Golden eyes, brown fur, four legs, and a long tongue, what am I? If you haven't guessed already, I'll tell you, I am a dog, well, I'm not actually a dog, that’s just the answer to the riddle. More specifically, I was describing my dog. He is my living artifact, I say that because he is old, and because I have on other artifacts (that I know of) in my family. I guess we just aren't the sentimental type, at least not in a, "this object represents what we are" kind of way. However, to me, my dog holds a lot of sentimentality mostly through our experiences. I've never had a human best friend, and that makes Roscoe my one and only best friend, that is why I choose to make him my artifact. So, he represents to me hard work, responsibility, friendship, and loyalty.
By now you probably want to know my dog's name, right? His name is Roscoe, and he is a pure breed chocolate Labrador, and he was born on November 2, 2012 in Spokane, Washington. Compared to

I have been raising Roscoe since he was a puppy and I realized that there isn't much of a difference between the two. They both rely on you to feed them, clean up after them, and love them, they also whine and have accidents. However, a human child will grow up, and be able to take care of themselves while a dog will always rely on you. That is a lot of responsibility that, unfortunately, not a lot of people can handle, which leads to neglect, however, that is a different essay. I wasn't a very good dog trainer when I got Roscoe, so I didn't house train him correctly and I barely was able to teach him to sit. However, I always fed him twice a day, tried to give him daily walks, and cleaned up the yard after him. Having a dog has taught me to be responsible which gives Roscoe that much more sentimental value. He is not just valued by my found sense of responsibility, he Is also my best

My artifact is brown and black with almost 2 decades’ worth of memories; this object is my stuffed Rottweiler named Max. This artifact, although motionless with four legs, has walked to the moon and back with me as a child full of imagination. This artifact stores the most precious memories and has been with me at every step in my life. Max is very meaningful to me because we have shared many memories, from birth until now. My stuffed animal has been with me through every ups and downs in life, every change that has ever occurred to me, has been a part my past and present; and represents my future.
The last objective the members will obtain is canine companionship. Stern, Donahue, Allison, Hatch, Lancaster, Benson, and Peterson (2013) announce how associating with an animal companion can reduce loneliness, anxiety, depression, and can improve an individual who is suffering from medical problems overall health (Stern, Donahue, Allison, Hatch, Lancaster, Benson, & Peterson, 2013). Finally, this companionship will help the member establish trustful relationships.
Growing up, my Grandparents had a Golden Retriever named Chief. Although he wasn’t really all that golden, he was more a rich copper red color. As kind and as fluffy as he was we were best friends from the beginning. Even after I got my own dog I was still infatuated with him. One Thanksgiving when I was around five we were at my Grandparents house. I played with him outside until my Mom hollered “Elizabeth! Time for dinner!” When we finally sat down for dinner, Chief was at my feet under the table and I snuck him food when the adults weren’t looking. After dinner, my Grandpa, brother and I went on a walk with Chief. Before we left I begged and begged for my Grandpa to let me hold the leash by myself. He finally said “ how’s this for a compromise, I’ll attach two leashes so both you and your brother can hold him.” I reluctantly agreed.
Dogs will always be your best friend. They will always be loyal and loving to you as long as you treat them right. You must always remember that taking the responsibility of loving a dog leads to the responsibility of handling a loss when it is sure to come around. It doesn’t mean hesitate from getting a dog, it just means appreciate every second you have with

Well… what is this special object? My cherish object is a dog stuffed animal. I would always like ALWAYS take my dog stuffed animal anyplace anytime. One day my aunt overheard me tell my mom that I wanted a puppy, so she gave me one except a dog stuffed animal. I still loved my new puppy. She gave it to me when I was only three years old, on Christmas. I got it in Chicago, Illinois. At that time, I was staying at my aunt’s house.
In October of 2014, my mom andI had begun to discuss adding a fur baby to out family. We had the original intent of getting a Rottweiler, a sweet dog with a big bark. Of course, things don't always go as we intend them too. A different breed was immediately pushed on us when we mentioned we wanted someone protective, but still sweet.
Approximately thirty-seven to forty-seven percent of households in America own a dog. With nearly half of the country owning this pet, it makes me wonder, what is so special about them? I personally own an exceptional Rottweiler named Mocha, and I must say I cannot imagine my life without her. I believe that dogs are outstanding pets to have for two main reasons; first of all, they are beneficial to the owner’s health, and second they provide their owners with protection from a multitude of dangers.
known as a “Scottie.” Barney was a petite dog with scant legs and a colossal head. He had scanty eyes and ears that always pointed up. He always had the Scottie haircut. This is where the hair on his body was always lengthy. Barney was brave, entertaining and lovable. He had a considerable personality because he was friendly and playful to everyone. However, contrary to his upbeat personality, Barney was stubborn at times. Barney frequently loved to play soccer and tug of war, but on the more relaxed occasions, Barney adored long walks. He relished long walks because he felt desideratum to smell anything and everything that he wanted to. Playing soccer and going for a walk were the climax’s of his day. He was an enormous addition to my whole family. Not only did Barney have a considerable personality because of his friendly and playful characteristics, but also because of his ability to comfort those in need, especially me. I knew that Barney loved me as much as I loved him.
Dogs have been a companion for humans throughout history. There are currently 161 breeds which are recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) registry (Why Purebred?, 2013). Add the total of mix breeds and the number of dogs the ASPCA rescues daily, and there are a countless number of dogs in the United States. Unfortunately, since dogs do not have the ability to speak, they use their mouths and paws to communicate. Dog bites happen. According to the ASPCA, there are approximately 4.7 million dog bites estimated every year (Dog Bites, 2013). Based on these estimates alone, dog bites raise public health and public safety issues in many cities across the country.
Owning a pet means being responsible for another being that depends fully on his caretaker. This responsibility may be experienced as a burden at

“If I can’t act, I would go to college and maybe be a veterinarian.” There was a young girl, animals were always a fascination to her. At a very young age, she knew that she wanted to be a “doctor” but she was not very sure until the age of 12 that she suddenly knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian. Trips to the zoo were more fascinating to her than the average child. Growing up in her teenage years, she discovered that as humans, they share the Earth with many different species, our looks differ, our languages differ, some of the ways they choose to live and survive are very different and that humans seem to be “better” than the animals.
Did you know that we are losing love in the streets? There are many dogs without owners that are fighting to survive. These creatures called “Man’s best friend”, are suffering of not eating; they are getting diseases, and dealing with other obstacles. They are faithful friends that would die to defend their owners. But, what are we doing, as “the best friend of the dog”, to help them? Absolutely nothing, just feel sorrow of them. Well, if we help them, we will not change the whole world, but we will change the life of dogs. Also, caring and adopting them provide benefits not only to them, but also their families.
