Run Like Lightning and Win $1 Million The NFL Scouting Combine is an invitation-only talent showcase for potentially high-ranking draft picks in the next year's NFL draft. The event is a week-long extravaganza where athletes can show off their size, strength, and speed. Athletes that do well at the Combine can expect their draft rank to go up. Those that don't fare so well may end up not even getting drafted. Even though the tests are not truly a showing of how a player will fare in the NFL, when put together with their collegiate portfolio, scouts feel pretty good about the process. Always looking for ways to make a buck, companies clamor for a way to get endorsement deals with the next big star. One company that has been quite effective at snagging talent is Adidas. For years, they have offered prizes to athletes that sign with them and then turn in the best times in various events while wearing their cleats. The biggest money has gone to the best time in the 40. This year, Adidas is upping their game. They are offering $1,000,000 to anybody who can beat the record, even if they have not previously signed with them. The current record is held by Chris Johnson who ran a 4.24 in 2008.
