My day started like any other. I looked out the window and saw the beautiful clear and sunny sky in Miami, Florida. I lived there. It is always sunny and there is never a dull day. After I looked out the window I got dressed and went downstairs. I ate pancakes and bacon for breakfast. I packed my bag and started walking to school. When I got there, I went to my first period class, science. About halfway through class, I noticed the sky was really dark and the wind was picking up. It was also starting to rain very hard. All of a sudden, our principal came on the announcements.
She said, "There is a surprise hurricane coming, and some of our parents were at the school and were going to pick us up."
I got scared. I had no idea what to

I ran around the house stuffing everything I could into my bag. Then I saw the water outside rising swiftly. I immediately sprinted as fast as I could to the door, but it was too late. I pushed and shoved with all my might, but the door wouldn't open. The rain sounded even louder than hail. The sky turned pitch black. I couldn't see anything, because the electricity went out too. The wind violently shook the house. I started to think I was going to die. I started to wonder where my parents were at. I got really frightened. I started to panic, rushing around the house trying to get out, when I noticed lights flashing. There were rescue workers trying to help people! I started pounding on the windows trying so hard to get them to notice me. I did this for 5 minutes and then finally someone noticed me. I saw them open the door and the water rushed inside. I got scared. What if I drown before they save me? I didn't drown. One rescue worker put me on his boat before I could have the chance to drown.
"Can you please look for my parents? I don't know what I would do without them." I said very frantically.
The rescue worker replied, "We will try our hardest. Do you know where you last saw them?"
I have to think for a minute, but I finally said, "Maybe in the garage."
They tried looking for my parents there, but they couldn't find them. They take me to another boat that will get me to safety. I ride in that boat to who knows where. I find out
That first day of school that morning was filled with nerves, and heading into the school year. I was ready as usual and as soon as the bus came, waved to my parents as usual. The bus ride
That morning I woke up to the beautiful Florida sunshine shining down through my curtains. A bunch of friends, family, and I had stayed in a condo in Panama City that week. It was a week filled with smiles and laughter. Yet not knowing that those smiles would simply turn to frowns later on and the laughter to tears.
I walked outside the next morning feeling great. The bright vibrant sun shone on the freshly mowed grass. I loaded into my sister's car and we went off to school. The day passed extremely rapid,
My mom left earlier that morning to go to work at a local nursing home near downtown. I was at home watching for the house anyways because it just so happens that at that time the basement was flooding every time it rained lately. Now that I look back at it maybe it should have been a sign. No body really knew that there would be this major flooding until about just before mid day the city put out an emergency broadcasts. Not too long after my mom called and the flooding had already started in the basement and in her area. Although, it wasn't too bad to drive in she said so she was going to get her patients to another location I believe she said and then come and get me. Until then she ask me to watch out for the house. That was really scary. I was confronted with this task that nothing could prepare me for. I was a 12 year old boy in charge of a house that is being
I’m too level-headed and I know not to panic in an emergency situation. I see the water rising over the first floor of my house. It starts to rise over the second floor and I can’t move. I can’t do anything to get away. I can’t call for help because I left my phone in my car. I can’t even yell to a neighbor because they’re either dead or gone.

“I will help you, but with one condition. You have to let me stay here. My father mistreats me and I can defend you from the townspeople as they are planning on killing you,” replied
Today was the last day of school before spring break and already knew what i was going to do. It was a long day today because i was so anxious to leave. The bell rang for the buses and i was the first to leave. I got on the bus and was headed home. Mom and dad were already packing my bags and i couldn't wait to leave. All the bags were packed and that's when we got in the car and headed for the airport to go to Mt. Everest,
I arrived at school, and I went to my first class, my least favorite class Social Studies. Today we were working on a report on presidents, and I really didn't feel like it. I really just wanted to go home. But, then my teacher got a call, when he was on the phone he looked a little worried. When he got off the phone he said,” I don't want you to get scared but Hurricane Irma is moving faster than the weather people excepted so school is dismissed.” I could feel my heart beating so fast almost fast as a cheetah running for his prey.
I ignored my alarm clock for the umpteenth time and waited until the very last second to get up. I got dressed in my usual jeans and t-shirt and pulled my long brown hair into it’s usual french braid. I glanced at the clock and, as usual, realized I only had three minutes to get to the bus. I darted out of my small house into the warm sunny North Carolina sun, just stopping long enough to grab my usual sesame bagel with cream cheese that my mother laid out for me on the kitchen counter.
"Then don't. But they are your parents and they are worried about you. I would imagine from the tone of that letter that if you are not home within a fortnight, I shall find them upon my doorstep."
Every day is always the same: wake up, run, school, gymnastics practice, pick up Sarah, eat, homework, sleep, repeat. I like how my life is, sure it isn’t super exciting, but that’s okay. And I certainly didn’t think it would ever change, until today. It started out like any other day, I woke up, went for a run and then got my cousin and I ready for school. I dropped her off at the middle school and went up to the college that I am studying at. I only have one class today so I walk in, sit down and take notes on the lecture. Then I pack up and head to the gym. I work on my routine for the competition this weekend and then when I finish I head to the showers and quickly scrub the sweat and chalk off of my body and get dressed. I got into my
I on the day of October 7, My mom had just picked me up from dance at 9. I walked in my house and walked back to my bedroom and plugged my phone in and I walked out of my bedroom and walked to the bathroom and my dad had yelled my name to come here. My mom and dad were in their bedroom and I continued on to go to the bathroom. As I was walking in my mom walked out into the hallway and I whispered to her and said what does he want. My mom said “I don’t know” just go to the bathroom. So I went to the bathroom my heart racing and wondering what was going on because I know it couldn’t of been good. When I came out of the bathroom they were still in their bedroom, and I was trying to avoid going in to talk. So I walked out of the bathroom and into the kitchen to get some grapes, and then I was heading to the basement to finish my homework. As I was washing off my grapes then they walked out into the kitchen. Then they walked up to me and told me they needed to talk and then my heart suddenly started racing. My dad grabbed my hands and my mom walked to my side, and then that 's when they said my mom had breast cancer. I didn’t know what to say, so I just stood there and the tears started pouring out. That 's when all the questions and bad thoughts started to come to mind. The questions like what is she going to have to have, and then the thought of I don’t know what I would do without my mom. She came around and gave me a hug and told me she was going to be okay. I definitely
It was sunny in Atlanta and according to the weatherman from channel Fox 5, it was expected to be a sunny day, with clear skies and 80 degrees outside. It was my day off, so I got up early and got my daughter ready for school. At that time she was in second grade at Ashford Park Elementary in DeKalb County. I did not have any plans on how to spend my day off, after all, I had too much to do and little time to accomplish my household chores. I had two jobs to support my daughter and myself. So, when I have a day off, I tried to do whatever possible. In the few hours that the day has, I had to manage my time to volunteer at my daughter’s school, do laundry, clean the apartment, and do grocery shopping, just to mention a few. I sat in the
