This offseason has had it's fair share of dramatic signings. Many of the top names in the NFL have found a new home for the 2018 season; names like Sherman, Cousins, Talib, and many others. Lets take a look at what teams have improved the most on the offensive side of the ball this offseason:Honorable Mentions:New York Giants:The New York Giants did not set the world on fire by signing any big names in free agency, but still made very solid additions that will surely help better a horrendous 3-13 record in the 2017 season. Their offensive line, while still not top-tier, should be much improved with the additions of former Patriots tackle Nate Solder, 2nd round pick Will Hernandez of UTEP, and the decision of moving former first round pick Ereck …show more content…
Chicago went out and added a whole tandem of wide receivers, such as former Jaguars' number 1 option Allen Robinson, Falcons' Taylor Gabriel, and drafting University of Memphis star Anthony Miller, who finished his last year in college with over 1,400 yards and 18 touchdowns. These additions are no doubt an upgrade from the sub-par receiving core that the Bears sported in 2017. With brand new receiving options for Trubisky to throw to, an extremely solid rushing attack featuring Jordan Howard, Tarik Cohen, and Benny Cunningham, and what should be one of the better offensive lines in football this year, it shouldn't be a surprise if the Bears storm into 2018 with one of the top offenses in football. The Winner:Cleveland Browns:Oh Cleveland... the laughing stock of the league for so many years has finally had enough. Keep in mind, this is a list of the most improved offenses from last year, and it's pretty hard to be worse than dead last. The Browns had the worst turnover differential of any team in the NFL last year, sitting at an incredible 41 total giveaways. With turnover machine DeShone Kizer throwing the ball, the Browns fell to the infamous 0-16
The Wisconsin Badgers football team has been the supplier of some of the best football players in the NFL. Names like J.J Watt and Russel Wilson are on the tip of peoples tongues every season and this season is no different. There are some players that are in the NFL that their starting job is not as secure as those of Wilson and Watt. With 32 former players in the NFL it is apparent that Wisconsin has produced a large number of players that will take to the field and be part of a large number of highlight reels in the coming season. Here are a few of these that are looking to stand out this season.
Aaron Rodgers has done an impressive job filling Brett Favre’s gab on the Green Bay Packers as stated in the article Green Bay, Once Owned by Favre, Now Belongs to Rodgers. Favre, the previous quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, had led the team until he left for Minnesota two years ago, leaving many fans heartbroken. However, after this past season, Rodgers has proven himself. At first, with injuries to the offensive line, the team was damaged and had 41 sacks in the first nine games, averaging between four-to-five sacks per game. However, they shaped up, with the help of Rodgers, and were considered to be the “hottest team” for the second half of the season. Even with the rocky start, Rodgers still helped make a franchise record of 461
As of right now, the Bucs have Z-E-R-O players with any ability to pass rush. Sure, Robert Ayers is good at what he does, but don't expect more than 6 sacks out of him. William Gholston is a great “run stopping” left DE but don't expect him to get to the opposing QB very often. Last year we drafted Noah Spence and he has shown flashes of his skills, but he has been injured most of the year.
After another wild free agency period, during which a variety of different teams overhauled their rosters, the annual NFL Draft is almost upon us. With the big event beginning this Thursday, below is one last mock draft for the first round. This mock follows the draft order as is (no trades).
During free agency, the Bucs acquired several defensive lineman that have proven themselves to be more than capable. Tampa signed free agents defensive lineman Vinny Curry and Beau Allen, both big contributors to the 2018 Super Bowl Champion Eagle defense, and also signed free agent Mitch Unrein, formerly of
New England has traded away almost half of their picks in the upcoming draft, forcing them to have to deal with the fact of minimal rookies that can better their team for the future. Even, though inexperienced, young rookies have made the pro bowl and made other great accomplishments. This proves how important it is too keep fresh talent coming in. Anyone can see the Browns have plenty of fresh talent coming in. They have not traded away a single pick plus have more picks total than every other team. They total seven picks in the top 108 and twelve total. This shows they are well prepared to build there team for years to come. Their simple, yet strategic way of building their team up is a sure way to have a powerhouse in a few short
The Jags. I have talked about them time and time again, but since the football season is starting back up, I have to do a current event on them. Their lineup is good. The addition of Miles Jack is important, also the adding of a new quarterback. He will be a good backup for Blake Bortles, who is currently very bad. The Jags have never been good. If they have never been good then why didn’t they get the good draft picks?
Bear’s fans starts to get excited every year around this time, but this year is different. Chicago has put together an offense with several threats at every skilled position. The receivers have an excellent opportunity to put together a duo, if not a trio that could easily lead the NFC. The back field is shaping up like it will be a force of its own to be dealt with by opposing defenses. And at quarterback, well, let’s just say Cutler will have no excuses this year.
The Patriots have the biggest non-quarterback difference maker in the NFL. Rob Gronkowski is an absolute beast of a football player. He is an unstoppable force. He is impossible to stop. In addition to Gronkowski, Tom Brady looks better than ever. He is playing with a chip on his shoulder. He, like Rogers has been just about perfect, completing 69 percent of his passes.
The NFL Draft has come and gone, and many teams have vastly improved their roster for the 2017-18 season. However, several teams still have areas of need that demand addressing, even after the addition of rookie talent.
Is there really much to say about the Patriots offense? They are the leaders in offensive yards and the second highest scoring offense of the year (ESPN). They are led by the transcendent quarterback Tom Brady and exemplary offensive mind Bill Belichick. On the other side, the Eagles are led by Nick Foles and Doug Pederson. The Eagles are third in passing yards, fourth in rushing yards, and fourth in points in the postseason (ESPN).
Coming off of their bye week, the Packers finally have a chance to get healthy. Despite, an abundance of injuries the team has still looked like one of the best teams in the entire NFL.
Let's go back in time to the 2009-2010 NFL season. The New Orlean Saints have just finished all of their preseason games and are looking toward the regular season. After a very mediocre 8-8 season in 2008, everybody is writing off the saints. Although to some significant off season trades and very average draft, they were predicted a slightly above average 10-6 season. Playoff contenders for sure, but nobody even thought about super bowl winners. The team was led by Drew Brees. One of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, but with an awful defense and a rushing attack that wasn't much better, the team was projected to be carried solely on the back of Drew Brees all season long. What soon later ensued was
During their decade run as the best division in football, the AFC North’s success has been predicated on tough-nose defense and consistent quarterback play. Omitting the Browns, AFC North teams all have “franchise” quarterbacks entering 2017 in Ben Roethlisberger (15th season), Joe Flacco (10th season) and Andy Dalton (7th season).
