when it comes to criminal actions.
Nature vs. Nurture is one of the most prevalent theories in psychology and biology; scientists previously believed that personality traits were derived from either genetics or environmental elements, but more recently have concluded that both factors play a role in the expression of genes. However, the influences of genetics and environmental factors on sexual orientation is still a controversial topic which is currently being discussed in both psychological and biological debates. While many researchers agree that both factors have pivotal influences on the determination of sexual orientation, there are others who feel that either environment, or genetics play a role but not both. Personally, I feel that both genetics and environmental cues affect sexuality. While genetics may make a person more inclined towards a certain sexual identity, ultimately social factors and experiences also play a role in the determination of sexual orientation.
Plasticity as mentioned in this section, which states that the brain has the resilience to develop beyond adulthood based on one’s environment. The brain was originally thought to be "hard-wired" once an individual reached adulthood, with no possibility to further learn, adapt, or develop. This debate is known as the Nature versus Nurture debate. Nature is the "hard-wiring" stating that an individual is born that way, and their environment has no influence; However Nurture is the environments ability to influence an individual’s development. In reviewing the movie about Jody, it revealed how plasticity applied to the Nature versus Nurture debate discussed in Chapter one. Jody underwent hemispherectomy, which removed the whole right hemisphere
There are many different ways that behavior can be explained, especially on the terms of nature vs. nurture. Aggression is a behavior that has been extensively analyzed in a complex manner and the causes of it can be explained many different ways. Aggression can be defined as hostile or destructive behavior that can cause injury or destructive outlook especially when caused by frustration. Nature can be defined as aspects of behavior that have been inherited or are genetic, while nurture is all aspects that are influenced by environmental characteristics and experience. Many factors, both biological and environmental, influence and promote aggressive behaviors, such as hormones and neurotransmitters, genetics, family life, past experiences, and hobbies.
In society, not one person is alike. By saying this, many people believe that they strongly take after their parents. Meaning they think Nature is a big part in their life and why they are who they are. The genes in each cell in us humans determine the different traits that we have, more dominantly on the physical connections like eye color, hair color, ear size, height, and other traits. However, it is still not known whether the more abstract attributes like personality, intelligence, sexual orientation, likes and dislikes are gene-coded in our DNA. The nurture theory has experiments showing a child’s behavior with the environment as to adult behavior. In the Nature Vs Nurture debate, everyone has their own thoughts and ideas on each
The nature vs. nurture issues is the most important study of human development for many reasons. In fact, both issues play an important role in human development over time. One main reason why nature vs. nurture is an important study in psychology today is because of its developmental traits. Traits are characteristics inherited from your parents. Also, a trait is something that is passed down from generation, such as a person’s personality.
Nature vs. nurture is a debate that stretches through all periods of time. Since the biblical era to now the issue is still widely debated and even more so relevant right now than it ever has been. It’s beginnings stem from the first great minds who wondered whether one’s genetics decided their psychology, or rather their environment. Essentially that is all nature vs. nurture is; whether a person’s thought process, actions, and behavior are determined by nature or nurture.
