Ever since reality hit me four years ago, I wake up everyday reminding myself to always be grateful for your loved ones. I recall the time my family and I took a summer vacation to India. It was a trip I will never forget for a particular reason. As the trip to India was coming to an end, it was time to say our final good-byes to all of our family and friends. On the last sunny day of vacation with drops of sweat running down my face, my mother decided to visit her family one last time before it was time to head off to the airport. My brother, my father, and I went to my aunt’s house in the mean-time to visit my aunt and uncle one final time. In a small town in India, my aunt and uncle, who are both doctors, own a hospital where they actually also live at the upper level. The first two floors consists of hospital rooms and on the third floor is where their home is located. We called for a rickshaw, which is like a taxi in India, and rode in the rickshaw to the hospital. As we arrived at the entrance, we walked upstairs to their house inside the hospital. With little time left, we sat down and talked with my aunt while my uncle was dealing with patients.
As all sat together in the living room spending quality time together, my aunt brought up the idea that she should take a blood test from my father to make sure he didn’t have any health issues that he wasn’t aware of. I refused to allow her to take his blood. My father and I both have a fear of blood and we black out the
Often times when a new president is elected, issues in office are usually faint and non-existent, but when the 43rd president of the United States (George W. Bush) was put into office all of the sunny days and laughter went away. Personally, I would disagree with the amount of work accomplished while he was in office. There should never be a time when any duties sought out for the president should be put aside for “vacation”.
Beth was an interesting woman to say the least. She was very talkative and had an eccentric personality. She might have been a smidge under the influence on this very normal afternoon but she was still a nice and fun person to talk to. Ashley and Kevin and I got to know her and all about her family all too well sitting at the bar at TGI Friday’s.
This year on Spring Break my family went on vacation to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We traveled there a couple of times when I was younger, but don’t have any memories except for the flight. I want to share two favorite things that were awesome about our trip, the food and the gift shops. I really enjoyed both of them because the food tasted delicious and the gift shops had a bunch of cool items such as chocolate, medication, beach towels, and a lot of expensive jewelry and antiques that just cost too much.
My first trip to Disney World, now that, that was a memorable trip. That trip was one of the most magical and happiest memories of my life. It was back in 2008, I had just turned 6 years old a few months before we left to go there. It was summertime, and the weather was perfect. I remember being so bored on the way there because I am an only child so I didn’t have anyone to entertain me besides myself. My mom’s side of the family went on this trip with us, and at the time I was the only grandkid, and the only kid at all. So once we finally were almost there I remember passing the big ‘Welcome to Disney World” sign and being so excited I peed my pants--my mom was pretty mad, but my dad thought it was kinda funny so I didn’t get in too much trouble.
As a child, I believed that I was invincible. Nothing stood in my way and if it did, I just tore the obstacle down from the source. Whether it was trees to climb, pools to jump in, or wild hair getting in my way; I always overcame them. There was point in my childhood though, I realized not everything was under my control and power. I didn’t receive everything I desired like I was believing. My childhood untainted mind was rocked with a new discovery and mindset. Of all places for this change to happen, it was on a family vacation to Disney World.
“The best things in life are the people we love the places we’ve been…. And the memories we’ve made along the way.” by Unknown. 2017 started off terrible but then soon got better from a little help from God. My family found out we won a trip to Hawaii. My parents were deciding whether or not they should take us kids with, my brothers Chris was 18, Matt was 11, Nic was 8, and I was 15. Then my parents talked and the decided that it would be our last family vacation with just our family saying chris went to college the next year and probably will find a girlfriend. Hawaii I know made me look at life a different was saying everything that just happened to me.
This winter break was part of my construction month, so I was going about my project in many
In the past two weeks, I’ve had family death and family hospitalized which caused a great amount of stress on me. My grandfather’s oldest brother died a month before his birthday, October 26th. It left a great deal of pain on my chest as I watched his grandchildren speak about him in ways I didn’t know was possible. Shortly before his death, my grandfather was hospitalized. I became accustomed to him being hospitalized since it was something unordinary. I didn’t expect this visit to be one of great length, but as usual with visits like these, I was mistaken.
