There are several reasons factors that have contributed to my goal of continuing my education. One of which is, I became a mom at the age of 19 and had no clue of what to do. I just graduated high school and was working full time. I had a great support system when it came to my family. Life was such a disaster at this point and I had no idea what to do. I thought about heading back to school but never could find a school that could accommodate my schedule. I called Colorado Christian University a few times for different degree programs I was interested in. First was Early Childhood Education, then came Criminal Justice and lastly was Phycology.
In September of 2014 I met my now husband. He has always encouraged me to chase after my dreams.
It has taken me many years to be able to attend school. I struggled several years with health issues that kept me from realizing my dream of furthering my education. Now I am finally in a much better place healthwise. My health is no longer a barrier keeping me from receiving the education I have always wanted. However, I still have struggled when it comes to getting my education. Like many students, I struggle financially. I am paying for school on my own and I have found myself having to cut back on my hours at work in order to complete my school work. This has made it even more difficult to continue paying for school. It is not impossible for me to continue paying for school, and I am thankful for that, but it is a struggle. NSCS is a great
My educational goals were to get a certificate in Health Information Technology as a certified coder. But I change my mind and decided to get my associates degree because it provides me with more opportunities in the field. I can choose many different careers such as health information analyst, insurance claims analyst, records technician specialist, etc. With this degree I can improve my family financial situation and be an example to my children that if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything.
An experience in a biomedical research will help me to succeed in my long-term educational goals. My long-term goal is to attend a MD-PHD program at a Medical School. As a scientist, I would like to study the genetics of disease causing organisms and human genetics. Currently, I am studying Biochemistry at the University of Maryland, which I think will equip me with a knowledge of human biochemistry. However, since undergraduate schools mainly focus on theoretical not the practical application of most subjects, I need to participate in a hands on research project over the summer because It will give me an opportunity to apply my knowledge in a laboratory. This is when the summer research program at the University of Maryland school of medicine
Going to college has been a dream of mine growing up. I am the first ever in my family to go to college but figuring out how to pay for it has been a challenge. I desire to achieve my academic and career goals and this scholarship can help me succeed in my journey.
A long term educational goal for me was going back to school after 4 years and a second child. I kept putting it off for months and months .I was extremely intimidated due to the fact that I had two kids to support and; I would only be able to work part time. Finally I had to drive to greenwood to see the dermatologist and I said that would be the day I go to Kaplan. To make sure I reached my goal I started by cutting down my work hours and keeping in touch with my advisor. My goals were achieved after a month and I was proud it made me feel like I could achieve anything as long as I put my mind to it.
My academic goal is to graduate Argosy University with a bachelors degree in Forensic Psychology in three years time. Forensic Psychology is the study of the criminal mind, in a nutshell. The main motivation to achieve this goal would be intrinsic. I love asking questions and knowing the answers as to why people do what they do, and in a criminals case, what led them to committing the crime. This goal, however, may have some extrinsic motivation as well. Being knowledgeable about certain behaviors that criminals poses may help solve or even prevent a crime. In addition, having a degree will help open different paths in life, ones that may present me with greater job opportunities. My attitude toward the learning process will help my achievement of each goal because I am eager, determined and motivated. My greatest desire is to succeed in life, and obtaining an education is one thing I know will help me. I perhaps will need to make some adjustments along my journey. I do not know yet if I will find another educational path that intrigues me the most. For now, I do not feel that any adjustments need to be made.
My passion is to serve my community and volunteer through organizations such as Girl Scouts: we clean a cemetery, serve food to the homeless every Thanksgiving Day, and wrap presents for children during Christmas break. Through H.I.S. Bridge Builder’s, I help feed and clothe underserved communities. In the San Antonio chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, whom I am the president, we go to Morgan’s Wonderland to sing to disabled children, serve Thanksgiving dinner at the annual Jimenez Thanksgiving dinner and we have annual back to school give away to our local schools.
I believe that continuing my education is very important to my future, so I extend learning into my summer vacation. I complete my required summer reading and read numerous other books of my choice. Also I write essays like this to apply for college scholarships and to improve my writing skills. Finally, during my vacation I study for the ACT and the SAT which allows me to improve my scores and
Everything I learn will benefit me in the future. Knowing when to graduate will allow me to be a step closer to my long term educational goal. I do want to be successful in life and school is helping me towards that. At the skill shop the lady mention seeing your adviser from time to time to make sure you are ready to graduate. That is one thing that will help because that’ll allow me to know how much further I’ll have to go in order to earn my degree. Meeting your adviser also tie into knowing the path you have choosing is good and the way you are doing it, is efficient.
I am originally from Shreveport Louisiana, my family moved to Texas in my late teens and lived in Longview until enlisting into the United States Marine Corps as a Flight Mechanic on the KC-130T. I currently work as the Assistant Superintendent at Gavilon Grain in Saginaw Texas where we service the local flour mills. I have been accepted to UNT and will begin classes in the fall for a BAAS in Applied Technology and Performance Improvement. My educational career goal is to attend law school and become an
When the nurses first laid their eyes on me as I was born, I am not sure what potential they saw in me – all two pounds and a couple ounces of me. At four months, my mother and father adopted me, and as I matured, my parents enlightened me with the use of books, films, religion, and art. They were not the richest couple in the world, but still insisted on making up for it with firm, unwavering support. Now that I look at the prospects of my future, I am eager to pronounce my college goals. Any outside aid that could be granted to me would surly allow my academic plans to run far more smoothly.
I have grown up in a predominantly white, well-resourced, private school in suburban Maryland; therefore, inequality has been an inevitable factor in my educational experience. Although my school tried to include me, I still often felt isolated. From the time I was able to comprehend the idea of inequality and injustice, I developed an intense desire to fight for others if unfair actions were taken against them. As I grew older, this passion grew stronger, and I came to realize that fighting for justice is what I hope to be doing for the rest of my life.
I felt as though college was the next logical step, the only issue with that was the lack of direction I had in my academic pursuit. I spent four years attending
Nursing has been my ultimate goal ever since I was in high school. Unfortunately, due to family issues and immigration, I was unable to pursue my nursing degree. After settling down in Texas, I believe it is now the right time to continue my education. In order to refresh my memory, I started taking few math classes at the Collin College. Gratefully, I aced all my math courses and maintained my 4.0 GPA, because of both the great instructors at the Collin College and my hard work.
Aging can take a toll on many different types of people from rich to poor. Many are not prepared at all or some are and things just took a turn for the worse. Many older adults feel as if getting older means that there is no more working and no more stressing because of retirement and some feel that they have advantages over certain things because of they are older or they feel as if they have an obligation to get certain things because they are older. That’s not how today society works is and that’s not how they will get what they want You have to plan for these types of things now because times are getting harder economically and people are getting sicker physically. This is my plan on getting older and how I’m going to get my life together so I won’t be stressing on where I’m living or even my next meal.
