Multidisciplinary Meeting Reflection

In this essay I will concentrate on inter-professional collaboration which is cornerstone for providing better care to patients. I will try to examine some benefits and opportunities, while identifying the barriers and issues to effective collaborative work between employees. Throughout my essay I will be using LEARN format for better reflection on my clinical practice, my thoughts and feeling. As a nursing student in Early Identification team which is focused on maternal and children’s health, I will discuss my experience as being a part of this team.

This paper is a reflective report of the authors’ personal observations, thoughts, and experiences from attending one of the ‘Alcohol Anonymous (AA) meetings’ at Burnaby Fellowship Centre Society. It is a drop-in social club for recovering alcoholics and addicts where its members describe their experiences with alcohol or drug addiction, how they came to the society, and how their lives have changed as a result of attending the program. Burnaby Fellowship Centre Society is part of the AA group which is a self-supporting and independent body. Membership is open to anyone who wants to recover from addictions and the only requirement for membership is a desire to stop the addictions. I also attended 2 hours KCDC meeting on behalf of my supervisor. He couldn’t attend the meeting, so he asked me to attend it. Attending the meeting made me learn more about the programs that KCDC provide and project that they are working such as treatment group class, planning new group, partnerships with other agencies, research, and many more. Moreover, we also divided into three group to have short and small group workshop. I joined domestic violence that led by PawWah. The workshop was more like discussion and we all gave our ideas and perspectives to create domestic violence video for the Karen community and we came up with the best message that we would like to share with the audiences/public. I want to attend the SNMA Conference to learn about and discuss any improvements in medical education as well as learn how physician advocacy plays a role in health care and if there are any initiatives/programs to better improve patient career. I should attend the conference because I'm considering a 5-year MD/MPH track, so this conference would be an eye opener and my first introduction into the public health sector.

The first organization meeting I attended took place in the month May 2016 in the downstairs department of the Family Resource Center. The meeting began at 9:30 A.M. and lasted an hour. The meeting included staff from FRC, the Child Advocacy Center (CAC ), Child Protective Services (CPS), and, and a representative from the Tupelo Police Department was referred to as a Multi-Disciplinary Team Meeting (MDT). The meeting was held to examine the status of child sexual, physical abuse, and violent crimes cases. Which detailed the allegations and follow-up recommendations; to prepare the child as well as family court officials, at this time all case active were up for discussion, as to their progression and whether such files should be closed, and

The counselor met Reynaldo for his scheduled individual session. Mr. Reynaldo denies any substances use this week. Reynaldo and I went over the AA meeting scheduled for the 24hour group in his community. Reynaldo agreed to attend two AA meeting by our next individual session. Reynaldo denies any HI/SI during the session. Reynaldo appears to be in the contemplation stage of change as evidenced by him continued to seek recovery. The counselor next individual session with Mr. Ventura is on Tuesday September 8, 2015 at 2:30pm.

This is a reflective essay based on my attendance at a multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting whilst on my two-week placement at a local mental health day hospital. The aim of this essay is to discuss the importance of the multidisciplinary team within the mental health environment and discuss factors that can influence the success or failure of multidisciplinary teams.

On Wednesday, August 25, 2015 at 12:00pm, I went to an AA meeting at 570 Karl Road, Columbus, Ohio, Christian church. The people were very welcoming; they started by reading the 12-step fellowship. They recited their prayer and each member introduces himself or herself as an alcoholic. It is amazing to see how the group interacts among each other freely probably without any concern of being discriminate or being judgmental.

As a special education teacher I am involved in numerous meetings, in some of those meetings I have noticed that words, cultures and back grounds can impact the tone and outcome of the meeting. For some parents meeting with a room full of teachers can be intimidating. All too often the meeting consists of educated, white females. I am often the first African American teacher the student or parents have had interactions with. I can remember sitting in an IEP meeting for an hour when everyone had left the room besides me and the parent, I asked again if she had any questions or concerns. The parent asked, “What does all this mean for my child?” This parent sat in a meeting for an hour and had no idea what was being said nor did she feel comfortable

During the semester I attended different 12 step program in the South Bronx in churches around my community. Firstly, most of the people that attends to the meeting are Latinos. I was surprised to observe many Latinos in the meeting. My experience is that Latinos does not believe in mental health treatment. However, the room was filled of male adult’s Hispanics. The first time, I greeted the speaker who explained me how the meeting will progress. The meeting starts with a pray, and a brief introduction of each of the participants, just the name and the reason they are in the meeting. During my visit to my EDHE 105 teacher’s office, she encouraged me to attend two meetings for two organizations on campus. One was Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED), a health profession based honors society, and the other was the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), a student lead, pre-medical organization aimed towards helping better prepare students for medical school. I was unfortunately busy during the time of the AED meeting and could not attend, but I was free during the AMSA meeting and decided to see what it was like. At first, I was skeptical about going to the meeting, because I knew that I would not know anyone else there. I was even more nervous about it when I saw how many people actually showed up, knowing that I still did not know anyone.

I went to the San Bernardino City Unified School District Board meeting that took place on October 3, 2017. In this board meeting, there were a lot of interesting topics that that were discussed. The board members voted on various topics throughout the board meeting, the community could see the members’ votes. This board meeting focused more on High School students rather than on Elementary students.

I attended the Jefferson Public School Board Meeting on June 7, 2018. The items that were discussed at this meeting were the Superintendent’s and Board Members’ monthly reports and the request to adopt the 2018-2019 budget and appropriation of funds. In Superintendent Jason Glass’s report he spoke of the various schools that he met with at the end of the school and how he spoke with some of the area graduates at the graduations he attended. Dr. Glass spoke of the Executive Leadership Council meeting he is involved in and they recently just met in Washington D.C. This council allows other superintendents from across the country to meet and collaborate on how their districts are doing and what they are doing in their districts that are or are

I have always come prepared to a meeting. I would determine the purpose and objective of the meeting in advance thus eliminating time wastage. In order to contribute to the team discussion, I would always prepare by having a basic understanding of the topic at hand.

In my undergraduate work, almost all of my classes that were directly related to my major required at the least one group project. In the beginning this was not something I was very fond of mostly because I had some bad experiences when it came to working with others on projects. Usually it was the problem of people not pulling their own weight, and doing their parts to help with the tasks. When it came time to have the assignment complete it was even harder to give a grade to those people. I did not want to be the guy who caused someone to throw someone under the bus. However, after I thought about it, I did want to be that guy because in the real world on a work project if there was someone who did not pull their weight in the job projects would not be successful. So, when it came time for grades, I was always honest, and usually if a person did not do their part I told it how it was.
