Both Yolande Cornelia and Langston Hughes are African America, but they were live in different time. Because of the poem and comments from Yolande, I think it’s a reliable source. The author use the poem wrote by Langston Hughes to reveal that during the Langston’s and his time, white people usually ask something stupid about black, because they were lack of knowledge about African American, as an African America, the author thought that was terrifying. The questions from the white such as “How do you get your hair to curl like that?” could indicate that in 20th century how biased the white people to other race. That’s also an aspect I want to show my readers that what are the things in the whites’ head made them to discriminate other race.

The author, Meltzer, Milton, is an American historian, who wrote Mark Twain Himself, and Starting From Home. The content is about Langston Hughes’s school life. The teachers were tried to correct these African American students’ political view by continuing force them to believe Americanism, even though they couldn’t understand what is Americanism. Education is also an crucial part of life, because of their race African American children or teenagers had to study something that unrelated with them. I turned Langston Hughes’s experience into an gossip and combined with the judgement from the white students to show the racism is not off age and also, the ideological persecution is another form of racism
