Technology has evolved over the years, especially in the music industry. We went from buying hard copy CDs to developing music streaming services. The music industry changed once Napster was created. It allowed people to easily share Mp3 files from each other's computers. It was a free streaming service that enabled you to download anything you want without having to pay a cent. It made CD sales plummet and hard copy CDs become obsolete. iTunes is intended for the same thing except it was more developed. It's now one of the most popular in-demand music streaming services.

iTunes was similar to Napster but different in many ways. iTunes has better organization, it has its own section for movies, books, apps, and music. On Napster, you had to know the name of the artist, song, and other details. iTunes has similar features of Napster such as the quick access, unlimited amount of music, higher quality, and the ability to discover new music. The only distinction was that the music came at a financial cost that affected how much people could download to their libraries. iTunes has recommendations and curated playlists that can help you find music to your liking. Streaming is likely to be the future and allows for easy access almost anywhere with modern cellular data.
Moreover, the music industry was affected by Napster because major labels, independent labels, and artists couldn't profit off the music as before. Eventually, Napster got sued by plenty of artists which caused them to shut down. We didn't have these apps or iTunes radio before. The effect of Napster was to provide a new path to profit off music. Many artists weren't getting radio airplay but were able to attract listeners by sharing and discovering their songs through Napster. When it shut down, music fans had to adjust and find other streaming services to fill the void in music sharing.
