When I was growing up when someone would ask me what I wanted to be, I always said, “I want to be a millionaire”. But since then I have learned that working means so much more than just being a millionaire. I learned that work was about learning new things and bettering the world we live in. It all started when I dropped out of college just a semester before completing my business degree at the University of Villanova. Once I dropped out I just did a few short-term jobs through several different businesses that helped build my skills in my intended degree. About two years after dropping out however, I found some work at SECA a company that produces concrete products and have been there ever since. When I started out for SECA because I had no degree and little experience in business I started out completing spreadsheets and doing little side jobs. While the job was very repetitive at times it taught me a lot of lessons not only about business but life overall. Having to work that hard for a poor salary was tough for me, but it taught me that whenever you give up on something such as my degree you have to work that much harder to get it back. I remember having to sit in the same chair for eight hours straight filling in spreadsheets. During the day, I would try and listen to music to pass some time but every once in a while, the guy next to me would talk through my headphones about something nonsensical. The simplest of jobs was taking effect on me both emotionally and
“I began working part-time on a regular basis at the age of 13. After high school, I talked my way into a job as a runner at the Chicago Board of Trade. A runner is the person who runs all the buy and sell orders to the brokers in the pits. I have been successful in blue collar jobs, such as roofing and painting, as well as white collar jobs, such as being an account executive for a national mortgage lender. At the age of 21, I decided to attend college and later graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in telecommunications management. I am currently working on a master’s degree and am married with two children.”
I have been blessed with satisfying work experiences in industries that I love, childhood dreams come true.
Currently I am employed full time, and also hold a part time position along with being a wife, and mother of two children. By furthering my education, I can improve our future. Some days I just can't find the time I need to get what I need completed. Coming back to school after almost a decade has not been an easy task for me. However, I know once I get done, it will be completely worth it.
While working on my Bachelor's degree, I worked in a warehouse doing manual labor. After I finished my first degree, I was protored and began working a computer operator for the company. A few years later, I was protoed again and began to work on IT related projects for the company. After obtainin my Master's Degree with Univisity of Phoneix, I became a manager for the company. In my current role I oversee budgets and help maintain the most important IT functions at my location. I use the skills I have learned from my education to improve financial revenue and reduce overhead
As a sophomore in high school I took on my first job as a caddy at a local country club. Since I was new I did not get regular work, so I would go early on the weekends and on summer days and wait out by the caddy shack for unexpected work, so if my boss needed a caddy on the spot, or another caddy failed to show up, I would be there. This determination is driven by my constant grit to be financially independent, but also I did not ever want to make it harder on my parents by asking for money. To this day my Mom still struggles with money, as many people do because of unexpected events. This is why I have the passion to pursue finance, because I believe one day I can help people manage their current financials so that they can endure hardships that I know can come from unforeseen events. I hate to see people be unhappy and struggle with life because of financial issues, that is why I am motivated and inspired to be a successful financial
I’ve never had a job-but I work hard everyday and always put one thousand percent into everything that I do. At the age of 16 I have overcome many obstacles that even some adults would have a hard time
After spending an entire day job shadowing the director of tennis at River City, I do not want to pursue this field of study. Before I began this job shadow, I knew that I did not want to go into this profession because I have dreams of working on Wall Street in New York City. I thought that job shadowing a tennis teaching professional would be a fun, and enjoyable, way to spend the day. Cy Lystilla, one of my tennis coaches, is the man who I job shadowed for this project. Throughout the day, I learned a ton of new information about his responsibilities as the director of tennis. If I would not have taken the time to job shadow Cy, I would have never known about all of the little tasks he has to complete before the end of his day.
You may be asking yourself what is a day like in grade school teachers life. I was curious of the same thing, which is why I chose to job shadow a Junior High School teacher/coach. I did my job shadowing experience with Chris Page, at Diboll Junior High. He works there as a seventh grade science teacher and a boys junior high athletics coach. This combination is very common in small school districts across Texas, that is, having a teacher double as an athletic advisor in their school system. I had the opportunity to experience this first hand recently and have had the chance to decide if this is what career I’d like to pursue.
This is when manual labor was worth it when you were getting paid the big bucks, but money does not last very long in our world. Once we make money most of us like to spend it, because it is actually nice when one can get what they want. You have to work for this type of life, and I believe it will be worth it in the end. My life was slowly striving toward the right direction. Until one day, I realized that money was not everything. I was still missing a part of myself and my mind, and I was not satisfied. Then I came across our safety manager in our company. He told me that I was young and have so much potential. He also said that I should not work in this type of work all my life that I should go get myself an education and a degree. This is what shocked me. Something just clicked in my head and told me that what he was saying was true. This is when I started to plan out my life to go back to college and become who I always dreamed to be. My dream is to be a mechanical engineer and engineer refineries all over the world. This will be my worth. This will be my journey to
When I asked myself what I was I going to be when I got older, I had no answer. This made me realize that I had to make a decision and I had to make one fast. An area of study I have always been interested in is business. My dreams as a child have always been to become the President of The United States or an owner of a business. Working for a business would be intresting, but owning one would be more fulfilling. I would be able to expand my imagination by coming up with new ideas and control the company as a whole. I love designing and creating different things that make people happy, and if one day I became an owner of a company that produced products that satisfied people, that would make me happy. I soon came to the conclusion that in
A career in financial services, It all started wen I work for my dad’s company for a period of two years. I discovered the impact that a financial advisor could have in the future of a family. I was only eighteen at the time I started working for my fathers company in Venezuela. During that period I experienced first hand how a good friend of mine that needed a heart transplant was able to come to the US and get the best medical treatment due to the fact that his dad got him a policy through my fathers company.
My job shadow opportunity took place at the Alternatives Holistic Health and wellness center in Appleton Wisconsin. I was able to complete my job shadow on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Dr. Abbie Goodman was the Chiropractor I was able to shadow in order to fulfill my four hour requirement. Dr. Goodman took time away from her busy schedule as well to give me pointers and answer any interview questions I may have had for her at that time. I am very Grateful to her for the time she took and I was able to truly take away a lot from the experience.
Not a career or anything, but a decent job that paid my bills. I was working my butt off at a local tanning salon 40 hours a week. When I would get my paycheck it was so rewarding! All of a sudden that money was so much more valuable than before!! Too, I had to learn that AFTER I HAD PAID MY BILLS only then could I do what I wanted. It was a whole new ball game!
I have had a total of four jobs and currently employed with two of them. I continue to search for higher paying jobs and I’m always looking to impress my boss to receive raises. Not only are the jobs that I have taken good to pay for your needs and the tuition, but I also use them for my business purposes like how I want to own a restaurant. I always look up the strategies of the company and try learning off other experiences to gain knowledge about what obstacles I may encounter in the near future. It’s all about taking the hidden opportunities and having more jobs in the world of your degree the better you make money, but improve your education as well. I also plan on doing a work study on campus for the University of whitewater Wisconsin.
I’ve settled into my job at the club pretty quickly. The manager and I have decided that I will wear a bikini top with either pants or skirts while I work. We talked about having me work topless, but since the front door opens and people outside could see me, we ruled against it.
