“Finally… this day has taken forever”, thought Trajan as the bell rang throughout Sioux Center Christian School, signaling the end of the school day. As Trajan walked out of his 6th grade classroom, and into the hall, he was surrounded by fellow classmates. He looked towards the end of the hall for his brother, Damon, who should have just come out of his 4th grade classroom. He then spotted Damon just outside the school doors waiting for him.
As Trajan stepped outside to wait with Damon for their 1st grade sister, Makenna, he was struck by the heat and humidity of the air and started sweating spontaneously. A minute later, Makenna pranced happily out of the school and dashed over to her brothers. “Are you ready to walk home?” asked Trajan. It was not uncommon for them to walk home even though they could ride the bus. Damon and Makenna both nodded, and they all started walking down the sidewalk towards home.
Trajan, Damon, and Makenna stayed together as they walked, which was uncommon because they usually had friends to walk with, but today, for some reason, not all of their friends decided to walk home as usual. As

As they cut across two more lawns to get to another street, the clouds were super close. All of the sudden sirens start blaring all around town! Trajan and Damon looked at each other with fear in their eyes and said in unison, “Tornado”, but it was very difficult to hear because of the howling of the wind and the intensity of the sirens. All three of them took off sprinting down the street. As Makenna started falling behind, Trajan took her backpack so she could try and keep up. They continued running at a pace that would have beat Usain Bolt. The wind and sirens deafened them as they ran down the street. They could see the clouds rotating just outside of town as they made it down that final street that lead to their back yard and safe haven of their
TreVon was rushing to get out the door. He knew if he missed the buss one more time he was going to be in big trouble. He’s older brothers Luther and Jaron never favored him anyway. So they did not care if he missed the bus. TreVon was very smart kid but he wanted to be cool so he did not care about his grades. The boy's mother worked 13 hour shifts at a old mill house. His mother Mary did not like TreVon outside during the late hours of the night. Today was the day he probably wished he
I knew one thing for certain: Tennessee was a very stupid state filled with stupid people and I would never drink their stupid sweet tea. Thus was my twelve year old opinion.
Church, temple, sanctuary, or the Lords’s house, these are just a few names that your average person might call the place you come to worship God, I have always called it home. The Church I have been attending, Memorial Baptist Church, which is also where I attend high school, I have been attending since I was the age of three years old. Moving to the area that my family lives in now, I do not believe is any accident. At the age of two years old, my father was stationed in Tennessee for the military. After passing away from brain cancer, my Mother moved my two older sisters and me to Killeen Texas, to be closer to her family. Memorial Baptist Church was the only church we have ever been members of since moving to Texas, it has always felt like
Advancing my education from BYU-Idaho has been one of the greatest changes that I have ever made. I met precious friends and professors, acquired many enlightening teachings, and strengthened my testimony to become humble. In addition, I learned how to respect others and manage my time effectively. From this experience at BYU-Idaho, I look forward to having another challenge for a new advanced life at BYU-Provo.
Sunshine was pouring out from in between the buildings, casting shadows all around Ponyboy and the gang as they walked to Pony’s school. They were taking their time walking down the streets and for the first time they all were really seeing what was all around them. Memories were surfacing in their minds showing them what it all meant to them. With every step they took on the sidewalk they remembered a different memory as if they were walking down memory lane. Ponyboy didn’t think it was possible for him to be walking down this street for the last time as a high school student, but he had gone through the years with great grades that earned him many scholarships.
