My Mother, My Hero In 1859 Henry Ward Beecher said, "the mother’s heart is the child’s schoolroom." I believe that statement because of experiences I’ve had with my own mother. I have learned more about life from her than from my 15 years of schooling. Over the last 20 years my mother has taught me many valuable lessons just by being a living example of compassion, thoughtfulness, and generosity. She is an angel that has protected and carried me throughout life. In the book, One Day My Soul Just Opened Up, Iyanla Vanzant said, "a truly compassionate person is one who can feel what you feel because they are one with you in mind, body, and spirit, not out of obligation or a false sense of responsibility. A compassionate person is …show more content…
Besides being compassionate my mother is thoughtful. She stays at work late if someone needs help with theirs. She brings my grandmother dinner and runs errands for her. She is always putting others before herself. For instance, last year I began singing in the choir at Iowa State. It was really important to me because singing has always been a passion of mine. She drove to Ames for every single concert. It meant a lot to me to have her in the audience supporting me. This year I also started singing in the choir at my church. I was really excited and nervous about singing the first Sunday so few days before I was going to sing she gave me a beautiful necklace with a star pendant on it. I remember her warm hug and her telling me good luck and that I was ‘her star’. It touched me that she took time out of her busy schedule to encourage and support things that she knew were important to me. She could have just wished me well and enjoyed her few minutes of spare time, but instead she put me first. The third aspect I admire in my mother is her generosity. She is always buying things for others. We aren’t a rich family by any means, but she is always giving. Just a few weeks ago my mother’s friend was talking about not being able to afford a new winter coat for her son. That night my mother went out and bought him one. Then about a month ago my mother heard about a woman who is a recovering drug addict.
My mother holds kindness and compassion within her heart. These qualities guide her. Her compassion and selflessness lead her to help people on a daily basis, whether or not she is working.
When we were growing up my mother made sure my siblings and I were always taken care of. She would sacrifice her own happiness for ours.
My mom is the person I look to in almost every situation. She is the person I aspire to be. When I hear about the things she done and overcome, I can’t help but respect her even more. She’s been with me through everything and I appreciate her for that. There are many things she’s done for me, some I’m sure I know nothing about.
Her father had been murdered when she was a small child. I never heard my mother talk about the sacrifices that she made for her family. Despite the sacrifices and challenges that she made, she went on to have a full life. Thus, my mother was my greatest role model of what I could do in my own life.
My mom is a selfless person because she always puts others first and will do whatever she needs to do to make others happy. When having dinner or going out to eat with my mom she always makes sure I and the others in my family have enough to eat. Even if that means her eating less so we can have more. If I order something at a restaurant that I end up not liking, she is always the first one to offer to trade with me even if that means she is receiving something she doesn’t like. When we travel she always makes sure everyone else is comfortable. Whether that is the temperature in the car, or what seat you get on the plane, she is always willing to give up what she wants to satisfy others.
This woman inspired myself and my siblings to be who we are now. To fight hard for what they want and what it takes to get it. This person is not only a brave hero to many, but she is a loving mother of mine. Her name is Zejna and she is not quite the person who is known for the simplest things, but she is known for who she is. She has beautiful green eyes that match her oval face and rosy cheeks that show the enthusiasm she has for everything. My mother always was the person to help out others and those in need because she knows how it feels like to get something from others. She always had the impression of others as hard working, kind, and loyal. One of the things she says to her children of advice is, “All can happen if it’s wanted.” Whenever there is a lack of participation of some sort, she will say this exact thing to bring your confidence up.
She is the greatest mother a son could ask for, and the largest influence in my life. Her influence is with me every day. It is like the wind, one moment so soft that it goes unnoticed the next a gale that cannot be ignored. Her influence can only be described as dynamic. It was the push that I needed when I was afraid to take a step, and the cool reason that protected me when I tried to soar too high. Her love and encouragement was exactly what it needed to be, when it needed to be; for that I will always love and admire the great woman that I call
My mother is gentleness and considerate. I remembered when I was three years old; I had a fever one winter night. When my mother noticed my condition, she carried me to the hospital to see the doctor right away. At that
Growing up, my mom has always been the person in my life that kept me appreciative. Her story and all she has done and continues to go through is absolutely remarkable. I often ponder about how I was so blessed to have a mother who is so strong and resilient against every obstacle. Without her I would not be the determined God fearing individual I am today because she makes me see that nothing can stop me from their dreams so long as I believe.
Watching my mother push through hardships has taught me to set even higher goals for myself. As I grew older, these family traits and values became
She was there when I needed help walking down the stairs at night and she was there when I needed help changing in order to shower , and then again when I needed to change to clean clothes. And all the time it was with the brightest of smiles as if she enjoyed taking care of me again like as if she had a second chance at babying me. Every morning I would wake up to the smell of buttery toast, fluffy egg whites and the decadent smell of chocolate pancakes. But I’ve always seen this side of my mother but what really touched me was when I had to go through rehab. When the sessions started to get tough and I felt I couldn’t take it anymore she was there telling me to press on and to stop being a wuss. That’s when my mother changed from being an over protective mom to my hero.
Everyone has a hero and everyone can be a hero. A hero is someone you look up to and inspire to be. The dictionary defines a hero as a person who has made noble or brave accomplishments, but we can all be heros. A hero isn’t someone with superpowers; a hero is someone who is doing something for the greater good. My mother is a true Michigan hero.
My mother's heart is at its purest when giving. I witnessed my mother chip in and pay
She has the power to make you smile when you’re down, make you cry by telling a story, keep you under control when you’re too rowdy and get angry when needed. Family is an important thing to my mother. She loves to spend as much time as she can with them. She believes in the Hawaiian saying, “Ohanna: Nobody gets left behind.” This past summer we went on a cruise ship. The whole side of my mom’s family had gone. I enjoyed my time there, especially when we arrived in Cozumel, MX.
My mother is an important person in my life. She is a Strong, disciplined and a super woman who has spent her life in her endeavor to become a successful. Born in a middle class Indian family, she faced many challenges and overcame hurdles in life to achieve her goals. She followed her passion towards education and goal of becoming a top most scale-1 officer in a bank. Her ability and focus developed the bank business resulted in substantial growth and huge profits. She was a real inspiration and I followed her ideals in my life.
