My Philosophy of Teaching
Education is an important aspect in the lives of all individuals. From the day we are born until the day we die, we are constantly learning. At a very young age, children begin attending school. Throughout their educational career, children have many different teachers who hold many different views, beliefs, and values. Methods of instruction, personalities, and classroom interaction are all unique to the teacher. Some teachers may come in each day just because it’s their job, and they need the paycheck. Yet, the ones who are there for the success of their students are the ones who truly make a difference.
I believe the success of a student depends tremendously on the teacher.

Teachers should pass this enthusiasm onto their students and gain their interest in the subject. Children need teachers who care about them, teachers who love them. When a student knows you care, they are more likely to succeed.
Teachers should have confidence in their students. They should set high expectations for all students, and then give them the support and encouragement they need to obtain those expectations. Teachers should praise students. They need to create a comfortable learning environment where students can make mistakes. Mistakes are a part of learning. As a child my mother always told me, “Practice makes perfect” and “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” At times, students may become frustrated. Teachers need to encourage their students and give them positive reinforcement. They should help their students to never give up.
At times, even the best teachers may not be coming through to their students. What may seem like the perfect lesson plan for one class may not be such a success in another. Yet good teachers have the ability to recognize this. They monitor and adjust. Teachers need to observe their students to see if the lesson is coming through to them. If it is not, the teacher should not give up and move on to new material. They need to adjust, and reteach the lesson in a way that will come though to the
I believe that every teacher should have well-strucuted lessons. The teacher should be able to adjust to practice while the lesson is being implemented. The teacher should be able to recognize if she students may be struggling and how to adapt the lesson to the needs of those students. The teacher should be able to reflect on the lesson after the lesson and learn how to change the lesson if needed.

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to play a big part in children’s education, which is why I have decided to enroll for an education course. I believe that educators have a lifelong impact on their students and on the development of resilience. Thus, I aspire to inculcate my love for learning into the next generation, by influencing and inspiring children all through their formal education.
In today’s society it is nearly impossible to survive without an education. It is important that we have the right kind of teachers to accomplish certain goals. A good teacher is one who listens to their students and tries to answer any questions they might have about anything. I think that a good teacher should also be able to listen to others opinions and not argue with them but try to understand their point of view on the subject.
Successful teaching occurs when the teacher is able to select the most efficient method for reaching out to each student’s individual style of learning and inspire students to rise to their highest potential. While the responsibilities of a teacher are extensive (as one can serve as a teacher, a friend, a counselor, a disciplinarian, an entertainer, a facilitator), I believe that students should play a big part in shaping own education as well.
I believe that teaching is one of the most important professions in the world today. From the very beginning, until present time, teaching has been around. The book of Genesis speaks of God walking and talking with Adam in The Garden of Eden, God was teaching Adam. I will be proud to, one day, be a part of this great calling.
One of the most important aspects of teaching is being able to effectively instruct students in the classroom. Effective instruction to me is being able to help students get to the end goal while giving feedback and assessment along the way, which will deepen their overall understanding of the content being taught. To do these things, it is crucial to meet student’s current needs and help them see that it is okay to struggle! When teachers can understand, and correct their mistakes and weaknesses, they are then more able to help students go down the right path. My own personal journey through my education and reflection as a student studying, teaching, and learning has shaped by beliefs in the way I learn and the way I want to teach. My personal teaching philosophy consists of several teaching philosophies. It is a mix of progressivism and existentialism. I believe in progressivism, I believe the concept that students should be provided with learning experiences that are dynamic and teach using hands-on approach. I think when a student is learning about a subject that interests them and is relevant to them, learning is improved. Lessons should boost curiosity and be thought provoking. Although, funding in some school makes this difficult due to lack of materials, teachers should attempt to improvise
Establishing high expectations in the classroom is an essential component of building successful student experiences. Do not under estimate their abilities. Students rise to the occasion when working with teachers who push them. I will make sure to set high expectations but not too high that become impossible to achieve. I’ve found from my short time in Mrs. Jones room that kids love to be challenged. They accept challenges and work extremely hard to meet any expectations set forth by the teacher.
To be an effective educator, I believe one must have a foundation of moral and ethical principles. An educator should support the learning environment, while being flexible and teachable. He or she must also lay a foundation of beliefs on how individuals learn, seeking to enable individuals to reach their optimal potential. My personal educational philosophy begins with believing all children are unique individuals, with different emotions and different styles of learning. An educator has the incredible challenge of attempting to meet those needs. As an educator, I believe all children deserve the opportunity and resources that would better enable them to reach their maximum potential.
Learning is not a skill that is necessarily instinctual or easy, and therefore different approaches must be used to make learning easier and more fun for students. Teaching is not a skill that can be memorized or made repetitive, and so teachers must continue to challenge not only their students, but also themselves. Teachers that become complacent in their jobs are not good teachers. Those who can find a way to make an old lesson new and exciting will have an energized classroom, and will be reenergized themselves.
Administrators should enter a teacher’s classroom with the idea that the teacher is a terrific teacher. Preconceived optimistic feelings are essential because the administrator wants to build on the positive aspects of their teaching ability. Nonetheless, it is also important to keep in mind that every teacher can improve in some area. The administrator’s goal for observations should be to build a relationship with each member of the faculty so that offers of advice and ideas on how to improve in areas where refinement is needed can be given in a way that is comfortable for both parties.
In the field of education there could arise many philosophical ideas of each individual teacher. Many of the past philosophies have been and still are used in today’s education programs, such as the Socratic method. My philosophy will also contain some of the many philosophies of the past and possibly the future. I will state the nature of students, the nature of knowledge, the purpose of public education, method, and curriculum according to my own philosophies, which also may be based the philosophical ideas of previous individuals.

Students are placed in the responsibility of their own learning and understanding while the teachers encourage students to be more independent and more exploratory. The teachers will foster a sense of autonomy in the learning process as they act as a source of experiences.