or those who know me, they know that nearly every Sunday morning I’ll be sitting next to my wife, on the front row of Topeka Baptist Church. To be clear though, I’m not implying that I’m super-spiritual, nor am I trying to impress anyone by my seating preference. Truth be told, I’m an avid people-watcher and easily allured by my surroundings, so sitting on the front row gives me the best opportunity to pay attention since the only person I can see is the pastor. I can’t tell you the day, month, or even the year when we started attending our church, nor can I tell you exactly how long we’ve sat on that front row now. However, I do know that I’ve listened to the pastor faithfully deliver sermon after sermon, Sunday after Sunday. Although I
He is beginning to plan for his journey until he learns that there is a teacher for the school. He is dismayed when he learns who the new teacher is. The teacher is no other than his older sister, Tansy. Tansy can’t wait for the school year
Dustin was at home he wanted to see where Jimmy was. Dustin looked at his phone it started ringing. The words read, TORNADO WARNING GET IN YOUR HOUSES,AND TAKE COVER NOW. Dustin’s heart started pounding.”MOM,There’s a tornado.” then he remembered his mom said she would be working late. Dustin grabbed his coat, and put on his shoes and went out the door. It was very windy, and the rain was deafening. He could barely see ten steps in front of him. It looked like the air was polluted. The streets were flooded with water as he could barely walk.Dustin managed to see the alley,he tried to walk to the alley but the water was weighing him down. It was like a river,Dustin tried to stand up but then the water surged and he was rushed downhill with
In addition, going to the baptist church made me realize that no matter what your culture is, humans all want the same things. People want a sense of meaning and purpose, and to feel inspired, hopeful, unconditionally loved, accepted, and uplifted. People want to have an understanding of who they are, and what that entails. When people are feeling scared and insecure about the present and future, they demand explanations for the unknown, or the difficult elements of their life. Furthermore, people need order, structure, and security in their lives by being told what they should think/believe, how they should behave. People also seek a sense of belonging and community. Overall,it doesn’t matter if you’re Jewish, Christian, Caucasian, or African American, at the end of the day, humans generally all want the same thing, but just have different ways of showing it or expressing it.
My goal is to go to a college with a good coding or programming course. I have finished elementary school (Ed and Verma Pastor School). I am currently a sophomore in Cesar Chavez. I have used a band saw. I know how to use Microsoft word and PowerPoint. I can type at an average speed. I can do isometric drawing. I plan on my career to involve coding or programing. I plan to take at least one ap class for each year of high school. I plan on joining Aca Dec to increase my GPA. My hobby is playing video games. I am a hard worker and I try to do things correctly the first
I spent a year of college trying to be African. Afrobeats vibrated through the walls of Beets-Veenstra’s first floor dorm. My Christian college had an open-door policy. Walking past the ninth door on the left gave visitors an eyeful of my black hips swaying in circles as if an invisible hula-hoop entangled my waist. I had to get the moves I learned at the parties right. The beats were different from the hip hop music I regularly danced to. They were smooth tempos, but faster than reggae and bodies rocked with more control. My roommate complained about the hours I spent dancing in front of the mirror. We were not flat mates the next the year.
“Fragile! This Side Up.” Simple words printed alongside an arrow on the side of a cardboard box. Red, faded letters that have reflected my past and have hinted at my future. Throughout my life I have moved over twenty times. I have lived in seven different states, over fifteen different cities, and upwards of twenty-five homes. Through each of these moves I have learned countless lessons that have and will continue to affect my life. Embracing new experiences and following God’s plan for my life are two lessons that I believe will influence my academics and goals during my time with Colorado Christian University (CCU). New experiences are life’s freebees that gave me the involvement and skills, I believe, I need to reach my goals at Colorado
I read your entire post, while reading i became a little tery eyed. Only tears of job becuasse you have express a true opinion. You stated evrything i wanted to say. As i loook back at my undergradyuater experience i wonder what will happened if i would just atttend a christain college i first got accepted to. I belive i would still have some of my morals and core valuses.
All I can recall is coming home after a distressed day of elementary school. I went to Live Oak and loved it there.my mom had already indicated to me that I would have to go to a different school, Lake Park, but didn’t have to if I really didn’t want to. I didn’t want to go simply because I didn’t want to leave my friends.
My family consists of a mom, dad, my twin sister, and I. My mom really isn’t in the picture anymore after an abusive relationship with my step dad. This has led to my dad getting full custody of my sister and I during 8th grade. My dad and I are really close as well as my sister. We have been through a lot which has brought our bond even closer. After what I have gone through I wouldn’t go back and change a single thing. It has formed me to be the person I am today. After a rocky upbringing my love for helping others has bloomed into a passion. Knowing how it feels to be going through a lot is the reason I began my ministry in Loganville. This passion has driven my educational choice and future career. I plan to pursue a degree in early childhood
