My Personal History
A little while back I was invited to see a Broadway show for my cousin's birthday, and I was very happy to find out it was a show I had been listening to for some time. I was extremely excited to see something that I already loved, and with the original cast! The theater was beautiful and the set very modern, with blinking lights and screen projection. It was nothing like I had ever seen before; however, the show itself has shaped me to be who I am today. Watching this piece of theater felt magical. The emotion all the performers showed was incredible. The acting ability of these people was both incredible and painful. The show was tragic and heartfelt, with an accurate portrayal of the mental illnesses and struggles of today's children. It was the most beautiful work I had ever witnessed. The music remained stunning and the amount of effort these people exerted on the stage was jaw dropping. Even if it is hard to describe how absolutely exquisite this musical really is, it still tells a beautiful and raw story. Everyone who sees it can relate to the hardships these characters have faced, and that's what makes it so wonderful.

In order to make a career out of theater, I would have to work incredibly hard. Even then I might not make it, so some ambition was lost. But when I saw Dear Evan Hansen, the broadway show, it inspired me to actually chase my passions. It moved me so much I saw it again and I got to meet my idol. These moments have led me to chase what I love doing and reach for more opportunities. I finally know what I want to do for the rest of my life, and seeing that cast tell such a heart wrenching story inspired it. Without this moment I wouldn’t be working so hard to make my passion a
On February 26th 2016, I went out with my friend to saw this event. It was the first time of my life to be in such production. I was not a fan of theaters. I thought they are boring. Now, my mind has changed because the play was amazing. So, on the next day,
Growing up in a small town in Georgia, Denee faced many challenges in pursuing her dream. She did not have the resources or opportunities that many aspiring Broadway actresses had. However, Denee’s determination and passion for performing never wavered. She took every opportunity she could to perform, whether it was in school plays or community theater. Despite the financial struggles her family faced, Denee’s parents supported her dream and encouraged her to never give up.
The production was zany, extravagant, and all around weird – But I loved every minute of it. If you get the opportunity to see this musical, be forewarned that you will wondering what you just saw. But you will also leave with a smile and a few laughs behind you that make the adventure
Before I even entered high school, I obtained a love of theater and the performing arts. I have been singing and acting since I was nine, as well as on and off dancing since three. Taking classes at a local theater really introduced me to this interest of mine. When I entered high school, an injury kept me from doing shows. But now I graduate with nine high school shows under my belt, as well as being in multiple community theater productions. Being a part of these shows made me feel a strong sense of belonging, and whether I was an ensemble or lead
I've been experiencing live productions for my whole life. My relationship with the performers was very strong. Usually, when I see a live production, I look for character development, change, and believability. Bingo:The Winning Musical did not change what I look for in a play, but it did give me a new experience for looking at musicals.
I saw my first Broadway show at only seven years old and have seen over ten more since then, due to the fact I live only two hours away from New York City by train. I always enjoyed theatre, but I didn’t grow the deep love I have for it now until acting became a career option. I spent a week of the summer completely in the business world of theatre and came out knowing I had to be an actress. I dived into all things Broadway, bought as many albums as I could, watched as many interviews as possible, saved up to see more shows, but even with all of this love for
This was the first play or theatre performance that I have attended. I was unsure of what to expect, but I heard great things about this play. Furthermore, the first aspect of this production that caught my attention was the design of the set. The design gave the feeling of a run down urban neighborhood by making the outer parts of the stage look like an old brick building. The building looked like one you would find in a low-income area or projects. The scenery of the play set the stage for what type of production this would be. I especially liked the way they carefully chose not to place just any kind of props on the stage. The dusty
This past Wednesday, I embarked with my National Honor Society on a field trip to watch the performance of a Christmas classic, Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol. The performance was a stage musical performed by the cast of the La Comedia dinner theatre. Being a strong performer in the theatre and theatre enthusiast myself, I was excited to watch this Christmas classic come to life on stage. As a child, I made frequent visits to La Comedia with family members, so I find myself very familiar with this theatre. I have always found a love for the atmosphere of the theatre, the food provided, and the performances presented on the stage. At La Comedia, they claim to provide ‘a taste of Broadway’, which immediately sets the standards for each production. I have very high expectations for each performance I attend and this performance of A Christmas Carol did not disappoint. The actors of La Comedia definitely do not lack extraordinary talent, and the entire theatre staff sticks to traditions they have developed over time, giving the entire setting a wonderful, traditional ambiance. The La Comedia performance of A Christmas Carol did an exquisite job of bringing this story to life while sticking to the classic tale, with the additions of great songs from the Broadway version and the overall atmosphere and service provided for an entertaining event.
