My winter break was very interesting because we traveled much more than we normally do. This is because we went to the ASU game in El Paso, which was special because we almost never travel outside of Arizona or New Mexico. For Christmas, we opened presents. I got a drone with a camera and a robotics kit. The next day, we left town to visit our grandma and grandpa in Duncan AZ. Most of our family was there and we had Tamales and Chiles for dinner, which tasted great, even though we are not of Hispanic ancestry. I got out my drone, but I didn’t have much time to fly it because the day was fading away from us because of arriving late. We slept at our grandparents’ house for the night. The day after that, I flew my drone a bit more and then we
Imagine coming home from school to a car fully packed waiting to go to Fort Walton, Florida. Well that's what I came home to on the last day until Spring Break. We will be going to the beach, swimming, fishing, and more when we get there! I was so excited to leave. The car drive was estimated to be only 10 hours. But on the way a lot of other people had the same idea as us on our trip. Traffic was bad on the way down. There were lots of crashes. Believe it or not there was a backup that was like 4 miles. The cars were bumper to bumper and and it was getting late. In about 30 minutes we got about 1 mile. It was awful! With the bumper to bumper traffic there was another crash. That delayed us about 30 more minutes. We all got grumpy because we
Walking into the sunlit barn hallway, the musky scent of hay and horse fur overwhelms my senses. I see a chestnut-colored horse stick his head over the wooden stall door to greet me. As I look around, I notice other volunteers getting horses saddled up and ready for the next lesson. Turning around I smile at a young student entering with her mom, ecstatic at the prospect of being able to ride a horse despite being in a wheelchair. Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy, located in Gretna, makes dreams possible. People of all ages have the opportunity to learn how to ride a horse despite their physical or mental disabilities. After volunteering at HETRA for five years, the organization has made significant impacts on my personality, interests, and maturity.
Steven Spielberg once said “Technology can be our best friend, and technology can also be the biggest party pooper of our lives. It interrupts our own story, interrupts our ability to have a thought or a daydream, to imagine something wonderful, because we’re too busy bridging the walk from the cafeteria back to the office on the cell phone.” People used to read books before going to bed every night. In the book “Fahrenheit 451”, written by Ray Bradbury, books are not read anymore, they are actually illegal. People have technology that puts books on screens instead being read on paper. Many people tend to think that technology is helping society, but it is actually hurting society. Human beings today are glued to their televisions which proves that our society is nothing but a duplicate of Montag’s society. In the book, “Fahrenheit 451”, written by Ray Bradbury, Montag’s wife, Mildred, says “It’ll be even more fun when we can afford to have our fourth wall installed. How long you figure before we save up and get our fourth wall-TV put in? It’s only two thousand dollars” (20). She is saying that she wants the fourth screen no matter how much it costs or what she has to do to get it. Most of the people in this society think the same way that Mildred does. If we keep thinking like this, the our society will eventually wind up just like the society in Fahrenheit 451.
Though it may seem that the large quantity of college students vacationing in a town for spring break would stimulate the economy and bring in revenue, the assumption is distorted. College students are broke and survive only on necessity goods, rather than luxury goods. In other words, they will pay for cheap motel rooms and bad beer, rather than purchasing fancy hotel rooms and expensive alcohol. Furthermore, college students have little income, so they cannot afford to buy souvenirs, seafood dinners, and participate in activities such as parasailing, compared to the families that vacation in the summer months.
What did I do over winter break? I did so many fun things these past two weeks. I went to the mall with my friend, then he came over to my house, and he gave me a Christmas present.
My 2018 Spring Break was better than usual and began with a great start. For this Spring Break, I went on a Road Trip to visit different college campuses on the northern side of California, a place I had never been to. I went with my program called, LACC Upward Bound that included 34 other students. I did not attend this trip alone and this was great because my friends got to come along on this great experience with me. Arriving to Northern California took about 4- 5 hours and during this drive I took this picture. It is so different from Los Angeles, everything is much greener, beautiful and natural. Our first location was Santa Cruz and the college we visited was UC Santa Cruz. On our way there, I saw many animals like cows, horses, sheeps,
My life was great over spring break. It started with my sister turning 15 on March 10 we decorated her room, then we made her pancakes shaped like the number 15. Later that night we all went out to eat at a fancy restaurant named the cheesecake factory it was some good cheesecake. Then my friend Aidan and I had a sleepover, we played outside went to the park with our other friends like eden, cooper, gressa and olivia. The next day of spring break aidan aj and I hung out for a while. About 1:00 me and aj went golfing with our dads at canyon farms. I felt the sun shining on me, I heard the birds singing it was just a beautiful day of golfing, we played about 9 holes.
Spring break was for an adventure for me. I did lots of stuff from playing games and watching netflix to camping and exploring. On my first few days of spring break, I just slept in and watched netflix. I personally liked how it started out, i wasn't waking up tired and i was at full power when i woke up. The shows i watched on netflix where walking dead and the OA. Later on in the break i decided to rewatch all the Harry Potter movies and that was one of my favorite part of the break. It took me about 2 to 3 days to watch all 8 movies. After Harry Potter I watched other movies but i mostly Played games like Rocket League and Fortnite. On the last week of spring break i planed last minute camping and sleeping over with my friends in the backyard.
Spring break was fantastic and I did a lot of things but the best thing I did is go deep sea fishing. We were planning to do this for weeks and when we finally got to do it I was really happy and exited. It was a lot of preparation for this because we had to clean the boat in and out, I dreaded it. But after we got that done it was sparkling clean. After that I was done and the next morning we had to get up really early and get the fishing poles ready on the back of the boat. Then we loaded everything up and headed for the dock.
For spring break, I went to the airshow and we brought out the family to go and see it. My family and I enjoyed seeing the air show that day. I also went out many times and walked my dog, which was pretty relaxing and went out for a jog. My other family came over and hung out a few times to be together and made food as well. I had track practice a few times and made me more active and felt better about myself, it was tiring but it was a great way to start my day on a daily basis. I had some of my spare time and got to draw many drawings over spring break because it’s what I like doing the most. Meanwhile my parents would work, I would have to babysit my two younger siblings and they were a pain sometimes but I would find a way to calm them
Ever taken a long stroll on a beach, listened to the splashing of the deep blue sea, seen the wonderful flora and fauna which lie on the beach, and suddenly, you trip and fall over some rubbish? Pollution takes away all the beauty of our beaches. I hate to go to the beaches on weekends and see trash bags lying on the sand, cigarette butts buried in the sand, and soda cans floating in the ocean.
Everyone did something divergent this spring break. Therefore, I contemplate this mini vacation has been the first in five years I’ve done exciting things.
I was incredibly excited for spring break; I could already see myself laying on the beach, jamming in the car with my friends and having fun. I was far from what I’ve really lived.
We start out each morning with down time, where kids can make the choice to either go to breakfast, read a book, or choose an educational game on an ipad. After the bell rings and we say the pledge of allegiance,we take lunch count and attendance. The children then take a restroom break and I help monitor the hallway. On Monday-Thursday the next step is small group reading. This marking period a had a group 4 boys who where reading d-g level books. We would also used this time to work on sight words. They enjoy playing a game with those, but it only occurs on days that they can me thiet full attention while reading. On Monday-Wednesday the next activity is do their morning work. In this time I usually walk around and help wherever I’m needed. The kids do a
