My Responsibility To America

Each citizen of the United States of America has many responsibilities and many ways to fulfill those responsibilities. However, there are many people within this country that never take those duties seriously. We as Americans need to remember those who gave their lives to form and solidify the foundations of this nation. In addition to that, our freedoms are constantly being threatened, and in order to continue with our freedoms and way of life we need to be willing to fulfill our obligations to our country. This also can be done in many ways. Filling a government office can supply the means by which to enhance the nation. By paying your taxes and obeying laws you can enhance the country by enhancing the quality of life that we all live. You can be a good neighbor and help out your fellow man. Not all Americans will think and believe the same way, but we are all still Americans. When you look around at all the nations of this world that have oppressed citizens who long for an opportunity to live in a great country like America where freedom is in abundance, it fosters a sense of patriotism. If you stop and think about that for a while, you will have a new sense of gratitude and pride for where you live. This is why we should strive to enhance this country continually. Having a sense of patriotism is a way to enhance this nation also. John Wayne said it beautifully when he said “Sure I wave the American flag. Do you know a better flag to wave? Sure I love my country with all her faults. We have to be able to look at our country not just as a nice place to live but as the greatest country on this world. You owe it to those who have come before you to responsibly manage the future of this country. The future is in our hands and the question is, what are we going to do with it? Are we going to allow this country to decline until it is overtaken and our freedoms lost? The answer should be a resounding no. We should fight and work hard for change to see reform in this country. We should push to see morals and respect re-enter everyday life. We can make change and we will make America once again a country that shines. Every citizen of the United States of America has a responsibility to protect, to enhance, and to preserve the nation. There are many ways we can each fulfill this obligation. So now we must challenge ourselves to accept the responsibility, and keep America as the greatest nation on this
