Life works in mysterious ways, and my path has led me to pursue a career in the Social Work field. My last two years of high school were unique because I was a full time dual enrolled student, which allowed me to graduate with both my high school diploma and my Associate of Arts degree. Now I am twenty years old and will be graduating with my Bachelor’s in Psychology. Upon entering my undergraduate program, I had some idea of what career path I wanted to follow. I had taken many entry-level psychology courses while pursuing my Associate of Arts degree and it peaked my interest. At first, I wanted to be a guidance counselor and then I contemplated being a mental health counselor. It was not until I took a course the first year of my undergraduate career that I knew my future career path. The course I took was Issues in Culture and Society with a concentration in Death and Dying. In that class, I learned how beautiful death can be and how important it is for someone to have a good death. The class also gave me information on grieving for all ages and how to help individuals experiencing grief and this is when I decided to become a bereavement counselor. My mother died when I was seven and I had to grieve in silence, so I want to help others with their grief, so they do not have a similar experience to mine.
In order to accomplish my aspiration as a bereavement counselor, I knew I needed to gain experience in the area of bereavement. I began an internship in an organization

Since I was a high school student I always knew that I wanted to pursue a career that was going to give me the opportunity to help others, because when I was in high school I went to therapy for about a year and this had a tremendous impact on my life. My therapist was a blessing for me, she helped me a lot during my teenager stage, and thanks to her I always knew I wanted to help other the same way she helped me. For my undergrad studies I decided to get my BA in psychology and Sociology; but I always knew that I wanted to work with children. When it was time to apply for graduate school I decided to apply to master program in social work; because I knew social workers also work in the school system. After my first year of graduate school as a social worker student, I came to the conclusion that if I really wanted to work in a school setting, school counselor was the best career choice that was going to give me the opportunity to work with

To answer this question, one must first know the definition of the tragic hero. A tragic hero, as defined by Aristotle is a character who is noble in nature, has a tragic flaw and discovers his fate by his own actions. In Things Fall Apart, a novel by Chinua Achebe, Okonkwo can be considered a tragic hero because he meets all of Aristotle's criteria by being a tragic hero by being a successful and respected leader in Umuofia, having a tragic flaw, and discovering his fate soon after his action.
Experiences often have a noticeable impact on potential career paths, and I am no exception. I spent a major portion of my recent summer interning at Sanford Health, a local hospital, with Sanford Vascular Innovations, a research group located within the hospital. As part of my internship, I became involved in the patent process for novel medical devices and observed live surgery, both state-of-the-art and timeless, to increase my understanding. Observing the live surgeries provided me with a more knowledgeable position from which to write a background of current medical treatments for the novel medical devices. Even though the specific medical devices were not in the trial phase, just observing the operations afforded me a greater understanding of how the device could be used and where potential complications could occur. Performing the actual surgery would provide even more insight into how medical devices are used and where complication may occur.
My alternate career path is nursing. I think this would be a good career for me because in nursing you have to work with people and you help them, and I like to help people anyway I can. I didn’t pick nursing as my major because to be a nurse you have to go to school for four years and I didn’t want to do that, so I decided to do a degree that is only two years.
In 2012, a 14-year old girl was shot in the head on a bus ride home from school in Pakistan. She was targeted by the Taliban because she believed in the rights of education for women and was not afraid to take a stand against this oppressive regime. Malala Yousafzai at 17-years old is a Nobel Peace Prize winner. Since then, Malala has opened schools in Lebanon, has a charity called The Malala Fund, and continues to speak to world leaders to fund the right for education. Malala is a pioneer for educational rights, just as I hope to be a pioneer for chemical engineering.
Currently, I am a senior at the Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology studying the field of Graphic Designing. Throughout the entirety of high school, I have tried my hardest to succeed and do the best that I can do. Through my experiences at the Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology, I have learned a lot about the future, our society, and myself; I have decided to not become a Graphic Designer and actually go to towards the direction of the human body, as I have always been curious. I plan on going to the University of Nevada, Reno and graduate with pre-medicine, then to go to graduate school and specify to become a surgeon. Also, throughout high school, I have been able to be an active community member and I have had the opportunity to

When we’re asked as children what we wanted to do with our life, it is usually not what we end up doing at all. My life experiences and challenges have pushed me to do and think about a career that I would have never thought nor known about. Social Work has had an enormous impact on my life and has pushed me to pursue a career in it. Although it is not a well-known or popular major, it is where I feel as if I will succeed the most not only in my career, but also in my life and goals. Growing up, I had dreams of being an artist, but as I experienced life, I realized I wanted to do something with my life that positively impacted others. My adolescence could be considered a rollercoaster; with lows as far down as losing my parents, and highs as far up as succeeding in high school and getting accepted to my top choice
While some people have known exactly the career that they have wanted to go into since childhood, I did not. The only thing that I knew for certain was that I wanted to help people. Whether it was holding lemonade stands to raise money to build schools in Haiti or creating my own not-for-profit business selling baked goods and to buy animals for impoverished communities throughout the world. Over two years, I raised over $5,000. Although I enjoyed this, I still felt that this was not the career for me. The next summer, I spent a month in the Dominican Republic on a service trip. This was a life changing experience as it showed me how to have a global perspective on life as well as instilling in me the importance of serving a good greater than my own. However, knowing that this could not be a career, I kept exploring. Eventually, I took a Principles of Engineering course in school, and from the first day, knew that I had found what I was looking for. I will continue to follow my passion of helping people in engineering by creating new products that increase quality of life in people all over the world. However, I must first educate myself and get experience through internships and co-ops. It is for these reasons that I believe that the best city in world that I can live in to further my goals is Lawrence, KS.
During my school career, I have excelled in science, math, and music. I enjoy these areas of study, and I like the challenge each disciple requires. I feel my background in these areas has prepared me to begin work on an engineering degree. During high school, I took AP math and science classes and did well on the AP exams. In addition, I took a robotics class for three years, and competed in the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) state robotics competition, two of the three years. In addition to academic classes, I was in the marching band and advanced concert band playing the most difficult part each season. I participated in the UIL state solo and ensemble contest and state marching contest multiple times. Once at Texas A&M, I joined
Children involved in a team atmosphere develop traits to be a good leader, a good teammate, and key characteristics of a beneficial member of society. Sports also teach honorable qualities for successful citizens including, respect, discipline, and trust. In order to develop these social skills and other skills needed later in life, improve academics, and combat the rising number of obese or inactive children, they should be allowed to play sports.
My career path was rerouted after the birth to my son. I was managing a 24-hour Alarm Monitoring Call Center with two years of college education in Psychology. Due to an inconsistent work schedule and difficulty locating Psychology courses that worked around my schedule, I decided to change my career path to Business Management, since I already had nearly 8 years experience in supervision and management. My mentor introduced me and made me familiar with the Dictionary of Occupational (DOT) following high school. The DOT is comprised of all occupations and job titles, salary ranges, responsibilities, and industries (Berry, 2003). As I prepared for my new journey, I evaluated my decision, researched, planned, applied for new occupations that interest me, and prepared for my new career in Management.