The last play I went to was Hairspray at Toby’s Dinner Theatre in Columbia when I was 12.After reading the syllabus for class, I was very excited to see a theatrical performance especially at the age I am now because I’ll understand it more. I thought that the Bluest Eye was a beautiful, informative and expressive performance. I went in with an open mind because I didn’t know what to expect. After reading some Toni Morrison’s books which are filled with a imagery and surprises, I was very excited to see a theatrical performance based on one of her books. I appreciated how raw and deep this performance was. History always repeats itself, and I really liked how they made that prevalent by including modern day issues.
Seeing my friends and other students having fun and making me feel like I was up on that stage with them. There were two specific characters that really stood out to me, these two characters stood out to me because, they were full of emotion and energy through the whole night for all the shows. My favourite characters were Corny Collins, and Amber Von Tussle. I think the rest of the cast could have used more energy and used their emotions more because, through most of the show some people showed no emotion at all and had a straight face. In the opening number of the play everybody had energy and was happy with emotions. I think that was the best energy in the whole show. However, I get it the lights on the stage are hot and by the end of the night you get exhausted because you are using up all your energy. You got to fight through it either by staying hydrated, eating, or taking a rest on a break you must get through. Performing is a very hard thing to do, and while you are working your butt off some people in the audience think it's easy. Until they try and do it and find out the challenges and how hard it is to do the things we
When I say watching this play was a nostalgic experience, that was an understatement. Rewatching this play brought me back to my childhood and reminded me what good disney movies were. From music, to production, to acting, to dancing, to the set, all of it was more than pleasing. The
I am grateful for the experience of seeing this show on stage, and I have now experienced it in all its forms (film, stage, text). New York is said to be the theater capital of the world. It is so important to me to see a show that is centered around the lives
Not thrilled, nor underwhelmed, nor neutral; simply satisfied in the best way. The billowing drapes and clean folds of the costumes, the chiming voices of the actors sharing song and monologue, and the swirling movement of the dancing all added to the newfound fervor I later found in the theatrical arts. At the moment, I interpreted it to be only wild interest, something I had not experienced in a while. I came to the show knowing I would enjoy it, there was no doubt, but I had not expected being touched emotionally to the point where the experience switched what I would want to pursue as a hobby and possibly as a career, starting with my part in Guys and Dolls though that was an entirely different situation. Performing seemed to come naturally with a certain.ease. Viewing this production was what led to the series of events that caused my desire to include the fine arts as a major portion of my life as it is today. Inspiration comes from different sources and is rooted by different events, no matter how insignificant they may seem at the time, but they all come together to create the whole and cause
It was about two hours until the doors opened and I was sitting in staring at my television, appearing to be in a trance. On the screen a mob of what looked like 30 or so zombies were chasing me through a maze of pilars and various piles of rubbish as I swiftly navigated the ceiling of an upside down temple in Tokyo. I was supposed to be headed to the ATM to withdraw gas money and a bit of spending money-in case I wanted to get a t-shirt or something but my Playstation's grip on me was as strong as ever. Fortunately, it wasnt long before my undead counterparts overwhelmed me and ended the game. I hopped up, grabbed my vynle copy of Return of 4eva and everything I would need for my journey, and darted out the door. I was embarking on my journey to the Granada Theatre where, after a lot of waiting, I would not only watch Big K.R.I.T. perform, but also I would also be able to meet him afterwards.
In the musical I love how the lights represent it some of the time change also it was a very good use of Lights to symbolize the time changing. And the musical that use certain costumes and elements to show that people were getting older or becoming a gentleman or ladies and Jo’s little sister lost her pigtails it was a subtle change but it was a really good change. The scene changes were really awesome I don’t know what to call them but I love how he use the huge unfolded canvases for changing the scenes I thought that was really nice and I loved at the boarding school or I think it was the house where they had the drapes they had some of Jo’s stories on them that was really awesome too. All in all everyone did a really great job on the musical on stage and backstage and anyone else who participated in the musical did a great job to get this wonderful creation on its feet and I would go see it again if I could because it was a wonderful experience that I would not trade for the
