My family is like the phoenix - our personalities are born from travesties. “Obstacles can 't stop you, problems can 't stop you, most of all people can 't stop you, the only one who stops you is yourself.”( anonymous) My definition for perseverance is to keep going through the hardest times in one 's life. All the people I know that are kin to me practice steadfastness no matter difficulty or delay in achieving success or perseverance is how to live life. I interviewed three people: my dad, mom, my mom 's dad, and myself. The people of my my kin are extremely persistent and resilient.
The hardest time in my father’s life was probably childhood. After his mom died when he was 12, my father took care of his brother as if he was his child. As a result of, being raised by his great-grandmother, he was forced to move around often and changed schools mainly in Swannanoa. Even though my dad had a tough childhood, he always looked at the silver lining through the toughest obstacles in his life. Consequently to him not having much family support my dad’s grades weren 't high.
When my dad, gary, was seventeen he left Swannanoa to join the army. The first time in his life that he was recognized for excelling was when he excelled at the army since it was the first time he was recognized. In only four years of service he became a sergeant. In order to head to college, the army made him leave; he made it as far as possible until then. A little rough and strong, that’s my dad and that
Perseverance changes everyone's lives no matter how big, or how small the change is. Steven King has persevered through his rough times writing his first novel. So has Buck, the main dog in Call of the Wild. He has never given up on what he’s strived for. There are a ton more perseverance examples in life, and books on how someone had a rough time, got through it, and succeed.
What is the definition of perseverance? Well, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, perseverance is “steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success”. The quirky, ambitious Junior and the creative, enthusiastic Randy Pausch both display immense amounts of perseverance. Junior demonstrates this by attending Reardan High School to prove that he is still alive and reaching for his goals. Randy Pausch displays his perseverance through his brick walls; the obstacles in one’s life and how they show how bad one desires something. The two individuals are enduring through the challenges in their lives, and eventually are able to overcome them.
It is a concept that has been shown to me by my parents’ struggles throughout their lives. My dad persevered to get where he is today. He grew up fairly poor and was determined to make a better life for himself, so he didn’t let anything get in the way. Even when he was eighteen living in a dilapidated nine dollar hotel and hanging power lines in the bitter Iowan winter, he didn’t give up. He said that even though he felt hopeless, he knew he had to preserve. Perseverance is not giving up when facing struggles and my dad is the embodiment of that concept. By my dad persevering through his struggles, he showed me that I cannot let obstacles be my demise. Another person who has displayed perseverance in my life is my mom. When I was about four, my loving, caring grandma died. This greatly affected my mom, but even though she was in pain she put on a brave face for me and my brother, and I think that this is a great example of perseverance. This also makes me want to be brave and have perseverance when I face challenges in my own life because if she got through hard times in her life then I can too. The people around me have shaped my idea of perseverance by the way that they have displayed it in their
The Canadian Dictionary defines perseverance as “Steady persistence in adhering to a course of action, a belief, or a purpose; steadfastness”. In the novel Eric Walters, Walking Home, his main protagonist, Muchoki restates perseverance by sticking to his goal and never giving up. Due to political disturbances between ethnic groups, his father dies in a fire caused by a mob, leaving Muchoki, his little sister Jata and his mom with no other option but to flee and find shelter in an overcrowded refugee camp. Things do not get any better because his mom dies from malaria. Leaving Muchoki and Jata all by themselves, the last thing she told them was an old Kamba story; the story talked about a boy and a girl who run away from their homes to stay together following a string that will guide them to their new home so that they could be together.
Within my family tree there are two characteristics that catch my eye; perseverance and determination.“With perseverance and determination anything is possible”( Kelly Landolfi ). Even though my family is small, most of them have the trait of perseverance including my mom, Kelly; my dad, Louis; 5 my grandpa Dennis and last but definitely not least Kylie, me. Determination means to... “continue in a course of action, even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success.” All the Landolfi family have the same qualities of perseverance and determination.
Everyone has to go through tough events in their life, but to be successful you have to have to persevere and overcome it. In Call Of The Wild Buck went through a lot of struggle, but he was able to persevere and become a great sled dog. However, my dad also went through a lot with his high school football team also, but they overcame all of it and won the state championship. Although they persevered in different ways they both were able to overcome a struggle and be successful. To persevere you must be able to overcome adversity, and Buck and my Dad both did that.
Never giving up and working hard is challenging that requires a lot of perseverance. In the book The Call of the Wild Buck was dognapped and had to work hard if he wanted to live through the cold winter. At the same time, my father had to persevere through college, failing one of his classes. Nevertheless Buck and my father are different in handling situations. They both used their qualities of perseverance to get through the challenges that they were faced with.
My father has been a significant role model and his service with the Marine Corps has helped me to become the person that I am today. I am able to easily adjust to new situations; my work ethic is outstanding, and I possess the same amount of sheer grit that my father displayed as one of the
Perseverance is a trait that is needed throughout life. In the book, Call of the Wild, Buck has to adapt to a new lifestyle in the frosty Yukon, unlike his previous life in sunny California. He is put to the test of survival and maturity. Like Buck, my mom has to use perseverance to get through a time in her life where she struggled, but her journey was much less extreme. She went back to college for her master’s degree to become a nurse practitioner, while dealing with her job, money, and more importantly, her family.
In life you have up’s and down’s, sometimes you have to persevere in order to gain control of your life. In Call Of The Wild, whenever something awful happened to Buck he had to decipher on how to adapt to certain things. For Example, he would have to adapt to the weather, food, and people. Buck also felt formidable with many of his owners, because they were big and he was small. In contrast, my mother had a difficult time adapting to Kansas other than other states and people.

I am referring to the level of perseverance that I possess. Since the last two years in high school, I have noticed that I can surpass any difficulties that have come my way, notably my junior year as class president. In my first year, I was confronted with a great deal of issues all ranging from organizing events like prom too working with an unmotivated class. Fortunately, I was able to unite the class which allowed them to work well together and certainly this did not go unnoticed because I was re-elected for senior year. Now it doesn’t seem like much, but for me it was difficult as it was my first year as president and I had been immediately thrusted into it. Despite this and all the complications that arose with it, I was able to be persevere through the endless challenges that I faced as class president. What's important to note from all of this is that my determination to persevere will allow me to accomplish any desire that I
Perseverance is crucial if you want to make to make something out of life. We all have difficulties that we need to overcome in our life and perseverance is the key to success with no regrets. My neighbour had a dream to start her own restaurant but she had no money, support or job. But instead of moping around she decided to put everything she had into opening a restaurant and eventually after all her hard work and persisting paid off and she made her dream into a reality. My neighbour didn’t just wait for someone to help her out but she made the tough call to take matters into her own hands and persist to achieve her dream. And as Sun Yat-sen, “The key to success is action, and the essential in action is
What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice one is willing to make in the name of success. As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The goal and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all efforts to succeed.
My father passed away in 1991, two weeks before Christmas. I was 25 at the time but until then I had not grown up. I was still an ignorant youth that only cared about finding the next party. My role model was now gone, forcing me to reevaluate the direction my life was heading. I needed to reexamine some of the lessons he taught me through the years.
