My Leadership Philosophy

A good leader leads from the middle and not the front. Leadership is working with people in order to complete a task, instead of telling others what to do. Delegating and helping others realize their potential and work to their strengths is what leadership is all about. Leadership is the ability to listen to others and show them the right path. I strive to be a leader in all I do. As a pharmacist, I will be the leader in the community and be able to help patients with their medical needs. While I have had times in my academic classes that I am able to step up and be the leader, I often use my leadership skills most in extracurricular activities. I have served as President of my cooperative house, where I learned so much from the constant leadership.

I feel like my persona was sculptured and formed by my family. Everything they have taught me, I have kept with me for any obstacle that may come my way. My mom and my sister are the ones that are there for me the most and have taught me everything from respect to responsibility. I have learned to be a leader ever since I was young. An important person in my life that really enforced my leadership skills is my sister. Taking care of my older sister who has down syndrome did not only portray me as a leader, but I acquired a very useful trait that is patience.

Throughout my short life, I have come to realize that a leader does not necessarily, although they may, maintain a defined position of leadership. A leader is one who will rise to the challenge even when the odds in opposition. A leader will tackle any barrier that stands in the way of the goal. A leader is willing to be hated and face criticism for doing what is right. Leaders come in all different forms, but a leader is the one who is always willing to make the difficult decisions.

Who am I as a leader? What comes to mind when you hear the word leader? Some would think of our Commander in Chief, others may think of their boss or their teachers. All of these are just titles. I believe that leadership is something that can’t be narrowed down into a title or a position of employment. The choices we make and the obstacles we conquer is what I believe to define us as a leader. With the personal experiences I have had to bear as a U.S. Marine Infantryman and civilian worker, my leadership abilities have proven dedication to my team, knowledge and determination in specific trade, and the ability to motivate those around me.

Forward. The motto of my home state, Wisconsin. It inspires a sense of effect, the sense of pushing towards the greater good; a faith for humanity and it’s endeavors. To move everyone forward towards a goal is the guise of leadership, but the way in which one leads will determine the effectiveness of a leadership effort.

Leadership has held a very important role in my life. Having many leaders in my life has helped me become who I am and who I want to strive to be. The importance of leadership is the basis of our community because without leadership nothing will get done. Our community would cease to exist. I have seen many leaders in my life but one of many people I admire is my father.

Since I was in elementary school, my parents and teachers have encouraged us to be leaders in every activity. When I prepared for to application of universities, my advisors told me I should emphasize my quality of leadership to attract admissions officers. Is leadership so important for all people to be successful? What will happen if everyone desires to be a leader?

As a leader, it's important to know yourself. In fact, I believe you can't lead if you don't have some basic knowledge of who you are as a person; like beliefs or strengths and weakness. My leadership must incorporate not only my positive attributes but must be willing to make changes with aspects of my personality that don’t work. Admittedly, I am sensitive and also passive. I tend to avoid conflict as much as I can. These characteristics might lead to issues of weakening my leadership. Being a leader to me shows having to show a strong front to most people. That doesn't mean a person should compromise who they are. I have to have a certain image when I enter a classroom. I can learn to be more assertive and have a firm voice in a classroom. I looked at the Johari Window website, to see what results I would get on their quiz.

A leader by its meaning is one who goes first and led by example, so that others are motivated to follow. To be a leader, a person must have a deep rooted commitment to the goal that they will strive to achieve even when nobody follows! This definition is not even half the meaning for a leader especially for my leader this meaning does her no justice. My leader is an award winning writer and communications professional who leverages extensive media experience with a solid writing/producer background to develop and execute content that increase engagement and heightens awareness. She is a highly effective story teller with proven track records in launching creative initiatives that appeal to large audience and are completed within tight deadlines

“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way,” John C. Maxwell. Being a leader is not about being the boss or telling others what to do, it is about leading by example and helping others achieve a common goal. Joy in leadership can mean two things; bringing joy to others through your leadership or finding joy in itself in leading others. We can lead and bring joy in our community, school, team, and family.

Growing up, I realize the important leadership roles that should be recognized in every day life. Leadership is an important part of one's self character because when someone sees you as a leader they tend to grow more onto you so they can be like you. Part of this statement fits a powerful quote i've always lived by while being around others. "It is the men behind who make the man ahead," this quote by Merle Crowell, fits the man I've molded into, simply because I have realized in numerous ways on how my actions can impact other people's actions. My parents always raised me to believe that what you put in is what you get out. So of course, I believe that if I make the decisions to be a follower of the wrong path, then wrong will follow me as well. Instead, I choose to take the golden path and promote a better outcome for my future and hopefully other's also. Sticking to the routine of a leader builds you into an even better leader. Being a better leader, makes me a better man each day that I choose this route as the leader of my path.

Confidence, communication and commitment are just three of many traits that a leader possesses. Having those traits may help you become a leader but continuous hard work and dedication makes you one. To continue to be a leader you must also be intelligent, courageous, and determined. Becoming a leader is difficult but continuing to be one is even more difficult.

Leadership is a concept that often is misconstrued in our modern day society. Leadership is not about having the best ideas or telling people what to do. Rather, it has to do with intuition, awareness, and the person’s willingness to be a team player. A leader must be intuitive, they must be able to problem solve and think critically in tight situations. In addition, it is imperative to be aware as a leader, both of you situation and the people you are working with.

People view the role as a leader as something that someone has to have a lot of experience in, but in reality it is not about the past experience itself. As Robin S. Sharma says, “Leadership is not about a title or a designation. It's about impact, influence and inspiration. Impact involves getting results, influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work, and you have to inspire team-mates and customers.” Being a true leader is based on how you develop as a person based on past experiences and based on the people around you who influence you. Being a leader to me is being someone who inspires everyone to push forward whether they are struggling or soaring.

When you send out several request’s to complete a survey and you receive only one back it shows what type of leader you possibly are. The lack of Leadership Influence I‘ve had on others is significantly different than the survey. Leadership role models differ. There are several leaders out there that I truly admire but no individual figure, from my first Command to my last, the first Chief’s Mess to the current. Leadership is someone to whom we look up to; someone who follows the rules, leads by example and forms the path to which others will follow. My own leadership philosophy is simple: Lead in the direction you want to follow. .
