Quick and easy-to-use transportation has created the ability to travel worldwide many times in your life. From airplanes to boats to cars to trains all the way to buses, it is hard to not travel around the world, which it makes it difficult to choose one spot as your all time favorite place to be. But luckily in my life, I know that Sydney’s Frozen Custard on the shores of Lake Superior in Grand Marais is my favorite place to be. I have been blessed with countless experiences of travel from touring Italy, snorkeling the Mexican coasts, surfing the Dominican waves, exploring the land of Ethiopia, and even inhaling the fresh air of the Netherlands, but no adventure of mine has lived up to the relaxing Grand Marais atmosphere. The tradition dates back to 2005, the first time I experienced the crisp Lake Superior air. My family pained through the six-hour drive, and found it was well worth it. We fell in love with the small town ambiance, and to this day still cannot let go if it. So many monumental family experiences can be traced back to Grand Marais. Every year we celebrate America’s birthday by watching the fireworks explode over the placid and reflective Lake Superior water. Skiing the powdery fresh hills of Lutsen Mountain and coming back to a warm and cozy room at East Bay suites, while drinking the free steamy hot cocoa given away at the inn is a memory that will never escape me. I love waking up to the fog rolling over the water and the savory pastry aroma rolling
My favorite place to be is Chick-Fil-A. Chick-Fil-A is a bright red and light colored brown building with a plant statue of a cow, an outside eating area, and a drive through. When you walk in you might hear the frier, or the timer for the waffle fries, people talking, kids playing on the plastic playground, and you might hear the drink machine running if you are at the counter. Some of things you will touch, that could be very gross, are food, tables, door handles, condiment containers, and more than likley your disgusting, filthy money. At Chick-Fil-A you will probably taste chicken because pretty much everything they serve at Chick-Fil-A is chicken, of course. You could also end up tasting their amazing milkshakes or your everyday
My special place is a campsite called Day Maker 23 located on a small island on Namaken Lake in Voyageurs National Park. Voyageurs National Park is located in Orr Minnesota just south of the Canadian border. It is also located on the Eastern edge of the Canadian Shield. An exposed area of Precambrian stone.
On the far Northern border of Dundee Wisconsin, a small Scout Camp was founded in 1946 and a legend was born. This camp was named Long Lake, after the lake upon which it resides, and it would experience its fair share of storms and turmoil over the ensuing years. Some of its visitors only ever viewed it as a mosquito infested swamp while others would go on to call it their second home. To me however, I have always had a love hate relationship with its wooded trails and murky waters, yet I shall always cherish my memories of it in my heart. Regardless, Camp Long Lake is still one of my favorite places to visit with its quaint ecology conservation lodge, the various activities its main waterfront has to offer, and the thrills of sleeping
I live in a small town that goes by the name of Lafayette. The population is 4,500. Everyone knows where everything is, when everything is, and what everything is. As a child, my mother and I would go to a beautiful waterfall on a small back road when the sun was shining, when the trees and rocks were just right, and when it was damp and perfect for four wheeler rides. The Union Camp waterfall is majestic. The scenery makes a person speechless. We would always go when the weather was perfect. The waterfall is one childhood memory I will always remember. The activities my mother and I would do were always a blast. My trips to Union Camp waterfall are memorable because of the scenery, the weather, and the activities.
We are finally here. First, we check in at the camp office, we had online reservations for a specific site, so the registration went with ease. Then we stock up on firewood purchasing five bundles. Being somewhat of a regular here we know exactly how to get to our destination campground. We drove on a narrow, winding dirt road, the gravel under the tires made a popping sound to our site and the drive was gorgeous - fall foliage at its best. A coating of vibrant red, yellow, and orange covers the terrain. Panoramic views of the sprawling Pawtackaway lake are breathtaking to witness. Wooded campgrounds line the shore of the lake and most of them come with a private view of the water. You get the feeling of being secluded in forest and lake environment with a relaxing and picturesque atmosphere. The lake is spotted with numerous various size islands mainly created from post glacier rock formations. Much of the topography is boulder spawn giving it a New Hampshire mountain feel. There actually is a small mountain you can hike. Hiking trails overlooking the rim of the rambling lake. There is a no better place to escape to the great
This past summer my family and I ventured to the stunning city, San Diego, California. We stayed at the multiflorus Catamaran Hotel on Mission Bay. While we were in San Diego my sister and I tried a new extravagant thing, surfing, in the Pacific Ocean. Everyday we traveled to different beaches with different marvelous different features, in the different parts of San Diego. The trip was a blast, so many memories were made that will last forever.