Could the day become any worse? One afternoon, my grandmother was looking for houses, I wanted to go to the mall before 8 because there a huge sale. Suddenly the car started to make disturbing noises, when we stopped at the stoplight the car cut off and begun to overheat! The mall was already about to close and the car was steaming! So we decided to relax and turn the radio on. My favorite song came on and the man on the radio offered $200,000 to the first caller, we called and won the money! My aunt and I called my grandmother to tell her the amazing news, she said “ this would be the perfect time to go on vacation!” so my family decided we would like to travel within the united states and while there, we would visit the cities of New York City, Hollywood, and Miami.
It was a beautiful September day when I received a phone call telling me to rush to the hospital immediately. I didn’t know it at the time, but my mom was having a brain hemorrhage. According to the Neurologists at Strong Hospital, there was a 90% chance that what my mom was dealing with was fatal and a 10% chance that it was a miniscule internal bleed. Thankfully, my mom was in the minority. They assured my family that she would leave this situation just as she had walked into it. Through these hard times, I learned an important lesson and that is to always treat people like it’s the last time you’ll see them. It’s important to appreciate the little things that people do because in reality, those are the big things that mean the most. Each day I wake up and feel thankful to simply have a heartbeat.
I took off a few weeks ago for a TDY trip, and after returning had an opportunity to take a couple weeks of vacation prior to instructing a four month training course starting on 11JUL16. We picked up my children, and traveled around for a couple of weeks visiting family. I know that doesn't fit the traditional, excused absence policy, but I needed to spend time with my children since I only see them once, maybe twice, a year depending on deployments. It was for me as much as the children also. There was an opportunity, and I took it. I would rather lose money for a course than feel guilty as a
Where in the world would you most likely want to visit?! I chose the Bahamas because it would seem like a very nice and beautiful vacation spot to go to. The capital of the bahamas is Nassau and the place I would love to stay at is in the Grand bahamas. Someday, I will take my mom and brother on a vacation to a city they have never been to before they would be so happy. I would be very excited! To go there because it seems like stuff I would want to do before I die. Even though, there is way more places I would like to visit out of state that is my main one that I chose. I've seen pictures on the internet of the bahamas and it looks so perfect and so pretty! That is one of my goals. I love the way the water looks and it just looks like the
Millions of stories exist of people who forget to tell their loved ones how much they mean to them, or those who forget to thank others that help them. There was a time in my life where I became more grateful towards others and learned to appreciate everything done for me even if the reasons for it were unclear. When I saw the way my Aunt Estela lived, everything immediately changed for me. She dedicated her entire life and worked selflessly until the end to ensure that her family was taken care of, yet was taken for granted.
A family vacation that is important to me was the trip to Washington D.C. I took in 2006. I went on this vacation with my family friend and my two nephews. We went to Washington D.C. because my nephews had a strong interest in learning the United States history along with myself. We decided to go to Washington D.C. because it has a rich history in the United States and was one of the best places to learn about our country and its presidents. I chose to take my nephews with me to Washington because it was a great bonding experience with them and really allowed family bonding time that got them away from home. I chose to go with my family friend because he was also interested in history at the time. During our vacation, we went to many places that made a huge impact in our lives and will always make a huge impact in our lives.
Now that I’m older and more mature, I believe that I now understand the meaning of Christmas better but I am not as excited for the holiday than I was as a child. Last Christmas Eve, I was excited for my brothers and grandparents coming down from the city. I would have to wake up really early in the morning to clean the whole house, such as, sweeping the halls and cleaning the dinner tables. While I was cleaning, my mother started cooking and taking out the turkey out of the fridge, that has been prepared and marginated since the day before. I would take small breaks just so I could watch her because she was using my great grandmother's recipe which consisted of using twenty tomatoes for the sauce. My eyes would burn as she cut the tomatoes and onions since the acidity mixed together, then she would put them in a huge pot along with putting in chicken broth and hispanic peas. When she started to heat up the sauce, the aroma filled the whole house and my mouth water already imagining what it would taste like. The sauce was my favorite part of the food since it was so savory and delicious, it was hard not to enjoy it. My mother would bathe the turkey with the sauce and each beadlet of sauce would either be soaked up or slide off the turkey’s back, it was very beautiful in a weird way. After bathing the turkey, she would put the turkey in the oven and on occasion she would do the same progress again, but just in the oven. The next step was making mash potatoes, which went
