As I put down the microphone, I could hear my friends screaming in the back of the cafeteria, as I finished my election speech to be on the National Honor Society executive board. Forcing myself to give that speech turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have always wanted to make an impact on my community, and be a leader, but I always felt too shy, or too scared. That all changed when I was elected onto the NHS executive board. Ever since being elected, I have become very familiar with the four words: character, service, leadership, and scholarship. They are constantly impacting my daily life, as I impact my local community. Being on board has been tremendous in teaching me more about what it takes to be a true leader

As a committed member of the SGA/Leadership class, I was taught to lead by example. I achieved missions to instill values of integrity, passion, and service as I cooperated that into my school and community. The class handed me the opportunity to host school-sponsored events while giving me a hands-on, authentic opportunity to learn and develop leadership skills for the future and put the skills learned into practice through the coordination of planning and implementing events. I was nominated to chair numerous committees. Through delegating tasks, working tight-knit with others, laying a foundation for rules, integrity, and values, I earned credibility. My leadership skills spoke "do as I do" and not "do what I say" which enabled others
NHS is an organization made up of students who regularly demonstrate the four pillars of NHS: Character, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service. Saydel’s chapter of NHS should model outstanding service and leadership within our school and community. Doing so will create a positive environment amongst our community members and students. Utilizing my strong leadership abilities, I believe I can help our chapter of NHS flourish. My strength in organization, self-determination, and ability to engage others will make me a great asset to our NHS

Many only see the National Honor Society as an organization that will look excellent on college applications, and although that may be true, the National Honor Society is not an organization that can be taken so lightly. The National Honor Society is so much more than a scholarship-granting organization, the NHS is an organization that helps develop the requisite for render service and the development of leadership and character. The growth and success of the NHS relies on not only its members, but also those outside of the organization. Its members can only do so much on their own. Part of building character and leadership is to encourage and rely on others whom are capable of helping. The members of NHS shouldn’t let their pride and achievements
“As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others” according to Bill Gates, while John Maxwell tells people that “Leadership is influence - nothing more, nothing less.” Neither of them completely capture leadership, but at the same time, neither of them are wrong. To be a leader, one must empower and influence those they lead in order to get the results they want. Neither one mentions that a leader must be confident in themselves and show others that they are confident with the decisions they make for themselves and others. As president of the Italian National Honor Society at my school, it is my job to promote excellence in the course, as well as in the community. Since our society values giving back to the community, we put an emphasis on community service. Many of the other students in the society worried about completing their hours. I showed them that they did not need to worry about getting their service hours by completing all of my required hours for both National and Italian Honor Societies before the end of November.
My goal in attending a United States Service Academy and becoming an officer in the military is to provide myself ample opportunities to reach my established life goals. I plan to pursue a career in aerospace engineering, and developing that career through one of the academies will help me to achieve the dreams I had as a child. I have many strengths that will help me stand out in the application process, but at the same time, I have challenges to overcome. However, these obstacles will not hinder me from from pursuing my passion.
Members of the National Honors society gracefully and diligently display four important characteristics during and after their induction. These individuals set examples to others through these important traits: scholarship, leadership, character, and service. All of these characteristics are very important and unable to be fully mastered without the other. But with everything, there is always a core or a center. This core of the traits is leadership. Leadership is unattainable without respect, charisma, compassion, and intelligence. A trait taught through the previous characteristics. But leadership is the base of it all, allowing an individual to put together amazing events and providing an opportunity to others through their actions. A
In addition to scholarship, National Honor Society emphasizes community service. I have a passion for service and have been involved in service projects through my church, Dance Team, FFA and 4H. As I reflect on all of the community service events I have assisted in, I have realized that each time I have helped others, I have grown as a person. I have learned to be appreciative of all of the opportunities that my situation has provided for me. Leadership is yet another quality that National Honor Society builds. I have worked on developing my leadership skills through my participation in 4H, church youth group, FFA, and dance. I would like to gain more leadership experience by helping to organize the activities that National Honor Society has throughout the year. A positive character is recognized and developed by National Honor Society. I strive to always maintain a good character. In line with the majority of other developed countries, the United Kingdom (UK) has offered its citizens a universal health care system that is free at the point of service. Funded primarily by taxation, the system is popular and efficient. However, along with most other health care systems around the world, it faces a series of challenges if it is to maintain viability, in the twenty-first century. These issues include; long waiting times, an aging population, funding challenges and the increasing cost of technology.

The purpose of this journal is to reflect on my experience and skills gained during my clinical placement at Ben Taub Hospital. On my first clinical day, I was excited and nervous at the same time. My first placement was in the PREOP/PACU area. I was assigned to help a patient who had been in the PACU area going on 2 days. Normally, once the patient comes from surgery they are only in the PACU area for a short period of time before they are discharged home or given a bed in another area of the hospital. This particular patient still had not received an assignment for a bed. The physicians would make their rounds to come check on him daily. The patient was a 28-year-old Hispanic male, non-English speaking, he had a hemicolectomy. He had a NG tube, urinary Foley catheter, and a wound vac. My preceptor had just clocked in and she needed to check on the patient’s vitals and notes from the previous nurse. Once she introduced me to the patient and explained while I was there, she then asked me to check his vitals. (Vital signs indicate the body’s ability to regulate body temperature, maintain blood flow, and oxygenate body tissues. Vital signs are important indicators of a client’s overall health status (Hogan, 2014). I froze for a quick second. I have practiced taking vitals numerous of times and I knew I could do it correctly. I started with the temperature first, when I was quickly corrected on a major mistake I had made by my preceptor. The National Health System began in 1948 with the aim to provide free health care for the English thus removing health access inequities. This essay considers two strengths of the NHS, being free health and locally responsive health care and two weaknesses being the financial burden and unprecedented pressure on health care resources.
This essay is based on the Case study of a patient named as Mrs Ford. It will be written as a logical account, adopting a problem solving approach to her care. She is elderly and has been admitted onto a medical ward in the hospital, following a stroke. This essay analyses the care that she will receive and focuses on the use of assessment tools in practice. Interventions will be put in place directly relating to the assessment feedback and in line with best practice.
Starting the Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelorette of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at Jacksonville University in June 2015 was a simple transition for me. I had graduated an Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) program in December 2014 and became a licensed RN in January 2015. I had just gotten hired for my first nursing position the month prior to the start of class and had not yet started working. I was very much still in student mode. While this makes it a bit easier to learn and process information in a classroom setting, I had no real world experience to help guide me. Through the knowledge I have gained as a student at Jacksonville University I have become a competent and well-rounded nurse. I am able to quickly problem solve and utilize critical thinking to identify and rectify issues. I have even put together, and will be presenting, and presentation about nursing practice for staff members at the facility where I work.
