National Honor Society Research Paper

It is a great honor to be among the commendable students who are being considered for the National Honor Society. The National Honor Society is discernible for showing an interest in students with exemplary grades, great character, leadership, and service. Last year I was enrolled in a tenth grade honors language class, this year I am taking an advanced placement college course. I am enlisted in all honors classes and I strive to do the best that I can not only academically, but in all activities I participate in. I am a strenuous worker and have great character. Everything I try, I give all my effort, for example, in track I show good sportsmanship and cheer on my fellow athletes at every meet. I also show great leadership qualities.

“The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing”, quoted the famous Albert Einstein. Most people don’t care what happens to others who need the help. Luckily, we invented food banks, Wounded Warrior Project, and plenty of other things. I would like to be part of National Junior Honor Society because the very origin of the society came from service. I realize that to be a part of the society, I will need to work hard to get where I want to be.

The National Honor Society (NHS) recognizes students who exhibit academic excellence, as well as students who display a variety of honorable traits which include upstanding character, leadership, and a willingness to serve. Being a part of the National Honor Society means that a person encompasses all of these qualities, as many of those characteristics complement each other. A person with upstanding character most likely has a passion for serving and also has the determination to succeed in an honest manner. Without one of these qualities, I wouldn’t be able to ensure that I possess the characteristics that the National Honor Society requires of its members.

I would be a good representative for the National Junior Honor Society. I believe this because of two things. The first reason is that I get exceptional grades. I try my best to maintain my average over 95. I do not fret when I get a bad grade. Instead I think of it as an opportunity to try even more on the next test or quiz and a chance to learn from my mistakes. The other reason is because I enjoy helping others. I like to help my fellow classmates with their homework if they do not understand it.

So you ask me why should I be able to join the National Honor Society. Well let me tell you why. Society always characterizes people based on race, income and etc, but a person that looks different than others can be someone great if they are given a chance. So let not my race, my income or my personality changed the way you view me as a possible member of this organization. I may have not been in many clubs like others have because of economical reasons. How would you like it to be work everyday with your family before school and after and even when you have break or off for privileges? No, it wouldn’t be nice but I have to do and I also have to maintain my grades in the 90’s because I had to mature quickly as a child. At the beginning I

An anonymous quote says, “The road to success comes through hard work, determination, and sacrifice.” I believe the next stopping point on my road to success is joining the National Honors Society.

Why should I be allowed to become a member of the National Honor Society at Franklinton High School? I’ve contemplated this question over the last two weeks, and I have arrived at the following reasons I would be a good and capable member who would make an excellent contribution.

A good leader inspires people to better themselves. I feel I am a good candidate for the National Honor Society because I have leadership experiences in refereeing youth soccer games, volunteering in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and taking Links, which is a class that helps students with autism in their classes. While referring children's soccer games I had to pick and choose the calls that I had to make so the kids could learn the game but also have fun playing the game. Even though some kids didn't like it, I had to be a sense of authority to them to make sure none of them got hurt when playing soccer. When I go to visit my little brother, for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, I help him with his homework, and also make it fun

I am writing in response to the letter that I have received to apply for the National Honor Society, and I am interested in becoming a member. NHS was first brought to my attention my freshman year, through peers and some teachers who would talk about all of the good outcomes and opportunities that can come about from being a member. From that point on, that has been my goal. I have worked as hard as I could to get up to where I am today.

I, Jacob Revak, both as a student and a citizen, believe that I exemplify the four pillars of National Honor Society: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Every day I strive to be the best person I can be. In doing so, I maintain a high grade point average, serve as a leader for my peers and teammates, aide those who are in need, and act as a role model to those around me through my character. I maintain all of this in hope of guiding others to success. It is in these ways that I believe I exhibit the four pillars of the National Honor Society, throughout my life.

I believe that I would be a perfect fit for National Honor Society. Each and every day I exemplify the four National Honor Society pillars, Character, Service, Scholarship, and Leadership. At the very end of eighth grade our graduating class and teachers had an anonymous vote to pick two people with the best character in the class. I won the award which was called the Marty Lebaron award, donated in the name of a young man who passed away from cancer, but his character was so great it can never be forgotten. I have four younger sisters, very often I am helping them with homework, making sure they are fed, and get to sleep on time. I also babysit my neighbors very small children, their parents trust me to keep their children safe, make dinner, and make sure they get to bed. Every two weeks I would go over and mow my grandparents lawn and clean up their lawn. During the winter I would shovel and make sure the garbage cans make it to the curb on time. This summer when they decided to move to Florida, my dad and I helped them move all of their furniture out of their house and onto the rental truck.

I believe I could contribute to Manalapan High School’s National Honor Society chapter. In addition to being dedicated, resilient, cooperative, and giving back, I am creative and not afraid to start necessary conversations about prominent topics. Whether an event needs to be organized or there is an issue on the horizon, I can contribute to resolving them. I bring energy and dedication to anything I do. From a young age, I was taught that a commitment is a responsibility and it needs to be followed through with. Being accepted into NHS would just reinforce the need to follow that

Being in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that a high school student can earn. It opens up opportunities for scholarships, looks great on college applications, and shows that I’m on the right path for my future. I’ve dreamt about being in NHS for years, knowing its strong reputation and prestige. Now that the moment is here I’m actually happy to say there is something my moms were right about.

NHS would be an honor to join and participate for many reasons. For example, joining the National Honors Society means being something. It gives me the opportunity to help or even change lives of actual human beings and making a difference in this challenging world. I strongly believe that anyone of any age can do something if they put full efforts both physically and mentally into the task. This organization can put these ideas from teenagers to use and help our community in need.