Neil Bissoondath’s “There Are A Lot Of Ways To Die” is the story of a man named Joseph Heaven who has become disillusioned about his homeland. Joseph had grown up on a Caribbean island and later moved to Toronto with his wife. After some years in Toronto they moved back to the island. However, now that Joseph has settled back in he realizes that the island is not how he had remembered it. The story takes place in one day as Joseph wanders around the island thinking about various moments from childhood and memories from his time in Toronto. At the end of the story Joseph makes an impulsive decision to leave the island. The author makes this decision seem plausible by using several different elements.
I will never forget the first time I stepped foot into the Boundary Waters. It was February of 2016, a brutally cold weekend but one I will hold with me forever. My family and I took a day trip away from Camp Menogyn to go visit Rose Falls, one of the only waterfalls in Minnesota located in the Boundary Waters. When my mom told me we would be within park limits, I was ecstatic. Growing up, I heard stories from my parents and sister about the adventures they’d encountered in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. I felt so excited for my first experience.
Every year, the country of Canada receives over 16 million international visitors, and more than 7.5 million of those tourists visit Ontario, Canada, the country’s most dominant province. Many people hope to travel to Ontario to explore its wonderful attractions. Recently, I went to Ontario, Canada, and was lucky enough to tour Ontario and view its gorgeous sights. While traveling, I realized that Ontario can be enjoyable for anyone of any demographic. Every travel enthusiast should get the chance to take a vacation in Ontario because of how distinct this destination is from other vacation spots.
A rippling breeze stirred as my family and I coasted into downtown Mackinac Island, which happened to be cloudy. My family loves the Island. My mom and dad love the porch at the Haan's 1830 Inn, I love downtown, as well as a few other special places, and so does my brother (for the ice cream, of course!), and my sister loves pretty much everything! Downtown is one of my favorite parts of the island. So many bustling tourists, so many busy shops, so many strong, hard-working horses. I looked around as we coasted through downtown, even though I pretty much knew it by heart. I saw some of my favorite shops and restaurants, like the Chuckwagon, The Pink Pony, the Lilac tree Hotel & Spa ( Which has Mackinac Island´s bookstore, a toy store called Great Turtle Toys, a shoe store called Birkenstocks, and a fudge shop that also has
When I close my eyes and imagine, I can still clearly hear the gentle splash of the waves lapping the shoreline, and feel the slight ocean breeze whizz through my hair, sending it flying in every direction. During the frigid and dreary months of Missouri’s winter, there is one place in particular that my heart longs to be. Marco Island, Florida. When most people think of a luxurious vacation, they imagine crystal clear water, snowy white sands, and a miraculous five star hotel. Marco Island is no Bora Bora, but to me it’s the most enchanting small town that values simplicity and offers pure bliss to anyone coming to visit.
The utilization of nature has increased due to human amendments of trails and parks. Mackinac Island, a charming tourist island in Michigan, boasts a system of trails and amenities that have attracted many people to get out in nature. Visitors enjoy the beauty of the area, bicycling alongside the shore, hiking around historic sites, and riding horses through the woods. Because
Paddling in perfect unison across Lake Louise makes you a child of nature. Taking in the deafening silence and breathtaking sights of the wilderness is a glimpse to treasure dearly. The water is brilliant blue like Neptune. The downside is my cousins and sibling splashing the paddles as they dash over the canoe. The dramatic summit of Victoria Glacier is a stunning scenery of spontaneous sculpture-like presence. Seizing the moment to grasp the triumphant luster of water, who the late Pierre Elliott Trudeau once loved.
It is no doubt about it that everyone has somewhere that they have adapted to long enough to call it there home! A place they can relax and really be their selves, for some it may have been their grandparents house, aunties house or wherever they felt comfortable. Well I of course felt comfortable in my own home, a four bedroom house on the west side of North Miami. My home in Miami was perfect I had my own room, I was very comfortable there, and it was a place to get away from the world.
As I sit here, on the hood of my car looking out into the vast field I think to myself, why this place? Out of all the places that mean so much to me, why does this place stand out the most? Everyone has that one spot that is special to him or her for various reasons whether it be a memory, experience, how it makes them feel, etc. For me, my favorite place encompasses all my senses bringing them to an all time high filling me with an overwhelming indescribable feeling. It’s my sanctuary, a safe place, but above all a place to clear my mind and getaway from reality. There aren’t enough captivating words to describe the beauty of this place. In the winter, the vast field covered in a blanket of untouched glimmering snow surrounded by bare
